Called at 10:30, got an appointment at 1 for a deep tissue. Jack does not mess around. He got in there, worked my strained periformis (??) and was sweet and gentle when I needed it. Just a great little gem. GO.

I’m not one to leave bad reviews… or any reviews actually but I feel the need to forewarn others after «massage» I just had.
I’ve been here twice before today and both ladies I had were amazing, focused, and super strong and as a result I was relaxed and my back was knot-​free. the woman I just had was sloppy, rushed, and aggressive. even the way she plucked each limb out from under the sheet was rough.
at one point she undid my ponytail with such force that it ripped hair out, which I forgave since it happens, but then when she did it AGAIN ripping even more hair out I pretty much knew what the next 45 minutes were going to be like.
she had no technique. it was just vigorous, fast, rubbing. I almost asked her to stop half way through because it was making me more stressed than relaxed. I was told by the front desk people that that is just her «style.»
So if you like that «style» then ask for Nicole!

My girlfriends and I went in for group massages. I was so happy that they were able to accommodate a large group. All of us got Swedish massages. I must admit the pressure was bit more than anticipated for a Swedish but maybe my back is too tight. Everything was very tranquil. What completely won us over is that they got my friend a birthday cake! That was so sweet! When my friend booked the reservation she let them know that it was for her birthday celebration. Such a nice gesture is greatly appreciated!

This place was amazing! The staff is super helpful and the massage was everything I needed. Exactly what I expected. Don’t forget. Cash only!

This was just what I needed to relax the day before my birthday. I dance and workout 4 times a week and the combo Swedish/​Thai massage was perfect to get me refreshed.

I’ve been coming to this place for years. Nothing super fancy, which I prefer most of the time. Their Thai/​Swedish combo will rock your world. Jack is the best!

In a sea of so-​so sometimes subpar Thai massage parlors in Thai Town and Silverlake, Barai is one of my go to places for a much needed monthly massage. Whenever I call, I can always manage to get an appointment the same day. The receptionist is really nice. Based on previous recommendations, I have always requested JACK, and he is phenomenal! Talented, careful, thorough, unhurried, with all the right pressure and motions to relieve your body of stress, tension, and unwanted feelings. And the combination price of $ 40 (must pay with cash) is totally worth it and then some! Plus the relaxing music and lounge, with hot tea and fresh fruit, afterward is a very nice touch. Got a loyal customer here!

It’s so hard to find a therapist who does really good back work. Dao knew exactly what to do for my tweaked lower back. Highly recommended.

As so many have said, Barai Day Spa is transcendence.
I come here about once a month to forget about everything. I mean EVERYTHING.
It’s all about being present. After all, the present is a gift to us. ;)
If you know me, I have a tendency to have tense muscles. Why? Because I’m one stressed out individual! So, I need a lot of work to be done on this body of mine. The folks at this spa know what they are doing.
Located on the usually busy and noisy Hyperion Ave, enter a world of quiet and calm. There is a small parking lot that can be stressful to get in and out of. So, instead of that, I usually park on a side street and just walk over.
Once inside, it’s time to remove your shoes and use one of the provided pairs of slippers (or not). It’s time to breathe deeply. It’s time to recenter. It’s time to reconnect. It’s time to be kind to yourself. :)
The massage therapists are very intuitive and very attentive. Plus, they listen. They will ask about trouble spots and specifically what you want them to work on. Offering different types of massage, I opt for the Swedish-​Thai combo and pay forty dollars in cash. It’s a great deal! It is true that if you pay by credit, you won’t get the deal (extra credit card fees are applied). Still, it’s so worth it, because after getting a massage, you’ll feel like a million bucks!
After that massage, expect to be treated to a small dish of specially crafted cut fruit (often a couple of orange and apple slices) and a cup of hot green tea. Very soothing. It’s an invitation to sit and relax after an hour of transcendence.
Now you’re ready to face the madness of urban living!

I usually go to Delight Day Spa on Fletcher, but thought I would try a new spot that is so highly rated on Unilocal since my favorite masseuses there had the day off. Unfortunately I must have had one of the couple masseuses there that gets the bad reviews.
This was one of the worst massages I’ve ever had! The first 30 mins of my massage were nice, but the last 60 felt like the masseuse was merely going thru all of the motions and wasn’t happy about it Most of the massage on my head was nearly unbearable, either the pressure was way too much or she was just mindlessly rubbing back and forth so quickly, with so much friction you’d think she was trying to start a fire. The base of my head feels bruised not only from the amount of pressure, but the fact that the one area was massaged for so long, while ignoring the other parts of my neck and shoulders. The same mindless, friction inducing rubbing back and forth continued throughout with no real focus on individual muscles. I’ve had lots of massages in my life and can say that this is second on my list of worst massages.
I’ll stick with Delight Day Spa from now on. I’ve had 30+ massages there with nearly every masseuse and have always received a fantastic massage!

I’ve been to Barai many times over the years, but after the massage I got last night, I had to finally write a review. I was cramped and stressed from my long holiday travels, and this was perfection. Every time I call, they’re able to schedule me within an hour or two (though it never hurts to plan ahead). All the massage therapists are great (kudos to Pitt, my guy from last night). And afterwards, you get fruit and tea. In addition, the prices are great. My new year’s resolution: at least one massage every month!

THE BEST PLACE! I’m in love with this place. They totally make all my stress balls disappear every time. I highly recommend this place! You will come out of there back alive!

I’ve been here about 5 times and usually the massages are really nice. Great price and gets the job done. My last one here though was really disappointing. The massage just wasn’t great in all aspects. Not that effective, pressure wasn’t consistent, poor use of time etc. The masseuse also used really cold damp towels instead of warm ones for the majority of the time, and the space was right next to the sink/​bathroom so pretty loud. She never once asked about preferred pressure or any other normal short questions that are usually brought up at any massage. Just got in and then walked out immediately at the end. No ‘end of massage’ stretching like usual, that was it. That was the only massage like that that I’ve had there, but was poor enough to brand this place a 3-​star experience sadly.

I’ve been going here for about five years. It was my spot until I moved to the other side of LA. I can always get an appointment and they’re very prompt with their appointments. I’ve had many masseuses and they’re always good. They always focus on problem areas if I ask. Definitely a local gem in Silver Lake.
One tip: bring cash! The prices are much better with cash.

My partner and I have been going here for the last 2 years or so, sometimes once a week. It is something we enjoy doing together, as well as something which helps us both with past back injuries. The last time we went here two things happened. First, my partner’s masseuse injured her ankle, which is something she had never complained about, though she did mention getting a very negative vibe from that particular masseuse in the past (the little guy with glasses). Next, the front desk/​owner woman told my partner that she must be feeding me a lot — this is the second time this woman has made a comment about my weight in the last few months. My partner informed the woman the reason for my weight gain (I recently kicked a 20 plus year smoking habit).
We have been good, cash paying customers (I have never complained about your sketchy ATM which charges a fee) for the last couple years. We have recommended you to our friends, even sending them there with gift certificates on some occasions. How dare you treat us like this!
Needless to say we will NEVER be back nor will we have a kind word to say about your abusive, body hating establishment. Feel very lucky that my partner’s injury wasn’t worse and my ego is greater than your pathetic comments.

Love this place ! The service & experience can’t get any better for the price. I have been here multiple times & i can say all the masseuses are great ! I definitely recommend this place.

$ 60 for a 90 minute Swedish/​deep tissue combination massage with a little Thai thrown in too? YES PLEASE. I will be back every other week. I saw Nicole and she was excellent.
Some of the photos of the lobby look a little sketch, but the rooms themselves are really nice and clean and dark/​peaceful/​soothing.
I was also able to call in around noon and get a 6pm appointment the day of.

My first time here and may I say, I love it! I came to get a the Swedish massage and facial. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The receptionist greeted us very nicely, always had a smile. I am very happy with the facial results, my face never looked so amazing.
The vibe in this place is great. When you’re done with your massage, they give you hot tea and fruit. I’m for sure coming back!!! :)
