This place is not bad from my experience! They aren’t the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, but you’re getting very good quality for the amount you pay. I recommend the cheese and meatball sandwich if you’re look for something quick but comforting. Flavors are full and you get every element in the sandwich in every bite. Some of the other sandwiches flavoring from the mustard or horseradish can be too strong, so the meatball sandwich is a good way to ere on the side of caution.

I’m kind of obsessed with the rare roast beef sandwich. It’s a sandwich that kind of creeps up on you… at first you’re like«that was a good lunch»… then the next time you order roast beef elsewhere you’re like… «hmmm I wish I had that sandwich from Tamarind Deli.» The service is always quick and friendly… and they have a great selection of unusual sodas, so I always try something new. The actual restaurant is very small and there is very little seating… definitely for carry-out

I enjoy this sandwich place over Jersey Mikes any day. So fresh and delicious. They’re very speedy too which is a plus. So far The roasted turkey and The Italian are my favorite.

I ordered the #4 $ 9.99, and was so disappointed. First of all I asked if they’d toast it. The cashier said yes they are toasted. When I opened it at home, it wasn’t toasted. Secondly the sandwich was so sparse! Barely any meat or anything. I drove from Burbank for that? Never again.

The absolute worst food poisoning I have ever had! My boyfriend and I split a couple of sandwiches so can’t be sure which one exactly did it but it was either the Italian or the braised beef. They weren’t even anything to write home about. Not worth it at all.

This place is good, and worth your time if nearby. It’s not Earth shattering or groundbreaking, but it takes care of that lunch hunger. The brisket is a good sandwich(the one everyone is supposed to get); however that horseradish cream sauce is a little too Django unchained for me. That stuff gets globbed on like the end of a porn shoot just happened. I would ask light horsey cream or on the side most definitely lol… good lord it was like a money shot and I ain’t about that life! Aside from that experience, I have ordered the turkey sandwich and the Italian one(with all the various Italian meats). Both excellent and more my cup of tea… rather than that wild brisket sandy(although meat was good). All sandwiches are decent size, and in a perfect world be a little bigger, but then again I’m not trying to fall asleep at my desk during the second half of the day after taking more white flour bread to the face.

We just had a terrible experience with this business. We ordered four sandwiches, two of which were on wheat and rye. When we arrived at the business to pick up our order, we were informed that they had neither wheat nor rye. This should have been brought to our attention when we placed the order not when we arrived to pick up the order. We were forced to change our order to use the French roll which is not part of our healthy eating plan and we reduced the order by one sandwich. To add insult to injury, upon inspecting our receipt we noticed that they charged us $ 7 tax on a $ 30 order. Tax here is 9%. We called, having already left the area, and were hung up on not once but twice. Will be calling again on Monday to speak with the owner.

Had the Brisket Sandwich yesterday. It SUCKED. DRYFLAVORLESSCRAP. ITISFLAVORLESSPOTROAST. I didn’t bother complaining because the employees looked like they eat at subway or the Arby’s across the street. The staff is obnoxious. This place use to be OK. I guess that’s what happens when you have employees with no Palette and no right to be working at a gourmet deli. If your going to charge me $ 14 for a water and a sandwich… It better be Freaking awesome. Get your shit together Tamarind street deli.

I’ve definitely had better sandwiches, but I would return to Tamarind. My sandwich was tasy but I wish it had a bit more meat on it. The bread was good and the guy at the cashier was super friendly. My phone order was ready for me when I got there.

This place is obnoxious. I read about it on Unilocal two years ago. I showed up– they had«closed early.» OKAY! They already have dumb hours, but OKAY. TWOYEARSLATER I think, «Hey, maybe I’ll give this place another shot!» So I drive over, spend awhile to find parking in this area, walk up, and… …closed early for the day!(see photo of sign… used so regularly it’s laminated!) I’m glad business is so good for them they can be this casual. I’ll never be back. Two trips during business hours– over the course of two years– and they weren’t there. I don’t think I’m asking for much to actually have them be open when they say they are. Try another place– one that, ya know, actually cares.

Haha I could care less if they know my name at the Deli. Just make my sandwich good! I like to get their brisket sandwich, it’s not overly flavorful but the meat is cooked well and it’s soft. Paired with the horseraddy and cheese it works. I’ve not tried any other sandwiches, but I’m not opposed to doing so. I like Boars head meat and I don’t know if they carry that. But this place is good if you are around the Hollywood area, it’s right across from Arby’s.

This place is awesome!!! I just moved up the street and wanted to try a new spot. It was almost time for them to close but they still let us order our sandwiches. A girl named Samaria helped us and she was so sweet! Our sandwiches were delicious and I will definitely recommend to others. It’s a really cool neighborhood deli, I’m so glad I live close to it. Thanks for the hospitality Samaria :) you’ll definitely be seeing us again!

UPDATE: I know this is a super long review, and the whole thing reads like I just came on Unilocal to whine about the girl that forgot my napkins or something, but before u just pass over this review, pls look at the photo I posted of this chick’s PM to me. Her response is a million times better than this review. She is hilariously shitty. She’s the Azealia Banks of expensive sandwiches. Somewhere out there, there’s an Ed Debevic’s this girl escaped from that’s offering a large cash reward. They miss u Queenie, they just want u to come home!!! Real talk, I actually kind of love her now in a Bad Santa sort of way lol.(Still not going back to Tamarind tho– that traffic!!) — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — I’m calling this review: «THEGIRLWITHTHENOSERING» Gonna try to keep this as unbiased as possible, but bad/rude service really chaps my ass. So having said that, here we go– sandwiches are all $ 9 and up, and at that price point I come to expect a bit more from a sandwich… at the very least, chips and a pickle or something. The sandwiches are a very average size and they come w. absolutely nothing. The bread is totally whatever, but that’s sort of to be expected from most places in LA. The menu definitely looks good, and has a nice variety to it, but something in the execution falls a little short. Under normal circumstances it would be a standard 3-star rating. I got and split the #7(roast beef) and #2(turkey), with my girlfriend… this is where the 2 stars come into play. First we asked the the girl at the counter — THEGIRLWITHTHENOSERING — what was better between the #7 and the #9(corned beef)…she said she didn’t really like either of them lol. But undeterred, we still wanted the corned beef. Unfortunately, they were out of rye, which also ruled out the pastrami as a plan B for us. Instead, we decided for the roast beef and brisket(#1). When I got the sandwiches, we noticed the sandwich actually said #2…so I went in and asked Nose Ring, if maybe she mixed up our order, because I thought she charged me for the more expensive sandwich(the #1). She said, «well, where’s your receipt?». So I found it, looked, and lo and behold… she was right! I said, «You were right». She said«I know.» and I asked if she could charge me the difference and change me out for the brisket, like I wanted. This is where things go south really fast– Nose Ring says, «You were too busy joking with your girlfriend and not paying attention. I told you we don’t have the #1 or the #9». Which is fine, I guess… but I definitely never ordered the #2. I personally don’t like olive tapenade and turkey wasn’t high on my list either, so I guess she took the liberty of putting me down for her own personal taster’s choice, cuz I for sure didn’t order it haha. I was pretty taken aback, by her snappiness, so I kinda just said«uhhh ok», and turned to leave. I feel like I’m kind of downplaying the exchange, because, as I was walking out the door, another customer stopped me and said«Did that really just happen? Is she for real?» and the women standing in line turned around and added«Yeah, that’s unbelievable». Ultimately, I watched 2 other customers walk out without ordering while I sat outside eating two very mediocre sandwiches with my girlfriend… we were both very careful not to make any more jokes for the rest of lunch. Aside from The Girl With The Nose Ring, here’s the breakdown: Food: whatever. too expensive for what you’re getting. it’s a very average size. quality was mehh… really didn’t want that turkey sandwich, and that olive tapenade is just not for me. the roast beef was fresh, but the sandwich itself was pretty bland. Location: it’s really right in the mess, of a whole lot of traffic. you have multiple freeway entrances and exits over here, plus everyone trying to get to and from downtown. accessibility is about a 3 on a scale of 1 to… idk, let’s say 50. Service: haha, yeah… right… The truth is, I really like writing good reviews on here, and since I don’t have many reviews in total, this one kind of drags down my average. What a bummer.

The deli where everyone knows your name, and what you order. I can go in and ask for the usual and they just know which is awesome! Service is amazing, and consistency in taste and quality is unmatched. I visit this place at least three times a week and it never disappoints! Do yourself a favor and try the #1(Which they are famous for) or the #7 My personal favorite :)

I would’ve loved to give a 5 star review but the customer service for myself and two coworkers was awful! Usually would recommend to everyone from previous experiences however the gal behind the counter was flat out rude! Not a busy day(we were the only 3 in there and also I looked thinking a ton of to go orders yet none). Even if busy no excuse for the way we were treated. The gentleman making sandwiches were very nice and helpful too, they were looking at her like she was crazy also. Hate to leave the bad review and honestly believe this is my first on «Yelp». Thinking about calling to complain, want to mention her name here but I won’t do that… Soooooo, if you go in, great food, selection of great sodas but DON’T EXPECT A SMILE around 1245/1pm on a Tuesday.

As recommended to me by my boss, I gave tamarind a try for lunch. I was not disappointed. All the meats are Boars Head and their sandwiches are a great price($ 8-$ 9) and have plenty of meats, cheeses, and other toppings. Plus, they’re really quick and low key. Really like this place.

One of the very best sandwiches I’ve ever had! First of all, the place is super quaint and has a lot of character. All the sandwich options sounded amazing to me but I went with the #1(beef brisket, horseradish dressing, arugula, smoked mozzarella, grilled onions). Since I’m not a fan of horseradish, I substituted it with their garlic parmesan aioli which was fantastic. The beef was really juicy, frankly I could eat it alone! Definitely coming back! Thanks for a great sandwich.

I have nothing bad to say about the establishment or the food but I will not go back. Customer Service was deplorable. New female cashier was so blatantly rude, I could not believe it. No personality, seemed put out and gave attitude the whole time.

I randomly swung in yesterday for a quick bite with my boyfriend. This place is perfect. Fresh, great bread, amazing choices of beverages, great quick service, super cute venue. It’s giving you like a carrol gardens brooklyn feel — right in hollywood. I feel in love as soon as we got there! HOWEVER, it was not until 30 minutes after I left I realized how good this place was! I left my bag under our our table when we left. It had my laop top, credit cards, wallet and work stuff in it — not to mention it’s a mulberry clutch…(HAIRFLIP!). I turned around and headed back to the café. Trey, the same, super handsome, super helpful, super funny, super quick person who had rung it up was waiting for me with my bag in hand! Needless to say I was relieved and thankful, happy and humbled.
