A really, really pleasant surprise. Turns out there’s a bit of community and color in the San Fernando Valley after all. This monthly block party draws out the creatives that you didn’t know were next door. They play music of all styles from sidewalk stages and hidden parking lots, create gorgeous graffiti installations before your eyes, serve you snacks from food trucks, and show off unique pieces and products. Kids color, groups walk, talk and admire, and those who are really feeling the music dance or hula hoop along. It’s as unexpected as it is necessary– a dose of artsy, grassroots community amid the sprawling sleepy burbs.
