I enjoy the happy hour at the main restaurant and the Larder for a laid back lunch! The bathroom is a trip… visit for yourself. You order at the counter and can also order takeout there. The salads on the menu are refreshing and I enjoy them more than the sandwiches. The cappuccino is nice and foamy. In my opinion, the fries here are bomb… reminds me of InNOut but more substantial and very addictive. I think the price point is high for lunch but comparable to other places on San Vicente. They could turn down the AC a little. It’s always freezing. The service is fair and there’s no rush to leave if you’re in the Larder area.

I called this morning to inquire if they had any pumpkin pie. I was told they had pies available and I should come right away before they are sold out. I left work and hurried over only to be told«sorry pies are only for those who special ordered» I explained the conversation I had with employee 20 minutes earlier saying pies are available, salesgirl rudely snapped«well he was wrong.» I explained I drove over just for the pie and really would like to get one but salesgirl didnt care and dismissed me. Very poor customer service I will not return.

Great overpriced brunch in Brentwood. Brisket hash and their Benedict are the tip.

Haven’t tasted the food yet but I had to give this place a five star because of Fatima! She’s amazing and deserves a raise! I HATE flying and she made me smile, which is hard when I travel! Thanks Fatima!

It is with great disappointment that I write this review. The Larder At Tavern has gone downhill, from one of the best lunch places on the west side to a place where the food is hardly worth the price. How the mighty have fallen. The burger is the biggest disappointment of all. I don’t know what happened to this place — maybe the chef changed — all I know is the burger is not as it used to be. The meat is now overcooked. While you used to get a perfect medium rare burger with juices dripping out, you now get a well done patty that is dry as the Mojave desert. They do this despite you asking for your burger to be medium rare, a sign of amateur cooking in a place whose reputation should not tolerate such lack of skill. Further, the components are no longer fresh. That includes both the vegetable toppings and the bread itself. The salads have also become a disappointment. They seem to be left overnight and re-used, because they are certainly not fresh. Getting a beet salad that has clearly been sitting out for twenty four hours is no bueno at all. Whoever decided to take the french dip sandwich off the menu to replace it with the reuben made a huge mistake! That was one of the best french dip sandwiches I had ever had. Finally, while the service at the counter is friendly, the service is also really slow. If you ask for your food they give you a bit of an attitude, which is ridiculous because you should not have to wait over half an hour for a hamburger. Having been to this place enough times over the last few years, I am confident in saying that I won’t be coming back any time soon. The food is not bad, it’s just whatever. The expensive cost of eating here coupled with the increasing competition in the Los Angeles food culture sets the bar pretty high, and the Larder At Tavern fails to meet that bar. What was once great is now simply mediocre.

It’s an attractive building and the interior is nice, too. We ordered the chopped chicken with apple, bacon, mustard & point reyes blue for $ 15 and the Argentine — roast beef, manchego, paprika aïoli & olive chimichurri for $ 16. The salad was bland and SMALL. No bigger than a little side salad. The lettuces were anemic looking, the bacon was tasteless, the few tiny pieces of chicken were dry. The sandwich was a bit better, but again, on the bland side. Absolutely nothing special and expensive for what you get. There are several other pricy restaurants in the area that serve far better food. We won’t go there again.

What’s not to love about the Larder? Fantastic takeout goodies and foodie gifts. I’m in love with their blueberry bread. The sable cookies I also recollect were awesome.

Good food, nice scene, and a great location. I recommend their salads, any of their breakfast entrees, and my personal favorite is their thanksgiving sandwich with their delicious homemade sweet potato chips. You won’t be disappointed.

My fav option for Sunday morning coffee and naughty pastry. There’s better coffee in Brentwood, and maybe better food, but neither under the same roof. So Larder is prob the winner for that hangover-busting combo of coffee and goodies. Service is always nice(if you ask a few times) and there’s never a wait for tables. Bring the newspaper and enjoy…

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I only used the bakery to buy a loaf of bread and a block of cheese, but it is all to die for! Definitely come here if you’re looking to jam out on a cookie or two!

This place is totally DELICIOUS for weekend breakfast/brunch. Mouth watering wonderful. Soft scramble, priests’ pancakes, even the toast basket is delicious. The eggs are creamy and rich with a touch of I don’t know what it’s called maybe anise? So crazy good. I can’t make eggs this well. I’ve been scores of times here, as it’s walking distance from me– and it’s just really good every time. Yes they charge an additional 3% for employee benefits, as does AOC. It’s half service, so in one sense you don’t have to pay tip, but expect $ 12 – 15 /plate and another $ 4 – 10 for a beverage. It’s usually around $ 40 – 60 for two people. I don’t know why Unilocal!is no longer a reliable source of restaurant information for people who value extremely delicious food. But the Larder’s overall rating(3.5 stars??) is one example of this growing problem on Unilocal! I’m not a whiny, high maintenance person– I just like good food and a nice atmosphere and The Larder has both.

I went last night and bought two cookies. Chewy chocolate chip and a ginger molasses. Both were delicious. The service was also great. So why the 2 stars, well, I will tell you. I live in the neighborhood, literally steps away, and I know that they close at 8 pm. So I have found myself walking my dog around 7:50 pm outside of the Larder, looking in to see so many fresh baked goods – cookies, breads, etc – still there, not having been purchased. One day I decided to go in and inquire about end of the day sales. I thought particularly for the bread that they must do this… this is what neighborhood bakeries and the like do! I was told regretfully by an employee at the counter that they do not do such a thing. What do they do with the day old items then? Well… they sell them for breakfast in the morning. No. Just no. Do not try to charge me $ 6 for a croissant that you didn’t sell yesterday. Outrage. I just don’t know what to say, but I am very disappointed.

I stumble on this place since I was staying at the sls hotel next door. The place is cute and since I was not in a rush, so I thought I decided to sit, I asked should I seat myself and the counter dude said, you can sit at the bar. After ordering a chicken sandwich, which they forgot the bacon, it took them another 20 minutes for a piece of bacon, which I said. «what’s taking so long?» Sandwich was good, but I will not be back. Any restaurant who adds 3% for Health coverage for there workers, I disagree. It’s hard enough for us to pay for our own single healthcare coverage, why should I pay for your workers. Why don’t you give them a 3% raise?

Items Selected: Sticky Bun Almond Croissant Salted Caramel Brownie Carrot Cake Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Snickerdoodle Cookie Generally impressed by the food during brunch at A.O.C. despite high prices and service that fell somewhere between poor and nonexistent it was with plans for a leisurely breakfast that I entered Suzanne Goin’s Tavern, but with waitstaff again proving dismissive and downright neglectful of routine duties I quickly rerouted — the ‘larder’ up front a far more casual affair with several pastries tempting behind glass. In essence grab-n’-go, though indoor seating is available with the same menu offered as that in the restaurant, it was entirely in pastry that I invested my appetite and although a request to warm the sticky bun was met with a curt ‘yeah, fine’ by the girl at the counter the rest of the experience was pleasant enough while the goods offered were hit and miss despite being expensive across the board. Beginning first with the aforementioned bun, as nothing else was served until it was warmed, the nut studded brioche can best be called ‘one-note’ given the substantially sweet caramel and moving on to a croissant I expected to disappoint even when I ordered it the results were mostly the same — an odd layer of frosting tossing aside any semblance of nuance and tiling the whole thing sweet despite a nice shatter to the shell. Again underwhelmed by a brownie whose richness overwhelmed any contribution from the lacquer of caramel it was finally in densely spiced carrot cake that Tavern found reprieve and with light ribbons of tangy cream cheese juxtaposing moist cake I’d actually recommend those interested give the Larder a chance if only to buy a slice. Rounding out the order with a trio of cookies that were enjoyed later in the day the Snickerdoodle unfortunately pulled up lame with too much sugar and not enough cinnamon, but faring better the chewy chocolate chip(with a ‘crunchy’ option also available) and the textbook oatmeal raisin were both quite excellent, although perhaps a bit overpriced at $ 1.95 each.

It’s a very pretty place. Ambience and crowd are great. I got the laurel canyon sandwich which is their veggie sandwich and it’s one of the best veggie sandwiches I have had. The sweet potato chips that came with it were yum too. Also their chocolate chip cookie and coffee is really good. It’s a great casual brunch /lunch spot.

You ever want a restaurant to be better than it is? Then The Larder is your spot. Situated front of house to the swanky Tavern, the Larder is the breakfast/brunch compatriot of the high-end establishment. Elegant, understated charm greets the eyescape as soon as you enter through the double doors. You line up in front of the register and grab a menu to figure out what you are going to order. The breakfast selection looks decent, as do the sandwiches and salads — and there’s even a nice assortment of craft beers. House pastrami with purple cabbage, Harissa with red peppers, Lemon-ricotta pancakes and varied teas and coffees. There is also the charcuterie and handful of nicely selected cheeses. Nonplussed about the ideal order, the lady at the counter is too busy in the awkwardly spaced and overstuffed entryway to give a thoughtful answer as per her suggestion, machinelike, is inevitably«the house special» which seems to be the Thanksgiving sandwich. «Sounds good,» you think, and order something else. You pay overpriced but not expensive charges — including 3% healthcare tax — and head to your seat after taking a number. The staff is swift if not altogether friendly, and brings your meal out but forgets your drinks; this is now happened twice. The food, served in smallish but elegant portions, is clearly high-quality… but lacks punch and that final burst of flavor that great restaurants tend to have in droves. Pastrami in your sandwich is lean but served in and inexcusably small portion compared to the red cabbage add mustard; the sweet potato chips are light and delicious but somewhat stale; the chorizo is not chorizo at all but sausage. The rosemary potatoes lack the salt that makes morning potatoes so unctuous. In short, a very high quality establishment that doesn’t execute the way it should — from beginning to end. This is closer to a four star then a three star establishment but it does not warrant the full four stars though in all fairness it doesn’t warrant a three either. A solid 3.5.

My boyfriend loved the brunch here. I thought it was just ok. I had the brisket hash(the meat was tender) and my boyfriend got the egg + chorizo(which had an interesting flavor — he liked the new flavor; i did not). I loved loved loved their chewy chocolate chip cookie. The cookie had great texture and the chocolate was rich, high quality chocolate.

Did you know they do tastings here on the first and third Mondays of every month? Usually it’s wine and cheese but we happened to go last night when it was cocktails and cheese and it was SOGOOD! It usually has four courses plus four drinks but we had a Gilt deal so we also got coffee and desserts, score! Each round was more delicious than the last. Plus the chef and head mixologist would come out in between each course and explain how and why they made each item and why it was so fantastically good. They put so much thought into each meal that the chef said that she had a different fourth course in mind but then when the mussels came in and she saw how good they looked she changed her mind and came up with a new meal to incorporate them. That is just simply amazing… as were the mussels. Plus the mixologist talked about how he let certain items for each drink marinate and ferment for up to a week. WOW! I’m so glad I know about this special offering now. I will definitely be back again!

I’ve been ordering lunch here for the company a lot recently and have found that The Larder at Tavern is a better experience than dining at Tavern itself. Katie has been a great help with getting even same day lunch orders done for a party of 12 – 17 people. They are very strict with the 24 hour notice though and cannot make deliveries without that notice, but since we are down the street this doesn’t seem to be that much of an inconvenience. With all things Brentwood, the price of sandwiches and salads is a little bit on the pricey side so I don’t know if I would truly recommend a $ 300 – 500 tab for something so simple. But I will say the sandwiches and salads are made with high quality ingredients so perhaps the high dollar sign justifies it. I’ve learned to scale back on the number of sandwiches to order as 17 sandwiches for 17 people turns out to be A LOT of leftovers. American in Paris(Ham): Decent. Probably the sandwich I prefer to eat over all the other sandwiches they offer from the sandwich platter. The office prefers them, too. Nicoise(Tuna): This sandwich is really good, HOWEVER, the bread it comes with is a little tough to bite into and makes it a bit ungraceful to eat in front of people. Also, it’s heavily dressed in some kind of fat(oil or mayo, I cannot say) but it’s surprisingly greasy for such a «healthy» sandwich. I love that they put egg in the sandwich. If it weren’t so greasy, I would opt for this sandwich all the time. The Pilgrim(Turkey, Cranberry, Stuffing): At first I really enjoyed this sandwich, but after the second time of ordering this sandwich I got over a sandwich that has more bread in it. I now just take out the stuffing and eat with just the turkey and cranberry and it’s still good. Curry Cauliflower: I love this side. It’s been a must to order this. Farro Salad: I really don’t like this side. It tastes like dish soap. I don’t know how one can achieve this flavor, but that taste is there. Try it, tell me if you feel the same way. Larder Cobb: One big bowl of this is sufficient and then some for a party of 20. All great flavors. Love the ingredients. Cookie Platter: Sometimes they have good cookies in the platter sometimes they really don’t. It hasn’t been consistent. But I still end up getting this platter anyway.

I have a fear of dining alone, but I am slowly getting over it and embracing the act. I have been indulging myself on Sundays and enjoying a solo breakfast or brunch at The Larder At Tavern. It’s a great place to nestle yourself in the cushioned side of one of the tables and people watch. My favorite is the Tavern Benedict — buttery brioche toast topped with poached eggs, gruyère, prosciutto, frisee, and hollandaise. Another savory dish I had was the soft scrambled eggs with fontina and crème fraîche — Creamy eggs served with crisp toast and breakfast potatoes. One of these days I’m going to order the french toast or pancakes, but my sweet tooth is normally satisfied anyway because I bring home a bunch of their yummy pastries. Some standouts for me are: — chocolate chip cookies(chewy or crispy) — I love both. — date, ginger, and molasses cookies — chewy, the right amount of spice — almond croissant — light buttery croissant, filled with frangipane AND almond glaze with sliced almonds I always order some English Breakfast tea… so good. I need to try their coffee. Service is friendly and attentive. Stop by for a meal, or pick up some tasty provisions at The Larder.
