To be 100% HONEST – I HATEALLPIES!!! I don’t like any pies and I am extremely picky when it comes to dessert. Most of the time, I won’t like anything sweets related. However, the Mexican chocolate pie is delicious here! Its this thick chocolate with a delicious crust and doesn’t have super rich flavor. I would say its light flavor but thick in texture. Really good, must try! I always get this flavor whenever I go and I try to get the whole pie for special occasions. I’ve also tried the earl grey– and its pretty good. Better than the rest but definitely nowhere near the mexican chocolate! Inside, ambiance is SUPER hipster. Great for insta photos! Would I recommend this? Yessss!!! At least try the mexican chocolate!

I love this place(Pauses to finish my Cinnamon Hand Pie). I am the dessert King. It’s the most important meal of the day and I found just the place to fulfill that requirement. The Pie Hole. I’m here at least three times a week. The ambiance is hip and cool. Reminds me of a Downtown loft. The menu is handwritten which I’m fine with and the pies are on display waiting to meet your mouth. There are some cool creations like the Cereal Killer Cheese cake and Earl Grey Goodness. There’s also the seasonal offerings like the Brown Butter Strawberry and Rhubarb. There’s breakfast and lunch too which includes Egg/Chorizo Handpies and Shepherd Pies. There’s also a case full of cold press juices and soda pops. The staff is very friendly and the service is quick considering there’s usually a line. Parking is usually difficult for most. I always double park :). You should scuddle on down and treat yourself to bliss.

I had been waiting to try this place for soooo long! My sister and I went today and I must admit we were both disappointed. I really expected their pies to be something heavenly, but to be honest they weren’t much better than something you could buy anywhere else for cheaper. We wanted to sample a couple so we got the Mexican Chocolate, Apple, Peaches and Cream, Pecan, and a Ham and Cheese roll. My first and main complaint is the sweetness of some of the pies. The Peaches and Cream and the Mexican Chocolate were so sweet they made our teeth hurt! They were so intense that after two bites we felt the need to drink an entire glass of water! The pecan pie and the apple pie were decent. No complaints there except maybe on the price. They weren’t anything to write home about so I don’t feel like paying the price of a whole pie somewhere else for a slice here is justified. Although I might just take that back. I can imagine that their ingredients are good quality and you can tell, but for me the FLAVOR was just NOTTHERE. The ham and cheese roll was pretty good. My only complaint there is that the puff pastry(although delicious) was incredibly fragile and most of it ended up on our clothes, not in our mouths. I recognize like anything they could be having an off-day, but it just doesn’t seem like my cup of tea. I don’t think I’ll be returning.

#19 Let’s see what’s the hype is all about! Not much a pie girl so let’s see… Earl grey & salted. Caramel pecan was what my fellow Unilocalers recommenced. Final verdict? Not my cup of tea! waited 20mins for these two pieces of pie overly sweeten pies. Earl grey if definitely unique and inventive in terms of flavors but other that can I feels like I’m eating over charged Marie Calendars pies. Sorry but I prob won’t be coming back to Pie Hole.

I’ve been to this spot twice, once on the weekend at night and the other time during the week. On the weekend this place is packed to the brim with no where to sit. So I wouldn’t avoid peak business hours cause it’s a bit hectic. I highly recommend going during the week in the daytime so you actually sit down and enjoy your slice. My favorite pie is the cheesecake! It’s amazing it completely changed the cheesecake game for me. It was so rich and creamy without being too much. The crust was perfect just enough of a bite to contrast the smoothness of the cheesecake. The cereal pieces added a touch of a different sweetness so it wasn’t just a one note flavor. I can’t wait to come back and try their other pies.

Came for the Early Grey Pie, but the Salted Caramel Pecan was the winner because it was consistent with each bite. Not sure if it was the batch I got, but the Early Grey Pie was hella salty. You initially bite through the Early Grey mousse then comes the salty attack with the bottom chocolate layer. Honey Lavender Latte was bomb, but coupled with the salty Early Grey Pie was just too many flavors for one sitting. Recommend taking the latte for the road after devouring pie. You can definitely share a slice after eating at Wurstkuche. Overpriced af for dessert. Spent around $ 25 +tip on two slices of pie, one latte and one cappuccino.

Good is great service is blah. I went in on a Saturday morning with a few people and it was a first time any of us had ever been there. We had a few questions and since they place wasn’t very busy we didn’t think it was a big deal that we took out time looking at the menu and asking questions but the person behind the counter wasn’t very happy with that. She didn’t seem like she wanted to answer and questions and just wanted us to order and move on. Which is what most people did but since we had never been there we were curious as to what was in the hand pies and what was popular. We didn’t hold up the line while we looked and let other go in front of us since we needed a minute. Now lets get to the food yummy and filling. I got the breakfast hand pie and and a dirty chai. I really liked the pie part of the breakfast hand pie but the inside need a little something more to add some flavor but it was still very yummy. I would totally try this place again and since I know what they have will be one of he order and move on people.

This pie is to die for! Well actually their cheesecake is! I stumbled across this place after finding a picture of their Cereal Killer Cheesecake and I knew I’d be passing that location throughout my day and I made time to make sure to stop by. The location is in the back of a giant eating center and surrounded by many other great looking establishments that I’m very interested in trying next time I go back! The server working at the location was more than eager and friendly to help me and was very inviting. The location shares its seating with the other establishments so there’s many places to eat and it never feels cramped. NOWTOTHEFOOD! so the cheesecake I had was to die for. It was perfectly moist, and not to sweet since the cereal itself was already sweet. Covered in captain crunch pieces and not in a huge slice made the cheesecake a perfect light dessert. But I recommend grabbing a drink to have along with it so the cheesecake goes down much easier.

I wanted to try every pie they had in the store, that’s how delectable they all looked! Unfortunately, since I’m not made of money, I only ordered a slice of the cereal killer cheesecake. ANDITWASDERICIOUS! I love how they top it off with extra frosted flaked sprinkled on top. It’s like having extra sprinkles on your ice cream, but instead, it’s FROSTEDFLAKESWHICHAREEVENBETTER. Anyway, I’m not sure how much more you want me to describe the cheesecake… it tasted like a cereal cheesecake and it wasnt overly/artificially sweet. Let’s just say I was disappointed when I finished the entire thing. It made me want MORE. Why the 4 stars? 1. Parking sucks. I went at an off-time(Friday around 2pm) and it was still extremely hard to find parking. Not The Pie Hole’s fault but it just makes the trek there an inconvenience. 2. Price. I’m sure they have the prices they have in order to turn a profit but I wish it were cheaper so that I could justify buying two slices of pie instead of just one. Even a dollar or so cheaper would make a difference, I think.

This place is always hyped up and has long lines so I had to give it a try. I tried the Earl Grey, Salted Caramel Pecan, and their seasonal berry pie. To be honest, the only standout was the Earl Grey — light and fluffy with whipped cream and a hint of Earl Grey with pistachios on top. Something I haven’t tasted before and was very unique. Everything else seemed pretty ordinary to me. I also think the crust could be more buttery and flaky. If you go here, I’d try their more unique flavors to experience something out of the ordinary. As for the more standard flavors, I’ve had much better elsewhere.

After seeing so many of my friends sharing photos of their earl grey pies on social media, I decided it was finally time for me to try their seemingly most popular pie. Frankly, at nearly $ 7 for a tiny 3-inch slice of pie, I expected much more than an overly-sweetened, barely earl grey-flavored mousse topped with the same volume of whipped cream. Too sweet, and I like my sugar. The crust was good, however — not too flaky where it falls apart on you and not tough like a biscuit. There was a lengthy line to order and no available seating when I went over the weekend. Add in horrendous Arts District parking and that’s a guarantee for me to not have a reason to return.

I can’t believe I only gave this place four stars before. Their earl grey pie is pretty much the best pie you’ll ever eat in life. If you haven’t tried it, please do so immediately. I’ve tried all their other pies and to be honest, none of their other pies are that great. The Mexican chocolate is probably my second favorite, but even that comes nowhere near the earl grey. Both the maple custard and pecan are really sweet. The cereal killer looks delicious in its rainbow goodness and topped with Frosted Flakes but actually doesn’t taste that good. I also love the cold brew here. Pie Hole is small and usually crowded so it may be hard to grab a table. Located in Arts District so parking is horrendous.

Sorry, but its WTF Wed(3 Star review on Wed) again, or Shut Your Pie Hole!!! I finally dropped by the Pie Hole after realizing its right across from Wurstküche in the Arts District in DTLA. I stopped by here with Nadine from O’ahu when she was in So CA for Unilocal Spring Break. There were also 5 other Unilocalers with us. We ordered a slice of pecan and earl grey($ 6.75/each) a la mode($ 2 extra each). In addition, I had a café cubano($ 4.50). First of all, the pies were OK, but overpriced af. They had a decent crust, and a fair amount of fillings, but neither one was anything special compared to Marie Calendar’s or Polly’s. I know some of the proceeds go towards the local community. However, 1⁄6th of an OK pie shouldn’t cost as much as ½ a pie would cost at Marie Calendar’s or Polly’s. Additionally, the ice cream and café were pricey too: All 3 Stars. The ambiance consists of communal tables inside, and a few tables outside. The counter is kinda nice, and you can see the pies being displayed: 3 Stars. On the other hand, the service was very good. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the orders came out quickly: 4 Stars. I don’t think I’d stop by again to buy pie that is average & pricey. You’re better off going to Philippe’s(yes, they serve pie), if its before 10 pm. As for me, I’d rather hang out at Wurstkuche and drink some beer or eat some brats.

I was really excited to see The Pie Hole was nearby when we were staying in LA, so I dragged the boyfriend over because I do looooove pie. We got one sweet slice — the Earl Grey pie — and one savory slice — the Shepherd’s Pie — as well as a horchata latte. + The Earl Grey Pie custard was pretty tasty, very subtle Earl Grey /tea /bergamot flavor, which I liked a lot. It wasn’t too sweet, so it’s a good option if you are reading the other reviews and worrying about cavities! – I did take a bit of issue with how thick and dry the piecrust was for the Earl Grey Pie, as the custard wasn’t overly moist to compensate for that. For a pie place, I was really hoping they’d nail that. + The Shepherd’s Pie was really nice because it was a rather dreary and rainy day on our visit, and it really hit the spot. No real comments other than that, it was good stuff, really comforting and yummy. — The horchata latte was okay. I didn’t dislike it but I did have to put effort into finishing it… just wasn’t feeling it, didn’t get much horchata from it. Maybe I’ll have to try other pies, they definitely had a lot of flavors I was interested in trying but never got a chance to. Still, if you love pie, you gotta visit! * 3.5 stars

Everyone raves about this place so I decided to stop by and got a Whole Earl Grey Pie to share with my co-workers. Service and the people was a 5 out of 5. Line goes pretty fast. When we ate the pie, we all agreed on how terribly sweet it was. It’s like eating a slice of creamy sugar. There was nothing spectacular about the taste… Definitely not worth the price in my opinion. Getting a pie at Marie Calendars is practically almost the same thing. If anything I think I prefer the«real» taste of pie that other places serve. Personally I don’t think ill ever be coming back here just to eat a slice of pie.

Let’s all put some PIE in our HOLES! As I live and breathe. GLOR-RAY! As I get the holy ghost and shimmy up the church aisle. This place is DA(YESDA) BOMB-DIG-GADY! I first came here with some Unilocal buds for dinner. Yes dinner then we went out for burgers for dessert! NO I’m not crazy that was the order. Plus studies show eating dessert first will increase the number of years on your life. At any rate I had seen and heard about the atrocious lines so when we arrived I was STUNNED to not see the line wrapped down the street and around the corner. Plus it moved really fast. Seating is a premium so we had one person from our party grab a seat outdoors while two of us stood in line. Before I knew it I was through the door near the cash reg looking at the menu that is written on butcher paper. The cool thing here is the menu changes or is seasonal so there is always something fun flavor to be had and try. Seeing as I’m NOT a fan of LA I decided to stock up and try a few different slices of pie. I had read and heard that the Earl Grey was BOMB so I of course went with that. I also got the famous Mexican Chocolate pie, and a few others. I can’t really remember BECAUSE I got them to go and BEFORE I could even eat them I had water damage and… my life got flip turned upside down… Who can name the song a singer? Anywho my furniture had to be removed from the house and most of my thing packed up and I moved into a hotel for 2FRICKENMONTHS! My pie went bad in the frig left in the garage and became sort of a science experiment so it got tossed. $ 45 worth of PIEHOLESLICES toss into the round file. In any case I had only tired the Earl Grey which was SLAMMIN! Light and YUM, YUM, YUMMY! I almost licked the to-go container it came in. Several months later I am out with some Unilocalers trying to secure that elusive BFAST Badge and afterward a few of us decided to come here. I was SUPERDUPEREXCITED to come back! I ALREADYKNEW that I was going to try several pieces. Like clock work the season had went from early summer to now the beginning of fall and the menu had changed. Some things were the same others were different but I didn’t mind. I got the following: Earl Grey YETAGAIN — OMGSTILLDELISH Mahlo something — Different but good with pineapple. Be sure you like pineapple Pumpkin — Because it’s seasonal and it was good — Light then crust and buttery! Mexican Chocolate — I hate chocolate so I’m not a good judge but Legg’s LOVED it! Lavender — Light and SOGOOD! I have NEVAEVA been disappointed here. There is something for everyone. Plus if dessert pie is NOT your thing they have bfast pie and lunch/dinner pies… OMG so many to pick from. And, and they have some drinks both hot and cold like coffee, tea and juices. Or you can buy some coffee to go with a t-shirt and a hat. The morning is a GREAT time to go because there is plenty of parking even if you STILL have to pay for it. Your pretty much in and out. Woohoo

Ordered one savory and two sweet pie slices. The chicken and cornbread was like a mini pot pie with the flaky crust. I couldn’t taste the corn in the corn bread. It was just ok to me. The earl grey was very good. The earl grey tea was not too overwhelming. It has just the right amount of earl grey flavor. It’s a cream pie with a chocolate bottom that’s very light and not overly sweet. My only con is that the crust left my mouth feeling oily, like a film of oil costing my mouth. But I think that’s because my last bite was all crust since I finished the early grey cream. The last pie we got was the cereal killer cheesecake to see what the hype was about. I’m not a big fan of cheesecake so I thought it was ok. It had somewhat of a sour aftertaste to me. My bf tried it and he likes cheesecake, so he preferred this slice to the earl grey. Definitely worth a try. I liked the crust on this one better because it was sweeter. All 3 pies came out to $ 20 even. I definitely want to go back and try all the sweet pies. I’ll try another savory pie to see if they’re better.

It’s been years since I’ve heard of this place and I FINALLYGOTTOTRYIT. The excitement was so real, expectations were met, and my sweet tooth was satisfied. Friday night, there was a small line around 9−10pm but the line is always growing! As expected, this place is poppin’. There are a good number of tables but they were all occupied, keep your eye out for a table if you’re trying to dine in! There are also a good number of tables outside as well. We got the earl grey pie as recommended by almost EVERYONE, the apple crumble, Mexican chocolate(Togo), and a honey lavender latte with soy milk. Everything is SOGOOD. The Earl grey is amazing, not overly sweet, it’s a fluffy whipped slice of heaven. The apple crumble was good but too sweet for my taste, my boyfriend loved it though. The cashier will ask if you want it heated and yesss! Get it hot! We got the Mexican chocolate togo and I had to try a little bit and it is as rich as you would expect Mexican chocolate to be. Honey lavender latte sub soy is delicious as well. It has a subtle sweetness to it and pairs well with the pies. If you like a bigger contrast with your sweets, I’d suggest getting some tea or milk which they have as well! They have a great selection of pies both sweet and savory and so many drink options! The prices are high but it’s seriously some quality pies and worth the experience. If I lived nearby, I would probably be a regular and indulge on life one slice at a time! OHANDPIECRUSTS. So good.

This is not just your typical pie shop. They have the classics and then they have their own unique pie creations! You have your sweet pies. such as earl grey tea, maple custard, mom’s apple crumble, mexican chocolate & more. ** my fav: the mexican chocolate pie! You have your savory & breakfast savory pies. such as mac and cheese, shepherd’s pie, quiche & more. ** my fav: MAC&CHEESEPIE! They do change their menu seasonally. — It’s somewhat pricey for 1 slice of pie(mostly $ 6 a slice), but the quality and taste of these pies are amazing! — Some pies, like the mac & cheese pie, they can warm it up for you if you’d like. — Whole pies are available for pre-sale! — The line is sometimes long, but it goes by fast. — They serve cold brew & nitro coffee here Definitely The Pie Hole is one of those places where you have to come visit when you’re in Downtown LA!

Came here looking for dessert after eating across the street at Wurstkuche. The restaurant was super crowded with little seating. A table freed up and we ate outside. The wait staff was super nice and fast in clearing tables and being attentive. Ended up ordering the cereal killer cheesecake. The cheesecake and the crust on the cake was really good. I also liked the frosted flakes that they put on top, it gave the cake a nice crunch to it. However, I felt like the cereal inside the cake was way too soggy and we could have done without it. The cereal inside is just for aesthetic and those nice instagram pictures and I’m not sure how feel about that.
