I really loved this place. Great atmosphere, great location, good food and service and on top of that– prices are great. It’s been a while since I’ve been here. Ill fed be back soon for pizza and some Sauvignon blanc

the crust was delicious, the toppings were pretty good. Nice to be able to substitute anything. They also offer vegan cheese and gluten free options. We got the vegetarian and the proscuitto pizza(though substituted with potatoes to make it vegetarian). Both pizza had handful of salad atop the pizza when served. However, when asked what we could substitute it with, the server just simply said anything… and I asked for choices… and she had a hard time coming up with what vegetables they had as options… My girlfriends and I were there on a weeknight. We were eating and chatting, and the we still had a good amount of pizza left. The servers kept coming by asking if we needed anything else, nice yet the frequency and the tone of it made it seem like it was their nice way of trying to clear our table. After the third time within 45 minute… No, my friend is still eating. Don’t you see? It was only maybe around 9:30 or 10 pm. too, and there weren’t that many customers. On their door and website it clearly says they are opened until 11 p.m. Why the rush?

Urbano is really nicely centrally located. We ordered a pizza to share after having some apps at Mo-Chica(and still hungry though delish). We ordered The Fennel(smoked mozzarella, slow and long cooked fennel, goat cheese, thyme, white truffle oil $ 14) and we added some prosciutto. It was delicious and very unique. The pizza was a good size. I had some malbec with it and it was decently priced. Their bottles were priced very reasonably if others want to share!!! My friends had beer but found that the waitress was not very well versed in their beer selection and had a difficult time making solid recommendations. However, the service was good and the food was delish… Would love to come back!

URBANOHASCLOSED! Their last day was this past Friday, unfortunately. The good news is that they will reopen elsewhere, but location is TBD. Their site says that something called«Sixth Street Tavern» will open instead in this location(same owners), so I’m hopeful it’ll be equally as good!

The Spicy Sausage and Fried Egg Pizza is the ONLY reason I come here. Imagine, warm, gooey cheese mixed with a fried egg and buttery egg yolk above a slightly crunchy crust with some tomato sauce and a hint of heat with sausage… What could be better than dipping your pizza pie crust into this heavenly goodness, then washing it down with a Stella Artois? To me — Urbano is sophisticated pizza for the ordinary man. I am fortunate to have the Urbano experience during my lunchtime break at work.

I did like how there were many pizza selections to choose from. We ordered the Prosciutto di parma(mushrooms, wild arugula salad, parmesan cheese). The pizza didn’t jump out with flavor. I was underwhelmed. I think it was the cheese. The texture seemed weird. I believe it was the temperature of the cheese. Either way, I thought the food was acceptable, but not 4 or 5 star caliber. Maybe I will try it again and give it another chance.

Finally went there for the first time since they opened, even though I’ve passed by it a lot. Went for dinner. We shared the grilled artichoke and the spicy sausage pizza with egg. It’s hard to go wrong with grilled artichoke, and this one was good. It was served with a fresh tomato sauce that had some kind of nuts in it. A very good appetizer. The consistency of the cheese on the pizza was odd. It didn’t pull and string, it just stayed put where it was. The crust was a little too thick for me, for thin crust. I really appreciated that they put several eggs on top, instead of just one in the middle. Altogether, it was an ok pizza. I probably wouldn’t choose to come back, but it was fine.

Reminds me a little of NY pizzerias with the seating arrangements. The pizzas are fantastic. Thin crust, fresh toppings and not greasy at all. I had the farmer’s market, which is the chef’s choice of fresh veggies. It was amazing! On top of that, I had to try the pumpkin chocolate chip cookie and vanilla bean ice cream dessert. HEAVEN! It was a great simple, inexpensive meal for 2. Service was cool. I appreciated the manager coming up to us asking if everything was going well. Enjoy!

I’ve been here a couple times now and boy can they make a great pizza. I’ve now tried the Margherita, Proscuitto, and Spicy Sausage pizzas, and none of disappointed. They also have a pretty good selection of wine and beer(no hard liquor). Great place to meetup with friends for a more casual lunch or dinner.

Another good addition to the DTLA area. For those top chef fans– this place is run by Ilan Hall, the first season winner who also runs the Gorbals on the other side of downtown. Good selection of beers and classic italian appetizers with a twist. What I really wan to write about is the pizza special going on this month. Out of this world good! I’m already tempting myself to go back tonight for another bite! Grab a napkin cuz here are the buzz words to get you salivating: — Pumpkin Purée — Goat Cheese(mmmm, I know it’s a love or hate thing for some) — Crrrrrispy bacon — Crushed Pistachios — Roasted Pumpkiin Seeds — all on an incredibly thin and crispy crust. The flavor and balance is just perfect. The pumpkin is slightly sweet, the bacon gives it that good salty punch, while the seeds and pastachio give it that nutty crispy texture. And the goat cheese just seems to complement that pumpkin so good. Go try it before you miss out!

Fennel pizza caught my eye since I saw TRUFFLEOIL! That always wins me over, and they also offer gluten free bread! Pizza wasn’t my favorite but I enjoyed it. It’s a nice place to go in dtla, and it’s next to the Library Bar too. The staff wasn’t too attentive, given we were sitting in a corner outside.

My third time to this joint last night. First I came solo and was surprised how much I enjoyed the pizza(ate a whole 12 inch pie and didn’t feel stuffed like a piñata). Came back a second time with the wife and mother in law. Again, crushed a pie all by my damn self, and it seemed even tastier than before. So round three was last night when I loaded up the Maserati(my Volkswagen Touareg) and took wife and both kids for a pizza party. Again, the pizza was bomb! Everyone loved it. My pie of choice is the Farmer’s Market Pie but I substitute the squash with fresh arugula(I hate squash). The pizza is perfect thin crust and light to eat with the fresh arugula greens on top so I highly recommend this(sort of a pizza salad I guess). Parking sucks during the day(the lot costs around $ 8-$ 12 depending how long you are there). After 6pm it’s a flat fee of $ 5 with validation which makes it better and worth it if you’re gonna hang and knock a few beers back(Jamaica Red on draft!!)

I’m one of those people who needs glasses but refuses to wear them. Sometimes I walk into the returaunt next door to Library Bar and wonder where my friend is. Well, that returaunt is Urbano, and it smelled so damn cheesariffic in there, after a few drinks, I found my way back for some pizza. The service was really friendly, from the guy who walked me over to the doorstep of Library Bar to quick & polite waitstaff, to the warm, melty chocolate chip cookies they brought us! We ordered the beet salad, sweet little golden beets and smooth, salty burrata, YUM! Loved that. My friend and I also got a margarita pizza, which was perfect. Not at all greasy, just the right amount of cheese, perfect 1AM snack after wandering around downtown.

A Ok. Urbano had been on my radar for some time and I was recently able to see what it was all about. Keeping in line with the artisan pizza trend, Urbano looks sleek and styling with the all wood décor and open communal dining tables. There’s tables too, so you won’t always be eating with strangers. Regarding just the pizzas on the menu, there’s a good selection, about 10 or so. My dining companions and I split 3 pies — spicy sausage, potato, and fennel. Each were different and unique in their own right, but the one consistency for all three were the toppings, which I feel they really skimp on. The potato pizza lists its toppings to include bacon, but no one at my table nor myself could find any. The spicy sausage has an egg cooked in the middle of the circular pie, with just a tiny piece of sausage on the edge of each slice. The fennel was probably loaded up the most, but was prepared sloppy, with large uncut greens laying over the top. All in all, they tasted ok, but were missing that wow factor, not making me reel for more. For the price of $ 11-$ 15 per pizza, they don’t quite measure up bang for buck, as compared to some of the newer places that have recently opened of the same vein(Luggage Room, Settebettos, etc). The upside however, is their happy hour M-F, 3−7pm. The happy hour includes half off on all pizzas, and all draft beers, save for the Moretti, are $ 4 each. Come for happy hour if you plan on stopping in here.

Rustic and friendly vibe immediately when you walk through the door! It wasn’t crowded for 8pm on a Friday night, but there was also a movie being filmed on the same street, so who knows! The three of us sat at the center banquet table, thats raised like a bar, equipped with steel stools and a nice view of the open kitchen. The waiter was very friendly and the food came out really fast! We tried the Spicy Sausage pizza and the Potato pizza. Both were very unique and satisfied every taste bud in my mouth. I die for brussel sprouts, and this Potato pizza was fully loaded! Not only were the tasty roasted veggies on it but there were two different types of fingerling potatoes, perfectly done. The spicy sausage was married with a few large EGGS cracked gently on top, above a very delicious red marinera sauce. The biggest pieces of fresh parsley garnished this pizza and washed down well with a house beer brew. Ahhhh!

Fantastic pizza! My friend brought me here before the DTLA Artwalk, and I’m so glad she did! I lived downtown at the time, so my favorite pizzeria in Marina Del Rey had been too far for me to go to most of the time but Urbano became my new pizza spot! They have delicious choices of Neapolitan(the best kind!) pizzas and sides!(We had the Selvatica and the Margherita with a side of their roasted corn) Plus, the staff is super friendly! Urbano, thank you for filling my stomach without emptying my wallet. You can be sure that I’ll be back for more!

Oh my gosh! BESTDARNTHINCRUSTPIZZAEVER! While roaming around DTLA on a Saturday night… we knew we are on a mission to get our drink on, but needed to prepare with food in our bellies! Thats when we came across Urbano which we had been meaning to try out for quite some time. Best decision ever. Started off with a Blue Moon & a Stone IPA… and we took a chance in ordering: Pizza: POTATO= Weiser farms fingerling potatoes, brussels sprouts, roasted garlic, house smoked bacon, parmesan cream sauce for a good $ 13 Now this pizza was split amongst 2 people but could easily be devoured by 1 assuming you’re hungry. This is the thinnest pizza I’ve ever consumed & one of the tastiest! Mouthwatering, flavorful, so good in everyway… even the crust is heavenly. I’m SO looking forward to trying out every Pizza on the menu! The staff was super cool, the décor rocks, indoor & outdoor seating, good for groups, bar area & it’s right on the corner so you can’t miss it. Another plus is it’s right next to Library Bar… so you don’t have to walk far to get more drinks! Happy eating.

For those familiar with the Library Bar, the Urbano Pizza Bar is the neighboring restaurant owned by the same people as the Library Bar. The place is compact yet roomy and gives off a rustic and hipsterish ambiance. We made a reservation for seven people at 7 pm on a Saturday night and got in just fine. We were given menus and sleek glasses of water immediately. After some discussion, two people decided to get the chicken pesto panini, my friend and I decided to split Scimietta(pumpkin, goat cheese, smoked bacon) pizza, and the rest got their own individual Salsiccia(fennel sausage, caramelized onions, tomato, mozzarella) pizzas. We did wait some time, though it did not seem that long thanks to the wonderful people I was with. The paninis, unsurprisingly, came first and looked fantastic! The side salad that came with it boasted toasted onions, a citrusy vinaigrette dressing and fresh romaine and spinach leaves. The panini itself looked crunchy and packed full of wonderful flavors. Our Scimietta came next. Once again, a very attractive dish and it turned out to be quite good. However, I could have used a thicker pumpkin sauce and goat cheese that was more spread out. Otherwise, the crust was perfect and every now and then, I would get a terrific bite of pumpkin, goat cheese, smoked bacon, spring onions and… YUM. What a product! The boys seemed to enjoy their Salsiccias, so I think everyone was happy. We decided to end the meal with the Poco Dolce, caramelized pizza bread with sweet ricotta in the middle with your choice of a filling(we decided to get nutella). It took a bit longer for it to come out… and when it did come out, we were a little surprised by how small it turned out to be. Nonetheless, it was just the right amount of sweet and had a terrific texture. Overall, it’s a very stylish place to go to with friends. The pizzas are tasty and everything else on the menu looked just as good. I don’t know if I’ll be back, but I do recommend it!

There’s only a few things better in life than getting a hot pizza and a cold beer on a brisk autumn evening. I snagged one of the Blackboard Eats coupons for Urbano Pizza Bar and on a Thursday night we stopped by to give it a shot. The restaurant has plenty of outside seating and is fully equipped with heat lamps. The inside has several tables along with windows and a big cafeteria style table in the middle. There are chalkboards hanging above the cash register as well as paper menus on the counter. The wood-fire oven is exposed and behind a low counter that also has some more seats. Urbano has a nice selection of beers to go with your pizza. The one I got was almost black with no transparency. The food menu is mostly pizzas with some small plates to share and desserts. To start we got the grilled little gem ‘Ceasare’ salad(with parmigiano, anchovy dressing, and black pepper). When I tried the first bite I was surprised that the salad was warm. I usually like my salads nice and cold with crispy lettuce but this one actually wasn’t bad. The dressing was strong and there was just the right amount of cheese. For my pizza I got the salsiccia fennel sausage with caramelized onions, tomato, mozzarella. Because the pizzas are wood-fired the crust had the perfect amount of char to add some extra flavor without killing the other flavors. The big chunks of sausage were hot and juicy and the onions and tomatoes were very fresh and popped with a rich taste. We were both pretty full after this but we still wanted to try their desserts. Our first decision was the pumpkin gelato to go along with the season. Unfortunately they ran out of it earlier in the evening. Instead, we got the poco dolce(caramelized pizza bread with sweet ricotta and nutella). This meal was a a complete carb overload. It was almost like we got one dinner pizza and another dessert pizza. The dessert was crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside. Urbano is in one of the busiest areas of the city which offers great people watching through the humungous windows. Parking can be a pain in the area as well with some places charging upwards of $ 20 per car. But keep in mind, the subway is only a few short blocks away. *hint hint*

A newer lunch place conveniently located near the 110 and an off ramp. The lunch special is $ 6 bucks and you get two slices of pepperoni pizza. The service was nice. The restaurant was clean. My overall impression of the lunch special is that it was AOK. Mags C picked the place. She forgot to mention my traumatic experience and why I don’t eat fungus. That’s ok. Her mushroom pizza looked no better than mine. She has the same score as me too. Same with my buddy. All three of us think this was AOK. Again, this was just the lunch special. An affordable stop for lunch at $ 6 bucks, plus tax and tip. Overall, AOK.
