They should be back open soon. Just a permit thing.

I think this place might have closed down suddenly. Showed up on 4÷13÷14 and the place was closed. Looks like a few others last week tried to show up as well with closed doors. Just tried calling and no answer and mailbox is full. I hope they didn’t close it was a cool spot. My rating is for when this place was(?) open. Loved the clown’s cup cocktail. Tots were on point. :)

Need to start out by saying that the happy hour is from 7 – 9 pm. That alone should be enough to propel this place to 5 stars, but having an accomidating happy hour time frame isn’t enough… no…the drinks and food are equally amazing. I started off with the pizza(pepperoni and sausage) and boiler maker(beer and shot). They have a cool little selection of beer and a couple of different liquors to choose from for your shot. I went with Jamison for the shot and a beer that had an elephant on it haha. Both were great. The pizza came out piping hot and delicious. Some of the best pizza I have had at a bar. My girlfriend got two of their mixed drinks and they were fresh and really strong; at $ 12 each I wouldn’t expect anything less. We got there when it literally had just opened up so seating was easy at the bar and the bartenders were really attentive and nice. I can’t wait to come back to this place!!!

I freakin loved this place. My boyfriend took me here during their happy hour on Friday and everything from their food to their drinks and service was excellent. One of my biggest pet peeves about a bar is if im sitting there with an empty glass and the bartenders keep walking by me like im not thirsty and not responsible for their tip. The bartenders here were all super awesome and attentive to my alcoholic needs. My boo got their pizza which was delicious and now im enamored with deep fried Oreos cause of this place. I had a Piaget and Voodo Doll which are a couple of their signature drinks. Super delicious and non-watered down. The place is dark and intimate the way bars should be with kind of a temple/speakeasy type of ambiance. Crowd was super chill and I’m definitely looking forward to coming back.

Local drinking spot, cabaret Thursdays and live bands! What’s not to like about this quirky, extra-hipster joint? Not to mention free-skee-ball. You should defintiely check this place out at least once.

Cool fun place. The crowd was chill and a lot of fun. A nice atmosphere, not much to look at outside, but the inside it’s nicely decorated. What holds me back from a better review is the bartender Clay. He has no personality, was extremely rude and should not be behind a bar where he needs to have contact with the customers. The other bartenders were great. Along with the above one of the security out front was rude and is probably related to Clay. Also if you try to reserve a table via telephone or email do not expect an answer or return email. If you go here your taking your chances on a bad experience.

Pretty cool divey bar in Downtown Los Angeles. I came here with some friends after some rough b-ball action. they have pretty good boiler maker deals. The Dickle is a nice discovery. haven’t heard of it before i got there. we had some appetizers and beers. nothing too out of the ordinary. the place is a nice place to relax and toss back a few to unwind. it wasn’t too crowded on a Wednesday after 10. I’ll def come back. i hear they have shows and bands that play on the weekends or other days, but i haven’t had the opportunity to see it.

Loved the ambiance but the rude, pompous bartenders ruined my evening. Loooong wait for drinks on a typically«dead» night. One of the female bartenders had a total attitude when asked for a Jack Daniels, which apparently they don’t carry(why the tude?) Anyway, when it came time to close my tab, the bill was separated by vodka and mixers. I ordered 6 shots of Chupacabras and had charges for Vodka @ $ 9×6 and«juice» @ $ 3 ea x 6??? Why not charge me for the 6 Chupacabra shots I ordered @ $ 12 ea. I had never seen this done before. So when I questioned the bartender(didn’t catch his name) about the charges, what should have been an easy explanation turned into a complete argument in front of other patrons. This was one of the worst displays of customer service I’ve ever seen. You’re a Bartender, dude! Maybe you should think about a different career path, like one where you don’t have to deal with PEOPLE.

The only reason this place doesn’t get five stars is because they really need some extra help at the bar for the purpose of customer service. The drinks here are GREAT. A Last Stand was my favorite, it was wonderfully spicy(read: spices, not«hot»), but even the Long Island that my friend gave me as a birthday drink was incredibly tasty. The atmosphere here is awesome. The live music is loud, but not so loud that you can’t hear the person next to you, which is ideal. We decided to come here for my birthday and I was definitely pleased with the decision. The photo booth is such a cool touch, too!

You go to a bar based on 3 things: the ambiance, the drinks and the service. Fortunately the service doesn’t matter for much if the drinks are that good The vibe and décor are so cool here. The live music makes it really fun and no one can escape the photo booth! The specialty drinks are fantastic and there’s some nice beers on tap. That is IF you ever get served. We went last night for my birthday and friends started ordering 2 at a time to avoid the impossible wait at the bar. This really ruined it for us. I really hope they were just short-staffed. All is forgiven because the One Eyed Gypsy is one cool kid. I’ll hang out with you again!

I was really surprised by the people who disliked this place. In my opinion, if you classify this as a dive bar then it’s a pretty damn snazzy one with a live band. As a regular bar, it really tries to have style and I think it succeeds. Now don’t get me wrong, I didn’t say it had a classy style, just style. It was a bit saturated when we walked it, but we were still able to find a seat. I def would return, but not a place I’m dying to come back to. For that, they get 3 stars. Plus I love their photobooth!!! Drunken pics, who doesn’t love those?

Unique chill and kitschy lounge. Dark bar with live music. Boilermaker is a steal.(Shot and a beer) Corn dogs and sweet potato fries were hot and crispy. Parking was easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy. I didn’t have any issues with the service. Bartender was friendly and expeditiously filled our drink orders. Will be back for some more great music and dranks.

Very easy to find metered parking here after hours, so yay to that! You can play skee-ball for free which was fun, just pull on the lever on the side to reset it. There’s a band that plays on stage, it’s kind of a divey bar, but the drinks are on the pricey side. You also fill up your own water by the front door, from a huge jug they have!

This has to be my least favorite bar in Los Angeles. The music is LOUD. So effing loud that you can scream in ear of the person next to you and they won’t hear a thing. The drinks aren’t strong enough nor are they very good in general. The only good thing about this place is the burlesque and not even that can make we want to come back.

I love this bar, One-Eyed Gypsy has«Justin should drink here often» written all over it. Crazy good drinks, chill bartenders, amazing décor, SKEEBALL, beer and shot deals, good people, live music… I mean really what else could you possibly ask for in a bar? If you can think of something that’s missing, please, fill me in. There is a feeling, I don’t know, kind of weird about the place. In a good«Haha that was totally weird!» kind of way, not weird in a creepy«Tell your mother to get the kids inside, that guy outside is totally weird» way. I’ve been told I’m weird quite often so perhaps that is where the appeal of One-Eyed Gypsy comes to me from. Just look at the photos, the décor is such an intriguing hodgepodge of dim and sultry that I just want to move all my shit in and start living here. It’s got some sort of «goth pirate ship at a carnival mid 16th century in the Ottoman Empire» vibe going on. I’m so into it. From PBR all the way up to fancy handcrafted cocktails, this place has you covered. I come here for booze and ambiance, but if you’re trying to dine as well then prepare to be pleasantly surprised with pizzas, snacks, and even motherfucking funnel cake. The only reason this isn’t my regular spot is the fact that I’m rarely downtown, if I lived in this hood you’d find me here on the regular. Trust me, it’s good shit.

It is a great venue for a fun Friday night! Friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks, interesting décor, great music(Hobo Jazz played when we were there), and an amazing crowd. All this creates a super appealing vibe and makes you come back again. Which I will gladly do.

I had my 30th birthday here and had a wonderful time! It had a lot of things I love: * A photobooth * Late Happy Hour(it ends at 9pm) * Free Skeeball * Yummy food(pizzas, fries, and fried Oreos were excellent!) * A great bar with friendly bartenders who serve an array of delicious cocktails * Plenty of space to hang out, dance, watch a band play, walk around, etc. * Ample parking * Eclectic, carnival-themed atmosphere I’d definitely come back for more good times!!!

Another great downtown LA gem, coincidentally owned by the owners of Villains. This is by far one of the most rad bars I have ever had the pleasure of stumbling upon. Who doesn’t like Happy Hour on the weekends, and a good one at that. Food specials and drinks specials to knock your socks off. The attributes that befuddled and elated my brain at the same time are, free skee ball, a photo booth, and a slew of old machines and games from the old carnival days. I can’t wait to go back and try the other drinks they offer, PS the sangria punch is quite tasty too.

Having been Downtown longer than most who are writing reviews, sometimes I like to offer some history of the places that are being born anew… a nod to the past while loving the future. O.E.G. is a stunning redo by Dana Hollister(Villians’ Tavern) of the joint formerly known as Bordello, and formerly formerly known as Little Pedro’s Blue Bongo(where the renowned Miss Mickey Champion used to grace the stage.) This place also has a long history of live music and stiff drinks(and, alas, mostly mediocre food.) That’s as far back as I go, but I bet this place had some interesting history before that, too. This Arts District venue has seen it all, but this grand dame just got its best facelift yet. The integrity(and charm) of the space remains pretty much intact, offering a variety of different areas(bar area, stage area, salon-style room off to the side.) The primary entrance is now the 1st Street entrance rather than the side entrance that was used by Bordello. Good change! This is not another classic cocktail bar, although it evokes a similar era. Bordello was sort of a gothic-burlesque-red-and-black-furnished-from-thrift-store-finds-kinda joint; the new theme is vintage carnival. In layman’s terms, the space cooled down to bluish hues, and gussied up with more elegant gold/brass fixtures, new booths and seating, a fortune teller machine, a juke box and skee ball machines… because who doesn’t love throwing balls when they’re drunk? Skeeball tix were supposed to be redeemable for food and beverages, but I didn’t test this yet, and another reviewer says no. FIRSTIMPRESSIONS: –Love the facelift. –I LOVE skeeball(hope it’s covered by their insurance policy… hope it lasts!) –Live entertainment + no cover = brilliant!(hope it lasts!) –Drinks were average strength, average price $ 8 and up(may be cheaper for happy hour) –Didn’t try the food yet. –Live music was awesome(Bastards of Belleville) and honestly not just ’cause my friend’s husband’s in the band.
