They don’t even deserve the ONE star. Rude Staff, Worst BAREVER!!! A group of friends and I went to THESHORTSTOP this weekend and our experience was awful for the following reasons: 1.The lady at the door double charged us for the entrance and when we told her what she had done she didn’t return our money… all she stated was that she couldn’t return it and that was that. Mind you we had waited in line for over 45min. 2.We get to the bar and order Margaritas and the guy tells us he can’t make the Margaritas, to order something else because was just not going to make our drinks. 3.The«so called manager» tells us to move away from the bar area if we wanted to stay, otherwise he will quick us out. I had told him about the lady double charging us at the entrance and he could care less as he shrugged his shoulders. 4.On my way to the dancing floor one of the bouncers pushes me with his elbow(I wasn’t aware that I was playing tackle football all of a sudden). So I did what any other lady in their right mind would do. I SHOVED him back and told him to chill … and so did my husband and friends. They told him NOT to put his hands on any female. Oh and the next day I wake up with a bruise on my arm. That was it, we decided to just leave. We try to be chill and just have fun but the staff was not making it easy and just plain rude. I don’t recommend this bar to anyone, spend your money anywhere else just not here it’s just not worth it. Message to the OWNER: You need professional staff working in your establishment and not the Vulgar, threating and bad customer service employees you currently have.

DONOTGOHERE! I repeat, DONOTGOHERE. My friends & I came here last night 2÷21÷16 around 10pm. We were having a great time until a guy tried stealing my friends purse. I wandered the bar because I was gonna show security who it was, turns out the guy who tried stealing it worked at the bar. The bartender and him were in on it together because they were just talking the whole night. He tried to play it off like it wasn’t him but you never forget a thief. Plus the«boss» who was bartending got super offended when I tried asking questions. If you/he didn’t do it, why are you so upset? We are paying customers and I wanted to know what the heck was going on. Plus the boss got up in my face which a good boss would never do. Not to mention, she looked like a run down wannabe hipster who was making lousy drinks. Over all, do not waste your time here. It smells like wet mop, the people who work here think they’re cool as fuck but they live on scrummy tips hoping for a real job one day. I am never coming back here. This place is corrupted and I let all my friends know in the surrounding area to never come either and they sure as hell won’t support this shithole bar.

If I could give them less than one star tonight I would I am highly appalled and totally insulted at the way the bartender Dennis treated me on the night of February 22 I simply asked him for a double kettle one martini no vermouth with a twist of lemon and he served me a martini with 2olives!!! asked him please I do not want all those I want a vodka martini with a lemon only I saw him at second attempt pour all of juice of olives into the martini. I am mediately said to him I asked you for a straight up vodka martini no olives because, I’m allergic to green olives, and he told me you asked for too much you are not going to be served again!!! He had decided to himself that he wasn’t going to serve me. Having been a patron of the shortstop for over 20 years I find this highly highly insulting just because of supposedly y“New bartenders“who can’t even make a straight up vodka martini And then after apologizing to him he actually returned my six dollar tip I given him before Hafter talking to the owner of said shortstop foot seas, Lasita who would buy me a beer. I gave him a five dollar tip for the free beer that was offered to me by the owner I would totally respect the owner That bartender«Dennis» totally insulted me and spoke to other patrons about me to embarrass me and then talk to security to have me removed from the bar Before that I had apologized to the bartender… Not my problem to apologize to him because he can’t fucking make a straight up chilled vodka martini no vermouth with a twist of lemon what the fuck The embarrassment that I felt when the stupid bar security guy came up to me and asked me to leave at a place that I’ve been coming to for 20 some odd years will before they even have a job there is so insulting and so absurd and vulgar that it makes me want to say boo BOOOBOOHOOTHISISNOT S A PLACEFORLOCALS I say we boycott the shortstop up because the shortstop does not represent what we have all come to know and love throughout the years throughout at least 20 years of coming and going in there and to be insulted by some rude bartender because he’s in a bad mood and get me kicked out of a bar that is been home to me for over 20 years is so insulting and vulgar and repulsive and makes me want to puke

Came on a Friday night. Parking is a challenge. Drinks around 7 bucks. Wasn’t too crazy about the music. Maybe it was reggae night. There is a dance floor and a pool table(mind one pool table only) room. Lots of seating. No cover. Its a chill environment. It can be a hipster spot, not an extreme case of it though. Casual attire recommended. The crowd was diverse which is a plus. I would come back and stay longer than 30 mins… if the music was anything else orher than reggae.

This place is good for a dive near Dodger Stadium where you can get cheap well drinks and PBR tall cans. Usually has good tunes on and a good crowd. Parking can be tough. I had gone last year to try to watch the DODGERS on TV… no dice. the SHORTSTOP was not showing the dodger game because they where having an «art show»…the place was empty. We had asked them to put it on considering it is called the Short stop. and they didnt want to change it. So we left. I wont give up on this place thought. it’s still a good local dive. I hope that they show the dodger games this coming year especially if it is blocked out on TV. I recommend using cash here.

I liked the dive-bar feel, with multiple rooms and a pool table. The dance floor was incredible with a disco ball and lights, however the music was NOT good. They played 60s music and nobody was dancing. We approached the DJ who was not amenable to changing the tunes, so we just left. I even saw people trying to play the jukebox to play over the DJ. It’s disappointing because this place has so much potential, just needs better music. The drinks were typical for a bar, so nothing to complain about. But in the end, our group left early to find a different bar.

I have to be honest I like this place but it’s not for everyone. personally i never pay card, had a bad experience with that here maybe it was a one time thing but I always bring cash to bar’s after that. Like any bar your going to have to wait to get service if it’s packed. Great place I miss justice good guy

I love dancing but I’m rarely in the mood to hit a club, thankfully the short stop bar plays great music to dance to and has a spacious dance floor with disco lights and music videos projected on their walls. Follow their social medias to know what genre of music they play whichever night you decide to check this place out. Although I always have a great time at the SS I only gave 4 stars because the bar is extremely small in comparison to the size of the place. So if you don’t mind waiting around 10 – 15 minutes each time you want another drink I’d suggest pregaming lol. Another note, if you only drink 1 – 2 drinks like me, bring cash because there is a $ 15 minimum when using a card. Almost forgot, there is a pool table in another room, very cool. and a photo booth. Overall great place and friendly staff!

I’m only putting a star because I have to! Such RUDE service. My first time here and I’m not even intoxicated. First they make us wait forever for a drink and finally they realize we’ve been waiting and the guy bartender asks what we want, we tell him and my friend couldn’t make up her mind and he says«make up your mind! «and stops making the drinks. Like if we did anything? That’s your job! So rude and mean! We were being so polite and we got so dissed! I’ve never had service like this. I’m never coming here or recommending it to anyone.

The brunette bar tender is SORUDE and was drunk on my last visit. She took my money and started dancing around waving it in the air while grinding her ass on some dude, which was fine until she put it in the register and put my change in the tip jar. This exact thing had just happened to me recently so I was ready to call her out on it and when I did she said«That wasn’t yours honey, that doesn’t happen at this bar!» The funniest part was that she walked back over to me a few minutes later and asked«you gave me a twenty, right?» Not to mention the fact my friend ordered a beer twice and she came back a third time and looked at him like she had never seen him before… Somebody call Jon Taffer this place needs to be rescued!

I’ve only been here once, but I came during Mowtown on Mondays and it was so dope! Dance floor was pack until 12am. No cover charge for one of the best dance clubs in town. It’s a dive bar with so much soul and funk on a Monday night! You must check it out!

This is literally the worst bar I’ve ever been to. The staff is so rude, and Nico is the most unprofessional, awful person I’ve come across in my life. We threw a successful event here and were treated in the worst way. They yelled at our artists, locked their belongings in the back room and refused to let them back in, disrespected our friends and loved ones, and created a terrible atmosphere. Please don’t support this establishment.

The bar is a lot bigger than I thought from the pictures. Drinks are poorly made but does the trick since they’re cheap, watered down, yet strong with alcohol flavor. In other words, the cocktails are a dash of syrup and a cup of ice and cheap alcohol and maybe water. The music is not to my liking but the dance floor is worth taking a look at. If I were really drunk, It would be a fun place to dance at. The pool table is a fun addition as well as a separate room for the photobooth. I’m happy there were a lot of booth-style chairs for people to sit on but a lot of people looked bored.

The security on the weekend are extremely rude. They charge now a 5 $ cover when that was the reason for heading over to short stop in the first place. Might as well go to funky sole if your around on a Saturday. Still the same cover and you’re sure to have a good time. The bartender was sweet and made my drink very well. Too bad that everything else was terrible. I’ve been coming to shortstop for almost 4 years now and I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Came here with my roommates on a Tuesday night. It was pretty popping for a weekday. There weren’t more than twenty people but everyone was in a good mood, the music was loud, and there were more than a few girls twirling on the dance floor. Add in ample seating and a coda soda for $ 7, I’m definitely coming back.

I really wanted to like this place but the crooked bartender ruined it for me. Ok guys, have you ever heard of gratuity fraud?! It happens in bars/restaurants that accept credit card transactions. So at the end of the night when they enter in their tips, they add more money than what you actually tipped. Most cases, they’ll add an extra $ 1 or $ 2 thinking you won’t notice or because it’s a small amount that you’d forget the hassle. I, however have worked in a bar/club industry and know that these people not only do it to one person they do it quite frequently. Also, I wouldn’t let a ratchet bartender chick pull a fast one on me. She’s pathetic. Why gotta steal a dollar?! That desperate for cash or what? Her name is Ms. C on the receipt. She’s tall and a brunette. I’ve called the bar, left a message and sent an email with my original receipt and bank statement of the fraudulent charge. Yet, no response. I gave them a chance to make things right but they refuse to contact me. Wow. This place is a hot mess.

While I’m pretty sure this place gets a heavy sports crowd during Dodgers season, it’s also a great venue for a dance night. During my last trip to LA, my girlfriend and I stopped by here for a Blur Vs Oasis night(or really, a britpop night.) When we got inside, I was impressed with the layout. You’ll see the bar right away in one room, with a dance floor to the left in another. Then behind the bar is another large room with a billiard table and plenty of seating. The division of three rooms really helps to make it not feel too crowded. And, they also have a photobooth in a small room near the bathrooms! As for the dance night itself, the djs played an excellent set, which had the classics you expected but also some songs that most djs fail to play. They also put care into the song transitions, which sadly is not usually the case at many britpop or indie nights. Hope I get to check out another night here next I’m in the area.

I came here for my 21st birthday and honestly it was a great experience! I have gone non stop since then! The drinks are wayyy less pricer than other places. The vibe is great and the DJ varies so that keeps the place non boring! Its small, the area isn’t horrible so thats good! I always have a blast here so 4 stars for you Short Stop! The only small problem are the girl restrooms lol the door gap is way to separate so you can’t have privacy. Maybe if you guys can invest some cash mulla in the restrooms that would make this place perfect! Keep up the good work guys!

Had no idea this place had a dance floor!!! We need more bars with a dance floor where you can dance the night away in your shorts, t shirt, and flats! Anyway, the place has four separate rooms: the bar room, the dance floor room, the pool room, and the tiny photo booth room. The music ranged from top 40s, hip hop, old school, and latin dance. The DJ was good at getting the crowd going and chanted«dodgers, dodgers!» which got everyone even more excited. If you haven’t guessed already, this is the place to go before heading to a game and returning from the game. I wouldnt say this place is hipster because i felt like you could find every type of angeleno there. I dug the diversity. And the photobooth was an awesome find as well! But the bar kind of bored me and the overall look of the place was pretty drab. The mixed drinks were extremely watered down and they only offered two signature cocktails. Idno maybe im a sucker for cocktail lists. Anyway, it is a cool place to stop by if you are feeling lazy and have nothing else to do. BUT make sure to go before 11pm. After that, they charge $ 5 to get in. Not worth $ 5. PS Kuddos for the bussers here! they kept the place free of empty cups/cans like a hawk

Short Stop, you used to be cool. u and your grungy hipster/old school hip hop and funk scene when you had no cover. Now you think you’re too cool for school and charge $ 5 to get in. Very divey and hipster places were cool because they were cheap and fun. If divey places charge cover, what is the world coming to??? It’s a small place that gets way too overcrowded now. I’m sad to say that this place isn’t the same anymore. The Short Stop has an accessible dance scene that caters to hipsters and locals. The cheap lights remind me of a disco ball your parents had in the house on karaōke night. It was charming at the time, but it does not warrant a cover charge. The drinks are still cheap as you can get PBR for $ 4. That will never change(hopefully). At least the hot dog lady is still down the corner selling dirty dogs that might give you the runs…

Short Stop, I liked you and your grungy hipster dance scene when you had no cover. Now you think you’re too cool for school and charge $ 5 to get in. Well, I got a newsflash for you, Walter Cronkite… you aren’t. The Short Stop has an accessible dance scene that caters to hipsters and locals. You could come here and have a fun night with your friends as I once did. On the other hand, it’s not an especially interesting place. And sadly, the décor and atmosphere do not lend themselves to charging a cover at the door. The Short Stop would have been worthy of attention had it continued its no cover policy. After all, it was something that stood out about this place – something that made the experience convenient and less of hassle. You could pop in, grease up the dance gears with some drinks and shake that booty for a few minutes and then move on. Now it’s just another crummy bar where you spend $ 5 to get in and regret it later – probably when you decide to leave thirty minutes later. You leave with a sting of guilt because you deigned to gift this place an entrance fee for too little in return. What’s wrong with the Short Stop? It’s drab and unremarkable. The 70’s wood paneling does little else but make you think someone was lazy or cheap in updating décor for this place. Nothing about the establishment, its offerings, its energy, or its clientele stand out. Sorry, throwing in a DJ and some cheap lights won’t save it. It works when you don’t pay at the door, but now that you do, you might as well take your night elsewhere.

This is our pre-party spot before games. I love coming in here and sharing some beers with the other cheapskates. $ 15 for parking at the stadium? Screw you. We park on the street. $ 15 for a beer? Screw you again. We’re downing $ 4 PBRs. $ 10 for nasty stadium food? Screw you three times. We’re getting bomb ass tamales from the Tamale Guy. Anyway, I’ve never been here at times other than before Dodger games, but I can imagine it’s a pretty chill dive bar. Although, maybe on weekends it’s loud as hell because they DO have a giant ass dance floor and DJ booth. You might wanna poke your head in before you commit, at least if you’re an old man like me and not into the loud music thing anymore.

My friend asked me «Hey you wanna go out to a bar in Echo Park?» And I’m like«Yeah that’s something different» then think to myself. Uh oh what did I just get myself into. Let’s be honest. When you think Echo Park you think hipsters and gangs. I’m sorry if you’re reading this and live in Echo Park, it’s just what most other people think outside of Echo Park. So that was my preconception before going there. We got there around 10 and there was no line and the bar was spacious and not filled up at all. The first room has the bar, the room to your right has the pool table and a bench lining the whole room, and the room to your left is the dance floor with the DJ in the corner and some bench space against 2 walls. It eventually started filling up and eventually it was max capacity and that’s when it was a struggle walking from one room to the next. I had so much fun here. The vibe is great. Everyone is there to dance and have fun. It’s not pretentious and haughty. You definitely don’t need to dress to impress. There were interesting outfits from a girl wearing a red jumpsuit romper(my friend thought it was pajamas) and another girl wearing boyfriend cuffed jeans and a small crop top t shirt(my friend thought she’d bought those clothes when she was 12). All jokes aside, the people are eclectic and nice. You know how it gets hot on a dance floor with all those people and all that movement? I saw a guy on the dance floor dancing, with a hand fan. One of those fans that your grandma uses in the summer when it’s hot. So hilarious. Later on in the night a girl had the hand fan prop on the dance floor. It goes to show how people here honestly don’t care about how they look or seem to other people. I would have never seen that at the other bars I usually frequent. Music was surprisingly good(on a Friday night). It was throwback and new hip hop/trap. I swear I remember hearing some old school 2pac, Outkast, oh and Ms. New Booty. But then he played some new stuff like a song from Kendrick’s super new album and some newish Drake, Migos, Kanye, Dillon Francis. There’s an outdoor patio from the bar room where you can smoke and get some air without leaving the bar. Oh, and drinks aren’t extremely expensive like in other bars/clubs. Pacifico was $ 6. Don’t quote me on that, I was drunk. They had White Nite and some other interesting beers like peanut butter beer. We left around 1 to go to some other bars and there was a line of a few people outside waiting to get into here.
