Nice chill place for a night time drink! Downside – they charge a cover charge on Saturday nights($ 20). Sausages as part of their menu were good, but you can get the same quality sausage without having to pay that cover charge. You’re really paying for the ambiance. I guess it’s kind of cool that you can wander the rooftop and into the clubby-er section with the pool, with fancier dressed patrons.

WORST Place ever! I give them 1 star because I can’t give them less. This is my Worst service experience. We went there last nights to celebrate my husband’s birthday at the biergarten at the rooftop. My husband, his cousin and I made it to the top after 3 check points. When our friends started getting there the security people outside stopped them not letting them in because there was a «private event» going on. I called them a week ago, I called them the same day to check and they said«Sure you guys can come and celebrate here… no problem» No one ever mentioned the«private event». I spent like 30 minutes trying to find a manager or someone to help me and the employees were so rude(specially security guys) even disrespectful. I was feeling so bad and frustrated because everyone already paid $ 20 for valet parking, there were like 12 people outside just waiting, we already ordered some drinks, and no one was trying to help me or explain to me what was going on??? When I was leaving«the manager»(the rudest guy I ever met) wasn’t even paying attention to what I was saying and with a really bad attitude. So disrespectful. Anyway I don’t recommend this place to anyone, the service is so bad, they’re so disorganized, they just don’t care about the client. They were even making fun of me and my situation. Horrible experience!

Deutschland, Vaterland! For a taste of Germany in LA, the biergarten is definitely a great place. It is located within the Standard Rooftop Bar, and you just walk right in to the ivy surrounded area. There, you will find plenty of seating amid a low-light and intimate setting. There is a bar selling German beer in tall glasses. They also sell traditional German sausage, but I did not try it this time. As we were on our way to dinner, we just stopped by to enjoy the moment. However, I will come back here soon, so stay tuned for an update.

I’ve been to the standard a few times now, and always have an excellent time! The staff is always super friendly! This time, however, I was craving sausage… So, I stumbled into the Biergarten. It was quiet, and super chill. Kristin was manning the bar, and really made my experience great! As I hung alone, taking down the sausage and beer, I felt like I was with friends! We laughed, danced, talked beer and spirits! It was so refreshing to have such a real, genuine person behind the bar! You could tell she actually cared about the people she served, and wanted everyone to have a great time! I’ll come back here every week to hang with this red-headed gem! I Kristin!(And sausage)

Nice little Octoberfest place. German theme sausage and beer spot right next to the rooftop bar. Ping Pong table available. Biergarten perfect after drinking and smoking and partying poolside. Limited beer selection, alright sausages. Just to cross that bridge of hunger when you’re drunk.

If you make it up here through all of the guards, I would at least try the biergarten. But to be honest, the sausage isn’t amazing. Also, after waiting really long when we were hungry, we got our sausages and one of them was burnt. What I do like here is Das Boot! But overall, if you want some good beers and good sausage, I would point you in the direction of Wurstkuche.

My favorite spot in downtown Los Angeles! Make sure to stop by and chill from the madness of taxis and tourist and grab a drink from a real bartender like Erica, and a German sausage from Carlton! If you see me, I’ll challenge you to a ping-pong match day or night!

I recently attended a rehearsal dinner celebration here and it was wonderful. The food was delicious, the venue perfect for all who attended and the service/security was excellent,. I would recommend this venue.

Has this been here the whole time? I’ve been to the standard a few times for various parties, and had no idea this German gem had been waiting for me the whole time. I swung by relatively early on Saturday night with my girlfriends as our first destination of several. We had some fun banter with the very tall handsome bouncer, who mentioned something about the boots in the beergarden. So we decided to check it out, mostly to corroborate his story. Sure enough, an adorable astroturfed oasis of low lighting, ping pong tables and bizarre drinks was right there. We were greeted with a huge smile by a whimsical bartender, Jack wearing an ironic leaderhosen T shirt and telling us «Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you this whole time!» It felt like we were in a alternate reality. He said the party hadn’t really started yet but would rev up within the hour, and mentioned that his is his favorite time of night since he gets to have fun interactions with ladies like ourselves, who are apparently not the first to be enlightened about this place. We couldn’t really understand the drink menu, so he suggested we try the bee sting, which was a wheat beer with a shot of homey bourbon. Safe to say, this is my favorite new drink. Plus they have a blossuming tree of pretzels and an extensive sausage menu. I’m sold on this place. Jack mentioned that it’s usually a little less crowded than the other bar, so we can sneak back here and get our bee stings without wading through the masses drunk insanity on the other side. Cant wait to hit this place up again. Will definitely save room for pretzels and sausages, when I’m feeling a little naughty :)

The Biergarten is everything that the rooftop bar at the Standard isn’t. You exit the elevator and decide, turn right for the bar or left for the Biergarten? Turning left takes you to a small strip lined with greenery that does not have the same expansive view of the surrounding buildings, it not as busy or crowded, and has a small bar with a few beers and cocktails, as well as a food station. Beers are OK, but there were only 3. Get the liter, since it is twice the cost of the pint(which I really doubt is a full pint) and at least 3x the beer. The mugs are all plastic, and a bunch of them a \chipped. It is almost like there was this spare strip on the rooftop and the hotel wanted to do something with it. So get off the elevator and look at the crowd. If what you see is not for you, hang a left and check out the Biergarten. I would rather have the view, even if I do have to deal with the crowds.

I was out in LA on business and after my meeting I stuck around for a little cocktail hour. It was my first time at the Biergarten. Josh helped me pick the yummiest beer. It’s like he knew my taste buds better than me! So yes try this place out. Great views, awesome staff, and great beer selections. Till next time :)

Went to The Standard’s Biergarten for the first time, and I was blown away! The drinks were things I have never tried before, and the whole area layout was inviting. The bartender Josh was extremely helpful, and gave stellar service. He made an Italian Soda cocktail, and it might be mu new favorite drink! I can’t wait to come back here soon!!!

I came here for a private Christmas party last December and never knew the biergarten existed. I’ve been to a few summer rooftop parties in the past but never noticed this bar on the level below. It’s a relatively small bar with a some patio seating, heat lamps, a foosball table, and ping pong tables. It’s got a nice view and the view gets better as the sun sets and you’re under the stars. The beer selection is pretty limited which was a little disappointing for a biergarten, but they have a full bar. Tried the pretzels and they were pretty underwelming as well. Maybe I wasn’t sold, but they were trying too hard with the biergarten theme that it was a little tacky. I was expecting something chiller with a more organic vibe and larger beer variety like Wurstkurche in the Arts District. But hey! it’s always fun to drink out of a boot! DASBOOOOOOT!

This place was SO much fun. I loved it. LOVED it! My parents(who are way cooler than me) have been trying to get me to come here forever and we finally took them up on it last Sunday. I think we happened to hit the jackpot with a lot of situational factors too. Le BF and I came here last Sunday, a Sunday night(which I’ve heard is normally extremely chill), but President’s Day was the next day so I think there was a bit of a weekend crowd too. We didn’t want to deal with street parking so we parked in the nearby $ 10 dollar lot(slightly annoying but not terrible for downtown. Also not bad split a few ways). We then made our way through the Standard. The Standard is a beautiful, modern, way too hipster to be real life type of hotel. But I found it not obnoxiously hipster, more like embracing all the fun elements of hipsterism type hipster. We went up the escalator to the 2nd floor(literally just following people who looked like they knew where they were going). There was a ping-pong bar there! Looked awesome — but I had beer and pretzels on my mind. We made our way to the rooftop and were immediately greeted with a beautiful rooftop view of the LA city skyline. I stood in awe. After walking around and soaking it all in for a few minutes, we made our way over to the Biergarten and ordered some brews. The pilsner was crispy, fresh, refreshing perfection. Tasted just like Deutschland. Le BF’s hefeweizen was equally nomtastic. My only complaint with that is that they served them in plastic cups, not the glasses specifically designed for each beer(they have different glasses on purpose so that the beer hits your mouth a certain way designed by the brewer). But my mouth was happy. We ordered a cheddarwurst at the recommendation of the guy handling the food and a giant pretzel to split. Both were insanely delicious. They had both spicy and sweet mustard which made me really happy. Sussenf(sweet mustard) is my absolute favorite. They also had more ping pong tables on the roof! I don’t know how you could get better than pingpong, beer, and pretzels. The only buzz kill(besides downtown parking) is that the food/beer is fairly expensive at $ 8 for everything — beer, wurst, a pretzel, etc. I have also heard they charge a cover on weekends. So meh I hope that’s not the case and is a dirty rumor. But I will be back!!! I don’t know how you can get better than fresh beer, giant pretzels, and an amazing rooftop view of LA. Bottom line: If you like brezeln und bier and like and/or can tolerate the LA hipster scene — do it! :) Like now. Right now.

Rooftop mayhem! We had a pretty stellar happy hour group meeting here with many people. It was a nice outdoor spot that was warmed by those cool fire heaters. The bar was open and they served us pretzels with different kinds of German sausages and dipping sauces. The veal and chicken ones were pretty bland unfortunately, the curry one was interesting and the cheddarwurst was of course the best! Some of the dipping sauces were pretty good for the pretzels. The service was good and quick, it seemed like they had good beers but I just stuck with some sugar free red bulls. We had a good night, with good company and dialogue. It was close, convenient and comfy. I don’t know if there will be any more happy hours here but it was a good experience and I enjoy trying new things.

Limited food and drink menu, but great stuff! They have 3 Bavarian/German beers: I had the darkest — the Kostritzer Schwartz — delicious with a hint of almost caramel. They have giant pretzels, a few different style of hot dogs and toppings, and a choice of a few Bavarian style salads/sauerkraut dishes. I ordered a bacon-wrapped hot dog — could barely finish the two dogs and German side salad that came out. Delicious!!! Can’t wait to come back to order it again!

How have I never seen this part of the rooftop at The Standard? Shrouded by(fake?) shrubbery and bird-shaped wind ornaments, the Biergarten has a small bar, lots of umbrella’d benches, a chef’s cart and the obligatory ping-pong table. Service was great the the food was DELICIOUS. The chilled sausage salad was definitely delicious. It accompanied the bacon wrapped Bernerwurst really well! If you’re downtown and you need a quick lunch with relaxing feel on a gorgeous rooftop, I got you this. BIER!

This is a great place to drink cold beers on a sunny afternoon. Plus, their weisswurst is totally legit. The benches seem a little flimsy though so be careful! In the hour that I was there, I saw 3 people narrowly escape painful and embarrassing accidents. PS — Just to manage expectations, the sexy lady featured on their website was not working there when I went.

Always nice to enjoy drinks on a rooftop, especially when there’s a ping pong table. We didn’t get to play any, though… because we were too busy getting sloshed. One of us fell off the bench and we were asked to leave… It’s not actually that high up, but there are few places like this in downtown. The only negative? It’s pricey.

As much as I wanted to love this place, I really couldn’t. I really love the concept. And believe you me, I’ve been peer-pressuring my coworkers to come here with me for 2 weeks before they caved and we went. But the food was too expensive and was ok. And it was dead. It’s kinda awkward when you and your coworker are the only ones there. The ladies were more than accomodating. The cook/chef went back to the kitchen to grab some containers for us when we requested one. Bavarian wurst — for something that had both veal and pork in it, it was surprisingly bland. Thank God for the mustards available. Pretzel — not your bagged pretzel. But still OK. Devor is fantastic though.
