He’s a horrible teacher, spent most of his time talking about himself and saying its ok to steal other comics material. He got kicked off of americas got talent for stealing the MC’s jokes. I saw him make a lot of notes as the comics were doing their bits but offering garbage in suggestions. I took 2 different classes back to back and it was a huge waste of money.

I took the stand up comedy classes of crowd work & riffing class as well as handling hecklers. The handling hecklers class was about 1 day too late because the night before my set was ruined by a heckler I just couldn’t handle. The fresh experience though made the class even that more relevant to me and I’ve had a few hecklers since who suffered the wrath of the lessons I learned. It was awesome. The power, the mother“effing” power. I liked the teaching style of Greg Wilson(the instructor) he mixed lessons, stories and jokes to make the information interesting and then gave us a mic and let us practice what we were learning. For me, the riffing was really challenging during the class but it really helped me be a understand how to be a much better comedian, find my comedic voice and really take my understanding of the art of stand up comedy to a whole new level. Before the class I had no real structure to my jokes, few punchlines and little confidence. Since the class, my jokes are tight, I have a good punchline structure and much more confidence. As my comedy was more of an amateur nature before the class I had never been able to get beyond the feature level — and I was was more like the feature for the feature. The token vagina on stage. However, since the class it was like I took a comedy steroid, My newfound confidence enabled me to have successful headlining shows, consistent paid gigs through booking agents and turned this passion and love into a career. I learned more in one weekend of classes than a few years of stage work only. Now open mic’s aren’t the only place I can do comedy but instead just a workshop for me to develop my material using the tools I wish I had several years ago. When I accept my Oscar, Emmy and/or Golden Globe I will thank Greg Wilson & his comedy institute. Not from stage or anything, but in my heart, I mean it’s MY day.

Missed Greg’s Mastering Stand Up class, so I bought the DVD. 4 hours of training that is really helpful, and I can watch it over and over! I then went to his Crowd Work & Riffing 1 day seminar. Parking on and around the Vienna Café /Melrose is a problem, especially at lunchtime, so get there early to find parking. In spite of that, it was totally worth it! So glad I went! He brings experience, knowledge, and passion for comedy to his students using instruction, techniques, and exercises that I hadn’t heard of before. He’s encouraging and hilarious! Looking forward to the Handling Hecklers class. Great experience! Great teacher!

There are a lot of stand up comedy classes out there and to be honest most of them are a joke. This one is not and I’ll tell you why. Greg Wilson is both an awesome comic and an awesome teacher. He brings decades of experience and explains things in easy to understand terms. I took his crowd work class and I have felt more free and comfortable on stage ever since. If you’re going to take a stand up class, make it Gregs! You won’t be sorry, you will be a better comic.

The Greg Wilson’s Stand Up Comedy Class is the best in Los Angeles if not the nation. It gives new comics not only the basics of joke writing but a realistic look at what it takes to be a Stand Up Comedian from somebody who’s currently working in the business. He brings an unstoppable energy and passion for what he teaches. No nonsense, no babying, but lots of fun. The class itself is hilarious. Greg first teaches you how to trust your voice and dig deeper and then polish those raw ideas into solid bits with multiple punch lines. He inspires and challenges his students to «show up for stand up comedy every day.» Right after taking Greg’s Mastering Stand Up class I was given the opportunity to host my own show. The confidence and process I got from Greg’s class have been invaluable to my success as a host.
