I’m here on a Sunday night and it’s dead. No shortage of dudes here. However my ten dollar apple martini isn’t bad. Anyways, the bar itself looks appealing to the eye but it’s loud in here. I’m guessing that this bar is more of the type of place where you bring your friends and homegirls. It’s not a pick up kinda bar. The drinks aren’t super expensive. I’m giving this place a two because of my Sunday experience. It was cracking at all.

Amazing atmosphere with great food. Will be going back on the regular. I love that they have a smoking section outdoors and the indoor fire pits add a cool vibe to the experience

Came here because my friend lives close by. Good place to chill out and drink. Jukebox contained classics. But wasn’t too loud that you can’t hold a conversation. Place is kind of dark and reserved. I liked that I didn’t have to worry about guys hitting on me while I start to get tipsy. Will be back!

Been here a ton of times, always had a great time. This time however, we asked for the drink menu at the bar, and the UBER-hipster bartender just waved at the wall and said whiskey, so I asked to have a Goldrush made. She said she never heard of it and that the other bars I’ve had it at had just made it up. After googling it there were pages of recipes. Then I looked left, and a guy had a drink menu. I think these bartenders just dont care. Needless to say, we left and probably won’t be coming back any time soon.

Great drink prices and you get to feel like you are in a tavern from Game of Thrones or house Griffindor. Fun spot. Smokey patio, fair warning. Would definitely go back.

Great vibes, lots of mingling, very cozy environment and ambiance, free street parking found really easily on a Friday night. Tried the mule and the blood orange whiskey sour, both were great and pretty strong. Very reasonable prices as well. Had the tater tots but they were saltier than my ex. Which was the only downside next to having to order everything at the bar(no waiters). Definitely would come back though, loved the indoor fireplace too!

This is definitely an intimate place to have private conversations with that special someone or just to simply catch up with a long lost friend. It has very low lighting. Very romantic. I came here after an UYE with Jeff and Tora. We were there for a very short amount of time before moving onto the next bar. I like how here’s an outdoor area. It seems very comfy and it’s the perfect spot for someone to get some fresh air or smoke a cigarette.(I know what a contradiction)

I love this spot! Great bar food with a decent size menu. Tater tots are on point in a heaping basket! Spot on burger, my go to used to be the chicken and waffle for reverse brunch. Not sure if they still have it. They serve food late too so you can get yummy late night food and a tasty cocktail. Last night had a proper Moscow mule served in copper mug which is always a plus in my book. I do love the close proximity to other bars as well so you can bar hop to the tam o shanter, roost, big foot lodge and the Morrison. If you like the show new girl the outside of this bar is the bar in the show. The inside is filmed elsewhere.

I use to work at the Tmobile across the street in Los Feliz. The drinks here are good. Nice chill spot, you can order food here all night. They have a small patio if you need to smoke outside. Nice chill place to relax and grab some drinks with your cool and workers. Décor: two fire pits and lots of places to sit and hang around. There is a back room if you need to hold a private party. Parking: street parking, metered in the front only for half an hour max til midnight. Verdict: Chill spot for the night time crowd.

Terrrrific! I had such an awesome time at the griffin! I came here with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. This place is very chill & laidback not to mention that it is perfect for a small group to get together and enjoy the night. The ambiance just screams«relax», the bartenders are cool, the food is just right especially combined with the libations of your choice which for this evening I skipped my Moscow Mule and stuck with its American counterpart the Kentucky Mule which has become my new favorite. Aside from their many cocktails craft beers and different bevies will satisfy ones alcohol cravings to loosen up and decompress after a long days work. Their juke box provides many selections of old time faves as well as contemporary sounds of your liking — with a few dollars, you can have your preferred music to further enjoy the night. Parking can be tough to find but not really an issue especially if you know how to parallel park just don’t forget to feed the meter as parking enforcers in this area doesn’t seem to sleep. Make sure to read the signs to save yourself from the dreadful parking ticket. I know that there are many good bars close or around the area but if you so happen to be in this side of town, go ahead and try the Griffin– you just can’t go wrong. Cheers!

The bar from New Girl Show! — Well, just the exterior. Bar where Nick works at from the show. Better quality bar food — Pot Pie(Mash potato with gravy), poutine fries, tater tots, special sandwiches and burgers, etc. Happy Hour 7days a week 5pm-7pm Drinks, $ 5 fries, tots, wings, mini burger, etc. We missed the happy hour but still was able to grab some dinner and drinks here. Came around 7:30pm or 8pm on a Wednesday night. Only a few people occupied the place with a security guard at the front. Great mellow, dim lighted, chill bar. Its a cabin/prohibition feel. It got busier around 9pm. Moscow Mule/Kentucky Mule drinks require you to leave a drivers license hostage with them… I’m guessing people have been jacking these? Although this place looks like a safe(not ghetto) place. They have a small outdoor gate/brick enclosed patio — pretty nice even for SoCal winters. Suggest this place for wkday date nights. Or I’d assume a favorite spot for locals to chill, grab a drink and catch up with friends. They also have a somewhat secluded extra bar on the side. That area would be a great chill birthday area to rsvp. Bartenders/Servers: Awesome. Friendly. The drinks were strong and good. Parking: Street meter.

Damn good bar food, if you believe that! My boyfriend works in the area and we arranged to meet up after work to have a beer and a bite to eat, so we stopped here after several of his coworkers suggested it. It was pretty dead on a weekday night about 6pm but we didn’t mind. The vibe was nice with two fires going inside to warm us up. We decided to order the Griffin burger to share with an order of tater tots and two beers. The burger was surprisingly grade A. We had tried the Morrison across the way a few weeks back so i wasn’t expecting much but this burger was juicy and flavorful! The patty was thick and cooked a nice medium and the tater tots were crispy and perfectly salted. We cleaned out that burger in record time and almost ordered a second. Beer selection is top notch highlighting a lot of local microbreweries with some old tried and true taps too. This might be my favorite bar on this side of town which is just my luck because now I have extra incentive to meet boyfriend for post-work drinks.

This place was a cool surprise. Dark and old school, this is a great bar. The drinks were simple and nothing fancy, which sometimes I need a break from mixologists pouring something with 7 ingredients with a gin I’ve never heard of. They have decent draft beer selection to choose from, so the BF was pleased. I stuck with vodka and kept it neat. We ordered food and everyone seemed to enjoy what they had. You won’t find anything healthy here and while they have salads on the menu, it’s not exactly the kind of thing you eat here. BF and split the BLT and pulled pork sandwiches and both were quite good. Oxtail poutine was also a win. French fries crispy and well done just the way I like them. Friends got fish and chips and a pesto chicken sandwich and were happy. No problem parking on the street, fast and friendly service and it appeared to be very clean. Rock music while within my genre was a little loud to have a conversation, but the fireplaces near the tables made up for that. We were here on a slow night probably because of the rain, but I see this place being packed. However, I enjoyed the fact that it was not busy. I never to rarely go to the east side in this neighborhood, but i would go back if I’m near the Griffith Park area for an event.

I came here one while I was visiting in Los Angeles. We were just stopping in for drinks but I really liked the environment! It’s a bit darker but kind of reminds me of Harry Potter. The night I went there was a special for blood orange whiskey gingers which were amazing. We also ended up getting the tater tots which were also great. They come with a lot so it’s perfect for sharing! Overall this is a really cool place. Service was a little slow to get drinks. We went at a time where it wasn’t super busy.

I came for the tater tots! Not kidding! My girlfriend wanted to celebrate her birthday at The Griffen and I happily obliged. First things first, being from the SGV area, it’s not in DTLA so if you’re planning on drinking(as you should) I suggest carpooling and have a friend who’s going to DD for the night. Über and Lyft may cost a pretty penny if you don’t have friends nearby to crash at. You may initially miss the location if it’s your first visit but luckily we didn’t and once IDs checked we proceeded inside. Not super packed but not empty, a good amount of folks. We easily found a table large enough to accommodate our group. There are two bar areas so drinks ands food can be ordered quickly. For myself, I had the Hennessy on the rocks, the birthday girl was a vodka and cranberry and of course, tator tots. Drinks are strong, just how I like it! Tots were on point and we loved it soooo much, we ordered it again! The place was never fully packed which was fine. We had our group and enjoyed the night away. I can’t say I’ll make the trip back here just because, as many other places closer to me. However, I always love new places. Tips– valet, street or lot. Music is full blast.

The Griffin’s Harry Potter vibe gets me every time. That and everything else about this place. Seriously this place is freaking awesome. First, I have to talk about this burger I had there. I cannot stop thinking about it. The meat left an impression on me. It was so juicy and delicious. Plus, the addition of garlic aioli and bacon sent me into a daze. This was truly an exceptional burger. It certainly left me satisfied and smiling. I loved this place’s chill atmosphere. It’s not a crowded affair, and that’s something I value in a bar. Some of the other patrons dressed up in Gryffindor garb the last time I went. There was nothing significant about the date, either – no events or any reason to dress up. That gives me hope that this is a semi-regular affair at The Griffin, and if that is the case, this place wins for best clientele. About the drinks: they have some good deals and a decent selection of drinks. The beer selection was not the best, but it didn’t destroy my experience. I was able to enjoy some whiskey after I had had my fill of cheap beer. Overall, The Griffin is a novel and fun place. Definitely recommend for a fun night out with your friends.

I stopped in here for the first time recently and it had such a cool vibe! It felt like a cross between an english pub and the world of harry potter(and I’m not a huge harry potter fan.) But more importantly, the beer selection was diverse and offered items I haven’t seen any in any other bars in LA or SF. Just when I thought I wasn’t going to be able to find any more pumpkin beers this season, this bar had Night Owl Pumpkin(Elysian) on tap. If I lived in Los Feliz, I would definitely come here regularly.

Came for a few drinks on a Sunday night with some co workers. My husband and came first and we were hungry so we went to the bar to order food. Tried their pumpkin beer(night owl?) and a Kentucky mule, whiskey instead of vodka. Both pretty good! Ordered the PB& J burger, and another burger,(can’t remember, it’s name) and small order of tater tots. Everything was delicious! I’m not a fan of sweet and savoury so I didn’t enjoy the PB& J, but my husband loved it. The only down side is there’s no parking! Good luck squeezing into a spot on a narrow residential street full of cars… The staff are fine, don’t seem to move very fast but I’d rather wait than get crappy or rude service. Recommended if you carpool or taxi, lyft, über.

This happens to be one of the first bars that I ever went to in LA. At the time, it was a great distance for me to drive to and I was quite nervous over whether I could have one drink and still be able to drive home hours later. Thankfully, I’ve come back a more knowing drinker, and ubered there as well. This to me tends to be a great spot for a birthday, it’s got a big dining hall area with enough tables and plenty of room to mill about if you’re meeting up with a bunch people. In other words, it’s a good birthday celebration spot. I’ve only ever come here on the weekends, and I’ve tested neither their food nor their weekday crowds. But if I lived closer, I’d be here more often. It’s an above average bar with some good atmosphere!

I’m still on the fence with The Griffin. I live in the Los Feliz area and finally tried the Griffin. Easy to find parking, just look for street parking and don’t wake the neighbors in Atwater. As you walk in to the bar, you’re pretty amazed as you are transformed from modern hipster LA to something from a medieval movie. The bar itself looks awesome. A large bar area and plenty of seats and tables. Walk up to the bar and order your drinks and food(yes they have food). The ladies will give you a number to place on your table if you order food. The beers were good(on tap) and they make mean mixed drinks. Average beer prices are about $ 7. The food menu ranges from burgers, to tots, to salads and other appetizers. What put me on the fence is how so many items off their food and on tap menus ran out. No pulled pork burger, I got the last pretzel, two of the beers on tap were out, and the food took a long time(even though we only ordered 2 items). Other than that, the Griffin is a worth-visit. I must try it again…
