I’ve been going to Weidman Gallery for over ten years and I would never take my posters, photos and artwork anywhere else. Janet and her staff are helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and creative. I see a few people are complaining about the time it takes — if you need it back quickly you can pay for a rush job, but I’ve never bothered, never had to wait more than two to three weeks for my stuff to be returned and, most importantly, it’s always GORGEOUS. If you want it cheap and fast, go to Aaron Brothers. If you want it done right, go to Weidman.

I hate to give one star to any business and I wanted to, but decided on two stars, but it really was a one star experience and I must share it so people know their place when they walk into this store. Perhaps it is my fault for giving them the business. This place has a great collection of posters and I think that if you are looking for something really special, they have it or will find it for you. They were recommended to me by a poster dealer in Belgium which I bought about 10 antique posters from. They are also members of a poster association which is supposed to make them legit, I’m going to contact that association and inquire on this business. Their time frame on getting work done and their general service is really not worth the wait. They act like they are the only framers in LA, they act like they are the only people that can put posters on canvas, but I did research and there are many quality people that can do this. They also outsource their canvas mounting, so they need to get that corrected, instead of making the customer wait months. CANVAS: It took 2 months to get my posters put on canvas, it was supposed to be one month, I do not care who is on vacation, not my problem, if I send my employees on vacation or if I take a vacation, I do not pass on longer time frame or give my customers that excuse… FRAMING: was supposed to take 2 weeks and I called them yesterday after 27 days, they told me it would be done in the next few days. I’m sure it had not been started, but when I told them I would pick it up, they called me saying it was ready. So it took three months to get 6 small posters on canvas and 3 framed. They do make it a point to tell you they are busy with their big orders and you have to wait for your small order. I’m sure they have their big clients and they cater to them, so maybe they should make it more of a private gallery by appointment only, the the average person does not go through this senseless waiting of 3 months to canvas 6 posters and frame 3. They also tell you all they can do is apologize. I think a business can do more than that. It’s really too bad. They have this great Apocalypse Now poster in Japanese which my wife wanted to buy me for our 10th anniversary, but after the way they handled my order, I can’t give them more business, but someone should buy that poster, but don’t get framed there, it will take months, unless you have deep deep pockets to pay for a rush fee. I spent close to $ 1500, here, so I’m not complaining about a few dollars, it’s the three months that really bothered me and the lack of communication or compassion of all that waiting after paying for it. I’m just stating real facts here and if the owner wants to contact me, I can send him or her copies of the receipts and the dates on them. I hope we don’t have to go back and forth, because I’m at my limit and want to move on. I’m writing this review to inform people, but there also seems to be a few people here that have had a similar experience. I was so happy to have a place here to buy this type of work, but they did nothing right

I just had my John Lennon lithograph framed. There were so many choices, but I got expert advice and stayed in my budget. It turned out more beautiful than I expected! It was finished on time as promised. The staff was friendly & helpful. Thanks Janet!

After having to deal with Aaron’s Brothers incompetent stuff and leaving in huge frustration I called my friend Donna who works at Weidman Gallery for many years. I was thinking their prices would have been out of my reach and I would have saved money at Aaron’s Brothers… I was wrong. I head over to visit the Gallery with my pictures expecting to pay higher price but get a quality work. I’m so happy I did that! Donna is very professional, she is passionate about her work, has a great taste and eye for design, takes her time to listen to you and gives recommendations based on your décor and likes. She will work around your budget. To my big surprise the prices were far better than at Aaron’s brothers even with their 40−50% discount and the quality of moldings far better at the Weidman’s. I was able to frame all of my 4 pictures there! I can’t wait to pick them up! I would highly recommend them for any of your framing needs.

First things, first: They moved to: 8272 Melrose Ave. Los Angeles, CA. 90046 Parking is just metered as far as I know… slightly North of Melrose, there is some«free» parking in the residential area — but read the posted signs. Custom Framing: I’ve have to many frame shops; from family owned to corporate owned. I go to different types of places for different reasons… the idea is something along the lines of the Project Triangle. I like the Weidman Gallery because of their knowledge, quality of their work, and their commitment to giving you exactly what you want. Yes, its custom so its expensive but they really show you there are different levels of custom(so the price doesn’t sky-rocket all the way to the moon). I appreciate that, as one piece may(its in progress) reach up to 6 feet high and 12 feet long. Hopefully not. I’ll update this once the ball gets rolling.

Staff is quite helpful and friendly in person, but extremely lax in keeping customer updated on status of item when it’s been sent for repairs. I was quoted on a 1 – 3 week turnaround for linen-backing of a poster of mine… after 4 weeks of no communication, I had to call them for an update, and only then did I find out my poster had been appraised for repairs. Where was the phone call? I don’t know what they were waiting for?! UPDATE: After calling to find out what was going on with my poster and where it was, it took another 12 days to have it arrive back from east coast. I feel torn in writing such a negative review because they are so nice and helpful in person(at least in my experience), but when your treasured item is left in their care, the lack of contact between customer and shop becomes worrying. All in all, a 1 – 3 week quote turned into a 6 week ordeal. I think they would be outstanding if you were looking to purchase art, but for restoration, I would definitely check out other options and shops before deciding on Weidman.
