This place is closed! No surprise though, the fish never tasted quite right and every time I went there the place was a ghost town. Looks like something new is moving in though…

Tomo Sushi is amazing! While waiting on our food, we received complimentary rolls! Not only were the rolls on the house, they were amazing quality! I highly recommend this place!

Was here for dinner last friday night. The service from the young waitress working that night was super friendly and attentive. Minus 1-star because the food was not really that great and not good quality.

Well, I was very surprised this restaurant got such high reviews. The staff was ice cold, I’m sorry, if you don’t like your job you need to find something else to do. Serving others better be what you like to do, it’s not for every one. The décor was nice, simple very clean. We tried to not speak loudly because it is very small and it feels like it echoes. There rolls were super small, my husband and I have never eaten such small rolls in our life. It’s pricey for what you get. The spider roll was over fried and did not taste good. My baked crab, was imitation crab. I was truly disappointed. Sorry guys, I will never be coming in to your restaurant again. :(

Great Service! Fun time! Good sushi! Personally, I think I get more bang for my buck when I don’t do AYCE, because AYCE has a limited menu. I love their Superman Burrito and everything is affordable, even outside of AYCE and I eat a LOT of sushi. Absolutely the best place to go for birthdays or celebrations! The staff is incredibly friendly and works to ensure that you and your party have a the best time possible.

A few months back, I did AYCE here. You can only do AYCE if you ask for their menu though. This place does really well on nigiri. They are the type of place that gives you more fish than rice, which is great. You are getting your moneys worth. Their rolls are good too, but I recommend coming for their nigiri instead. I also recommend getting their beers. They have some imports from Japan that are not normally present in restaurants/bars.

Although not advertised in the menu, ask for the AYCE menu and the lady will bring you a paper list of nigiri/roll available for all-you-can-eat. It’s about $ 25.00 and with tax you’ll be paying about $ 28 excluding tip. It’s a decent quality considering its AYCE. However, they’ll try to fill you up fast to limit you from ordering more. Don’t be flattered when they bring out a dish of avocado ball/rolls saying it’s on the house. This is one of their ways to get you full on something else besides sushi. One thing that I found hilarious was that for the second round of order, it was clear that more rice was added in for our nigiri compared to the first order. It wasn’t even subtle. You could tell that they were indirectly telling us, «Don’t order more.» Although I was full, I wanted to order more just to show them that I wasn’t backing down. Other than that, it was a decent AYCE experience. Better than a lot of the AYCE sushi places I’ve had in Chicago. Would I come back here? Probably not.

This place is my absolute favorite! My friends and I go for the AYCE because it’s reasonably priced, the food is incredible, but what really makes it my favorite is the service. It’s a smaller setting inside, and we’re always waited on by an older woman and the same guy is making sushi behind the bar. My second time coming in, he remembered me and he always makes me his special dish. Super friendly service, and like the other reviews said, they HOOKITUP! Every time I’ve been in they always give me extra food. Great food, great service, good times.

Reading the rest of these reviews has got me really confused because I was just here about two weeks ago and in fact did order AYCE! It was on a Monday night, so I’m guessing it just depends on what day you come in? It doesn’t hurt to call in and ask ahead of time whether or not they are serving AYCE, but when I went, they were not busy at all and there was only one other party dining in, so maybe that could be the case. Nonetheless, this is a really good AYCE joint for the price point and location! They have a wide selection of special rolls, but I feel like people go to AYCE for Nigiri. The Nigiri here is great because of how big the cut of fish is compared to the amount of rice you get with it, which is minimal. Not to mention, the fish is excellent quality and extremely fresh. Forsure go-to’s for Nigiri are the salmon, tuna, yellowtail and albacore! The sushi chefs are pretty quick between rounds, and since this place is never super busy or packed, you’ll always get really good customer service. The owner of the restaurant is so friendly and always takes time to talk to our table whenever we come in. This most recent time, we had ordered soju and she took the time out to fill our glasses with lemon juice and she also put cucumbers in our soju bottle to make it taste better! She is extremely hospitable to all her patrons, so this is a solid AYCE spot to be a regular at.

Wow. I love it here! The woman who runs the place is so sweet, she suggested a larger beer because it has a cheaper price and more beer. She also brought us an extra dish on the house.

If you’re looking for a good AYCE spot, I’d recommend Tomo! For $ 25, you can indulge in as much sushi as you want. Came here on a Saturday night and it wasn’t as crowded as I expected it to be. There is plenty of tables so there’s no need for a reservation. The restaurant seems to be family-owned and the staff is very friendly. The AYCE part isn’t on the menu, you have to ask. For each round of AYCE, you fill out a sheet of what you want. Every time you finish a round, they give you another sheet so don’t panic when you only see one column to mark your choices. I enjoyed pretty much everything nigiri; I stayed away from the rolls because I didn’t want the rice to fill me up. On the plus side, for all of the nigiri, the sushi to rice ratio was fantastic. Normally, at AYCE places, there is a lot of rice underneath the fish to fill you up. At Tomo, there is minimal rice. The rice doesn’t really stay in tact but I’m just happy they didn’t give us a lot! The fish tasted fresh and delicious. We definitely consumed quality fish. A few things I didn’t like about the place… The miso soup was a tad salty. I know I didn’t go for the miso soup but I like to drink some nice miso with my sushi… Too salty! Also, the AYCE sushi menu lacks uni!!! I’ve been to AYCE sushi places that allow 1 order of uni per person but this place didn’t even allow us to order any! Smh… Anyhow, this place is solid if you’re in the mood for AYCE sushi for a decent price. I hear Midori sushi, which is nearby, also offers AYCE but they give heaps of rice so I’m glad I checked out Tomo. Luckily, the AYCE sushi menu still offers the usual types of fish the majority of people enjoy(Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, etc…)

First of all, I’m most satisfied for the service. For a party of 13, our waitress was very attentive and made sure everything was on point(water refills, clearing the table/plates, answering any questions, etc.) My party and I visited Tomo Sushi on a Wednesday night around 8pm, which was spacious at the time. The atmosphere is simple and welcoming. There’s also indoor and outdoor seating. In terms of parking, you can do street parking or the parking structure next to the sushi place. It’s $ 15 max, but I guess it becomes free at one point once it’s really late. Be wary as the parking structure isn’t completely lit late at night. I was also told they have their own lot so keep an eye out for that! In terms of ordering food, yes there is an AYCE option or you can choose to have an individual meal. The order paper you get for AYCE has only one column, but don’t worry that doesn’t mean there’s only one round, you can always ask for another paper for a second round. I personally like the nigiri options and so I was really satisfied with the salmon and yellowtail. The dragon roll, in n out roll, double double, and aloha roll were a few favorites from my party. I would recommend these! Just remember to leave no left overs! You will get charged. If you can try and order their desserts! They have an interesting set of presentable choices. What I loved the most about this sushi place is that the chef presented us with two complimentary orders for the whole party. I can’t recall the names of both, but I hope these pictures will suffice. I was most impressed with the baked one that was lit on fire — melts right in the mouth. For a big party, I’m very impressed by how organized and fast our waitress handled our separated our bills. And so with the satisfaction of my party’s experience, we all decided to tip very handsomely. I’m not familiar with many AYCE sushi places near the LA area, but I’m glad I discovered this place. Overall, this was my first experience with Tomo Sushi and its def. a place I’d recommend to others. The service was excellent and the quality as well as the variety of the sushi rolls are on par if not better than other places I’ve been to.

We came here friday night after we got a friends recommendation. Expecting there to be a huge line we went super early. Senior Citizen dining time almost. We ordered the AYCE Sushi for $ 25. Most AYCE spots have a very limited menu but Tomo Sushi’s AYCE menu was practically the entire menu. We took the sheet of paper and started marking our selections like madmen. We had almost one of everything and everything was decent to good. I dont think there was anything bad. I mean I am not going to say that this was the best sushi I have ever had but for the price this was pretty good. The fish to rice ratio was ridiculous. It was so drastic where my husband actually asked«Where’s the rice?» They really give you a lot of sushi. The service was fast, food was good, portions were great, and free parking in the back. If you live or are near the area should try it out. I wish they were a little closer so I could come more often.

Alright. They were open this time I can finally review them! So my review is reviewing their all you can eat menu. Very very limited. That is what their AYCE menu is described in 3 words. However if you love nigiri like me, you would absolutely love this place! Their fish is really good. Their fish to rice portion was perfect. More fish than rice, and that is how it should be. Yeah they were a bit concern with how much we ordered, but they should be! We ordered a lot! I was really craving sushi and I had promised to come back to this place after I initially reviewed it with 1 star because they were not open when they were listed as opened. Their salmon nigiri and their albacore nigiri was amazing. I really enjoyed both. some of the pieces had way more fat than other places but I think they try to use the entirety of the fish out of cost efficiency purpose. Which is understandable and I do not mind. Their albacore was so amazing. It literally melted in my mouth as I ate it. Their sushi rolls were pretty horrible. I would never come here if I wanted sushi rolls, which I never crave anyways! I liked literally none of their rolls. We also came here to celebrate my friend’s birthday and near the end of the meal the waitress came and asked us what the birthday girl name was. 2 minutes later the lights went off, and lo and behold a birthday cucumber with sushi plate came out! Lights and all. It was amazing and awesome. Their service kind of sucked because there was only one waitress serving the entire store. I chose to overlook that and we gave them a 20% tip. With a party of 6 we ended up paying about $ 200.00 I paid for the meal as a treat to my friends and they covered the 20% tip. I would love to come back here again. I love nigiri and their nigiri is absolutely amazing.

All-You-Can-Eat Sushi for $ 25. That’s what Tomo Sushi advertised and that’s what it was … cheap AYCE feast of cheap sushi, cheap sashimi, and cheap rolls. The food didn’t stand out in any way. I’ve had better sushi(of course) and much, much worse sushi … so, getting All I Can Eat(a lot) of cheap and ok sushi was totally a-ok. About the only thing that stood out was the fantastic and friendly service from the Korean American couple at the Sushi Bar. Kamsahamnida! * Salmon(Sake) Sushi — Big slices with little flavor * Yellowtail(Hamachi) Sushi — Light color and taste * Eel(Unagi) Sushi — Slightly overcooked * B.L.S.R.(Crab, Avocado, & Baked Lobster) Roll — Warm & Creamy * Washington Roll — Salmon & Salmon * Rainbow Roll — Couldn’t really taste the rainbow … meh * Scallop Tempura Roll(Crab, Avocado, Cucumber, and Scallop Tempura) * Avocado Crab Ball — Freebie ball of Imitation Crab wrapped with Avocado Don’t expect too much from Tomo. It is what it is … cheap sushi to stuff yourself silly for just $ 25. いただきます! Itadakimasu!

So my friends and I decided to try a new place for AYCE sushi. Normally, Midori is our go-to place but I hate how their rolls are stuffed with rice. We also came here for our friend’s 21st birthday. Yay! They take reservations. Ours was at 7pm for 7 people, but when I got here the place wasn’t packed at all for a Thursday night. I didn’t know if that was a bad sign. Actually I was glad it wasn’t. Definitely a gem of a find. Thank you, my fellow Unilocalers! The AYCE sushi is $ 24.95. They don’t have an abundance of roll choices like Midori but seriously… they have enough choices to be stuffed to the brim. We loved the Vegas roll, Hawaiian roll(or is it aloha), and the(lobster) popcorn roll. There are some specialty rolls that I wanted to try that are not part of the AYCE menu but I will save those for another day. The chef was awesome! He dimmed the lights and put on some flashy lights and had the restaurant sing happy birthday to my friend. He made her an avocado crab ball with a cucumber boat with candles. That was so sweet! We didn’t ask them to but they did it. Love that! It was a great touch. Service was awesome. The young lady serving us was attentive and nice. They have parking in the back so you gotta walk through a hallway to get into the restaurant. Restrooms are located outside the restaurant so you have to ask for the key and it’s a single restroom. I would love to go back but maybe not for AYCE. My eyes are bigger than my stomach. LOL But there are plenty of things to come back and try. Let’s go! :)
