Ok. These kinds of things are so totally matter of what you like. Very subjective. It was fun to visit, and interesting to see, and obviously if you like this kind of «monster toy art» this is a candy store. Not totally my cup of tea, but I am glad I saw it.

Toy Art Gallery, or TAG, is essentially the mecca for art-toy collectors and artists alike. I made my pilgrimage in January of 2015. TAG is a highly-credible establishment that has earned the respect of collectors and artists around the world. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, everyone that works there is very nice and knowledgeable. I can’t say enough positive things about TAG. I wish I could get out there more often.

One of my favorite places to go in LA, fun art gallery/toy shop not to be missed! The staff are the best, love this place!

I’m a collector of awesome, artful figurines from brands like KidRobot, Funko, and Bearbrick. Toy Art Gallery has these brands and more than I could have dreamed! The front third of the store is devoted to the gallery, and the rest of the store is filled with awesome merchandise. I love going to Toy Art Gallery to see their new arrivals and other cool items. They have it all, and it’s so awesome. Definitely stop in if you’re in the area. You won’t regret it!

I love the concept of the gallery(toy-themed art, duh), but the execution didn’t impress me. There wasn’t much art in the space, and what was there didn’t seem particularly original. The store section was large, but at small galleries, I like the store to really really have things I can’t find anywhere except at this special little gallery, but I didn’t get that feeling. All the little blind boxes of toys are cool, but eh. Some ok shirts, etc. Maybe I visited during a sub-par show for the gallery, maybe it was something else, but I left disappointed.

If you like quirky vinyl art toys, then this is probably the best shop in town though I haven’t seen the new Munky King in Culver City. If you don’t know what an art toy is, then pop into this fever dream of a store! You will see imagination running wild on every shelf. I stop in every time I pass by just because there is always something fascinating or bizarre to see.

TAG does it right and they work hard to do. Less trendy the Kidrobot. More cool then MonkeyKing. TAG brings in artists from around the world who specialize in artistic vinyl adult(not sex) toys. There is something here that brings in a bunch of 30 – 50 year old x punks and metal heads to rejoice in their non-hardcore nerdisms. Visit. Be awed at whatever current show they have on display. Buy your first inexpensive piece of vinyl and get hooked or come back for your twentieth time and get that rare piece you’ve been fantasizing about for the last months. At TAG it’s all good.

They do art shows here, how cool is that! So, if you don’t know about this place its got all the underground artist toys you love so much. I liked this place because you walk in and its just got beautiful art all around. If you’re into the whole dunny or art toys of artist that were in my opinion the best of the Juxtapoz art mag generation, this is the place. The service is really cool too, they were willing to go out of their way to make sure you were happy with your purchase

5 Stars because I spent time looking at every single toy and piece of art. The items are unique and you won’t find them in other stores. Random designs, horror like creatures, oddities, large sculpture pieces, and skeletal almost grotesque Hello Kitties. That’s a Hello Kitty I can tolerate. Something not so innocent and pink. There were some cute object to be found in here too. There are a lot of variety of vinyl toys. They have these cute little creatures of blank slate that you can decorate with paint/pens any way you want for $ 12 – 15. Great gift for a kid! Makes me wish it was someones birthday or nearer to Christmas. I can’t be storing things for over 6 months. Although the art was interesting and enjoyable to view I don’t think I’ll be needing a bronze brain with frog legs for $ 6000. 0_o Parking: Can be a little tough. Street. Or nearby side lots but you’ll have to search for them. There was one a couple of blocks away across street for $ 3. Tip: Yellow loading zones in L.A. are open to park in for unlimited time on Sundays.(Don’t do it in Pasadena though… got a $ 40 ticket trying that there… different rules apply). We lucked out and found one right by the Melrose Trading Post Flea Market. Score!

TAG is AWESOME! Clean, bright and brimming with amazing designer toys — many of which you will find at no other store in LA, or in fact in very few stores across the world. They also have fine art displayed nicely and regularly have cutting edge exhibitions by the toy glitterati like Paul Kaiju, MVH, Elegab, and T9G to name but a few. At the busier gallery shows they even have personal shoppers who help you get what you want — I was lucky enough to be shown around by a cool and sexy English guy with a beard, and my friend got a dude called Todd who rocked his world. But dont think this is for art snobs. It isnt! The staff are all great: Aaron smiles on the inside — but is super nice and has great hair. Connell is the oldest swinger in town but knows his toy shizzle and tattoos. Yoshi has the best shoes and speaks Japanese. Fino has the best hair. and Gino owns the best toy store. Awesome!

While some of my favorite urban vinyl toy and gallery shops are closing, Toy Art Gallery pops up to fill the void. Also found some rare finds that I can’t find any where, still at the retail price and not ridiculously marked up. This is definitely a place to remember when stomping in Melrose proper.

A very cool store indeed! Lots of rare limited edition art toys. They also have cool gallery shows. So many bright and shiny candy like toys and art that will leave me broke. A fun place to hang out and look or buy. I meet Connell one of the staff there and he was super knowledgeable about everything in the store.

Went here during the My Little Pony show, among all the chaos and crowds, I was still able to make my purchase and the customer service was wonderful. Very sweet peeps work there. High end toys/models ARt, lots of art. ARTALLOVER! It’s like sex with my eyes! clean store they play cool music, when I went in, it was The Smiths. Got happy. I highly recommend this place for events, these people did a great job hosting. Looking for a cool toy/scale model. check this out this is more for art nerds and older kids. They do some have child play stuff, but not a lot of it. But still, I love coming in here, since I go to Melrose a lot. CHECKIT!

I popped in here for the first time for the My Little Pony Project party a few weeks ago, and liked the layout and figure collections they had available. The gallery space is definitely worth checking out, so if you’re on Melrose, don’t forget to stop in and have a look!

***Toy Art Gallery features items that are not really my thing(Kid Robot-like stuff), but it was an interesting little shop and I really liked the Fat Tony(a Tony the Tiger who has been on a Frosted Flakes diet for way too long), which is featured in one of their photos on Unilocal*** This toy shop features upscale models and figurines(like Kid Robot). The toys vary from relatively inexpensive and massively produced packaged items(like Simpsons and Futurama figurines) to much more creative and limited produced items behind glass(some very expensive and some not as expensive as you may think). The store is an interesting spot to take a little stroll. The items are eye catching enough; however, if you are not a fan of this stuff(they are okay to me though I’m not a collector), you may find the store gets a little monotonous. Still, one item stood out. There was a fat Tony the Tiger that was pretty funny and creative. While many of the toys were very colorfully designed, they didn’t spark my interest because they were all about the nice design and meticulous detail(strong points but not something I’m going to remember). The fat Tony the Tiger was different. Nostalgic and modern as well as funny and clever, it was something that I may always think of when I stumble upon a box of Frosted Flakes. The staff was pleasant. Toy Art Gallery is a worthwhile little time killer and if you find yourself on this busy part of Melrose(and are a fan of this stuff), you should definitely give it a try. Parking is available on the street by meter; Toy Art Gallery is located near a lot of other Melrose shops/boutiques so parking can be hard to find at peak times.

This place is pretty cool. If your an avid toy collector of different artists or anything KidRobot you got to check out this place. Every month they feature an artist or toyline in their gallery. If you got time ask to check out there warehouse. The owner Gino has a vast collection! They also sell here too… I picked up 2 Celsius vinyl figures for $ 75 each. This place is worth driving up to from San Diego :)

This is definitely worth taking a gander through. It’s in a bit of a weird location next to a theater, but you’ll see some pretty cool custom toys. They were practically sold out when I went. :(
