So glad I found Teresa, she has totally changed my hair and my life. For 6 years I was too scared to let anyone in LA to give me anything more than a trim, luckily I found Teresa. I was looking to take my virgin black hair and go much lighter with highlights. I did a lot of research, and after comparing skill and pricing I booked a time at Fig with her (when she was still there). I was really nervous going into the appointment just because of the sheer amount of change i’d be doing to my hair but she made me feel super comfortable because 1. you can tell she’s a meticulous expert and 2. she’s a crack up and fun to spend time in the chair with. I get nothing but great complements on my hair after I convince them that it’s not my natural coloring. Anyhow judge by the pictures attached, Teresa Kim (TYK Style) gets a 5 star rating from me every time and I’ll never trust anyone else with my hair!

I started going to Teresa as a walk-​in with a coupon when she was at the Fig on Third. I live nearby and needed a cut bad. To be honest, I didn’t expect much.
I have a ton of coarse, thick and, at times, awful hair, which is very difficult and overwhelming for most hair dressers. I usually end-​up hating my hair after I get it done.
Not so with Teresa! From the very start she listened to me. SHOCKER!!! She also asked me about my taste in different things, my schedule, how I usually take care of my hair and how much time I spend on it each day. She put it all together and nailed it! She’s fun, friendly and honest. She will tell you straight out if a hair style you want will work with your hair, face, etc. No empty promises, hence no disappointments.
When she was still at the Fig, I had a really last minute event to go and I couldn’t get in to see her, so I had to go to my old hairdresser. They ruined my hair. I had to wait months before I could grow it out enough to face Teresa (it was still jacked-​up too). She took one look at it and fixed it. She didn’t even give me any grief for letting someone else cut my hair!!! I’ll never make that mistake again. Emergency or not, if I can’t get Teresa, my hair’s not getting done.
I suggest that anyone who is looking for a new hairdresser give her a try, especially if you have hair like mine. Trust me, you won’t be sorry! This lady is amazing.
BTW — I love the new digs at the Phenix. I can always get a hold of her and schedule an appointment.

Teresa is an actual magician. I went to her with a dulled out/​monotoned hombre and she totally transformed my hair. It has shape, dimension, shine. I basically love it. and people have not stopped commenting!
She knows what she is talking about and I can’t wait to see what other magic we do together in the future!

Teresa from Fig on Third has moved out to set up her own studio!
She’s the only person I can fully trust with coloring my hair for so many reasons:
–Doesn’t damage your hair and will always opt for the most optimal, yet hair-​safe/​natural technique
–Will walk you through and explain her process, while being realistic about how do-​able it is based on your current hair
–Extremely reasonable pricing compared to other salons, ESPECIALLY for the quality service she delivers!
Also helps that she’s sweet and funny :)
The salon itself is small and intimate, making you immediately feel like you are getting the utmost personal treatment. Teresa gives the place her personal touch so the look and feel of the studio design is great!
Good music, great vibes! Schedule an appointment with her as she’s in demand but great in communicating with clients!
Side note:
There’s a parking lot you can use which is a huge plus!

HAIR GODDESS!!! Teresa is amazing! I had to break up with my hair stylist of 2 years because she just wasn’t getting what I wanted right anymore and would have to go back 3 times to still not get what I was paying for but when Teresa got a hold of these locks she knew exactly what to do! She listens and gives suggestions (which I think is important in a good stylist) and the results were exactly what I wanted and needed! I will definitely be going back to Teresa!

Teresa’s the BEST! I’ve been going to her for about two years and since then I’ve had the best version of my hair ever!
I first came to her with a major hair color meltdown; I had seen two different colorist who had turned my hair to a horrendous red/​brown that didn’t fit my skin tone in the slightest. I sat down in Teresa’s chair and she instantly put me at ease. She showed me examples of the color she had in mind and explained the process she was going to use to arrive at the correct color, since it was going to take a couple processes to get there. When it was all said and done I had the exact color I’d been after all along and it was cheaper then either of the bills from the prior saloons!
I’ve been going to her ever since and have always gotten a great color and cut plus good advice on styling and products, even products not sold in the studio. She’s genuine, funny and smart. Go call her up and get your hair done already :)

Theresa is amazing, but I have mixed feelings about now wanting to have sex with my gorgeous hair.

Teresa is fantasic! She really listens to what you want and works with your hair, while also considering the health of your hair. She is the color specialist that I recommend to all my gal pals :-)
