I love the food here. We usually get the cold noodle soup and some meat(combo meal). I wish they gave more meat but the taste makes up for it. Street parking unless you want to fight for parking or do valet. Their dumplings are good size. I recommend you eat the cold noodle soup.

Came here over the weekend after a morning in Santee. I wasn’t looking forward to it because I was craving something unhealthy, lol. But we ordered the #1 Chic Mui Naang Myun, which is the beef and vegetables in the cold broth and the regular bibimbap. The #1 was tasteful. If you like cucumbers, the broth is sweet and a little thick with a cucumber after taste. There was a good amount of noodles and beef. The regular bibimbap came with rice, radish, kimchi, cucumbers and tofu soup. Stir it all up and it was onto f the best lunches I’ve had in a while. My fiancé and I shared both dishes. I didn’t feel like I had food coma after, but I was famished. BESTTHING: they have All You Can Drink self serve warm broth by the cashier. Parking in LA is parking in LA … they do have a small lot that offers valet. I’m not sure how much. But if you’re lucky, you may find street parking.

The best naeng myun(cold noodles) in my life — even better than some naeng myun I had in Korea! The broth is super flavorful and doesn’t need many adjustments, just a little bit of mustard or vinegar will suffice! We also had ddukbokgi, which was a super huge portion and was super delicious! Service was pretty good as well, though you do have to get your own broth and water. It more than deserves its reputation for being one of the best naeng myun spots in Koreatown.

Solid classic, homey Korean food spot. They have cold noodles(neng myun) all year round(even in the winter when the craving hits), plus an extremely large bibimbap(they call it a dolpan instead of a dolsot, because I guess technically it comes out in a pan, and not a pot haha). TBH I don’t think a lot of food here is vegetarian friendly — though you could guess that bibim nengmyun(spicy cold noodles) are, and maybeeeee nengmyun(though I doubt it, Korean broths are usually anchovy or beef based). That being said, you can’t go wrong with a veggie/egg only dolpan bibimbap or even some of the other food like ddukbokki(spicy rice cakes)… just avoid stuff with broth(or ask!). LOGISTICS *Some street parking, but I’ve always ended up paying the $ 2 valet to park in the lot which is kind of eh but what can you do. *Service has always been sufficient — standard for KTown, I’d say. *Decent sized restaurant — much bigger than the hole-in-the-wall other Korean restaurants, it’s almost like they took over their neighbors and expanded into two units. Mostly tables of 2/4, but could easily combine(but expect a wait during peak times in the summer/weekend). We came on a weekday evening(7? 7:30?) and it was pretty empty(so strange). Would recommend for sure! I’m not sure if’s the«best» in KTown, but we end up here a lot, so… actions speak louder than words, right?

Hello. This is the BEST place to come for cold noodles. I am telling you, you won’t be disappointed. It does get really busy during the prime lunch and dinner hour. I tend to come during off hours to avoid waiting. I am just not the type to wait 20 minutes or longer to eat. Normally, I order their Cold Noodles, Non-Spicy, and their Kimchi Dumplings. I don’t know why, but whenever I am eating noodles, I always need dumplings on the side. Why is the color of the noodles different from regular cold noodles? This is because«chic» means the noodles are made from arrowroot. Therefore, it is a lot chewier and darker colored. Their spicy sauce is just on point. I ask for extra sauce on side. There are also other items on the menu for those who aren’t a fan of cold noodles. They do offer Bibimbap, Spicy Rice Cake, Kalgooksoo, and Tofu Soup!

Best texture and soup flavor for Naeng Myun I’ve ever had! The Boiled dumplings were also delicious — thin skins and good meat to skin ration. Will definitley be back the next time! I also really liked the portion size of the noodles. It was the perfect amount to the soup. Bonus soup is self serve if you want extra!

Unless you’re REALLY craving naeng myun, you can probably skip this place. I’ve probably had naeng myun from hundreds of places in my lifetime, so I generally know what to look for. Between my parents and I, we ordered the bibim naeng myun, mul naeng myun, hwe naeng myun, as well as some mandoo. The naeng myun was good, but nothing too remarkable, and the yuk-soo(broth) was a bit too salty. The mandoo was definitely a mistake – it easily fell apart and was not very flavorful at all. I will have to say that they do have a pretty expansive menu which could be good for groups and the pan bibimbap looked amazing.

It is one of good Korean cold noodle places in Korea town and I am glad that I got to try it! I was really hungry and everything on the menu looked good, so it took us a while to decide what to order. We ended up ordering the bibim cold noodle and kalbi combo, kimchi dumplings and spicy pork bibimbab. Everything we ordered is pretty good. The cold noodle’s noodle is different from regular cold noodles. It is made with Kudzu, so it is dark colored noodle but it is healthier for you. Korean people eat cold noodles with broth as a drink. Some places goes around and pour them to you, but here, it is self-service. There is a warmer in the front near the counter, and you can grab them as much as you can. I have to say service is not the best but considering it is a Korean restaurant, it is not too bad. If you like Korean cold noodles, this is a good place to try. Foods: 4 stars Service: 3 stars Atmosphere: 3 stars Overall Experience: 3.5 stars

Big Portions, Decent Prices, Delicious Food. I came here with two girlfriends around 5:30 pm on a Friday evening, and there were quite a few people already there. We were seated immediately and given our menus. Overall, the service was pretty good. Someone came by often to refill our waters, and we were able to order our food pretty quickly. We ended up order the Ra Bokki, Galbi, and Hwe Naeng Myun. When we saw our food, we immediately regretted ordering so many items. The portions were enormous; enough to serve easily 4 – 5 people. The Ra Bokki was pretty typical. The fish cakes were chewy and delicious, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the texture of the ramen noodles. It wasn’t very chewy, but it wasn’t exactly crispy either. The heat of the dish made it especially spicy, so we were glad that we ordered naengmyun on the side. The cold and tanginess of the naengmyun nicely broke up the heat and spiciness of the rabokki. As for the hwe naengmyun, I would not order this particular type of naengmyun again. The raw fish pieces were a bit weird, probably because I’m not used to it. The raw fish had a thick piece of bone attached, which made it difficult to bite; the texture was mushy and overall not very appealing. The noodles themselves were nice and chewy, with a really strong sesame taste. However, the tangy sauce nicely covers the sesame taste. I would recommend coming here for the naengmyun on hot days and the rabokki/dukbokki for cold days. If you’re like, come here any day and order both. Why not? SIDENOTE/Heads up: We finished eating around 15 minutes to 7, and valet parking started while we were in there. There were a few cars parked behind ours. The valet person asked us for a receipt from the restaurant, but when we were about to go back into the restaurant to get a receipt, he stopped us and said something along the lines of «oh, you went to that restaurant, it’s okay then.»

Pretty good naeng myun place in ktown. We got their bibim chic naeng myun. Apparently they give you an icy cold broth to pour over the bibim naeng myun. This is the first time I’ve seen this… And surprisingly it was really good! Definitely loved it. We actually got to the restaurant around 1:30pm on a Saturday for lunch and the place was packed! We waited about 10min to get seated. Although the place was busy and full, the turn around time was pretty short bc the place is huge and most people eat quickly and leave. The service is not the best but I don’t expect much service at a Korean joint so it didn’t bother me. My bf ended up going up to the counter to pay bc they were taking forever bringing us our check. I think most tables did this. Word of advice… If it’s busy have them get you your check when you order. Oh and the hot broth is self service!

The cold noodles here are so refreshing! If it’s a hot day, I love me a good bowl of this. The portions are very generous, and I love the endless broth you can get on the side. As you might predict with all other places in Ktown though, parking can be a pain. There’s limited neighborhood parking and the valet inside the lot gets packed. Suggestion: Avoid rush meal hours. to avoid both the lines and the parking rush! Favorites: –Chic mul naeng myun(w/broth) and the chic bibim naeng myun(w/out broth)

I eat here quite often during a hot California day… which seems much too frequent especially since it’s almost end of October… For first timers the dark colored noodles are made from a root and is apparently healthy for you. I eat it for the broth which probably has tons of beef dashida(beef stock powder). When you first walk in, unless there is a waiting list, seat yourself. A server will bring the settings and menu. After ordering grab yourself a cup of the warm beef broth set against the back wall, it’s self service. On the top of the menu there are three noodles options. With broth, without broth, and without broth plus raw fish. I order normally the second one which is the«Bibim» noodles that has no broth since it’s spicier. They bring you a tiny bowl of the icy, cold broth anyway. I always get a side of the kimchi dumplings(5 pieces for $ 10.99 but they are huge). Normally it’s only a party of two for me and we order one noodles with broth, one without, and dumplings. End up spending about $ 40 with tip.

Lunch on Thursday, 9÷10÷15 We decided to have lunch on a week day but it’s still busy even at 1pm. There’s valet parking too if you can’t find a parking spot. The wait for a party of 4 took about 25 minutes. The ambiance is casual and it’s somewhat cool inside as the weather was really hot and humid outside. We ordered the cold noodles and a side of the kimchi pancakes. There’s also beef broth and seafood(?) broth located next to the cashier. It’s self serve so drink up. It’s not as good as Hansol Noodle’s beef broth because it tasted like ramen packets that were added to it hot water. Our food took about 20 minutes to come out, not sure why it took so long. We munched on pickled turnips as we waited. The kimchi pancakes were delicious. It had a bit of batter as well as crispness. Perfectly made. The spicy cold noodles were good too. I haven’t tried the original with the broth so I’ll have to come back. I can see why people would wait for a table even with the long lines.

Remember that scene from The Hunger Games when Katniss and Peeta were taking refuge in the cavern because of Peeta’s deep gash wound and out of the sky came one of those precious silver silk parachutes bearing a gift of hot, nourishing soup? I imagine how much that soup must’ve revived Peeta and that’s how I would describe the amazing BROTH they have here. It definitely revived us. And you don’t even have to pay for it! There’s a self-service station where you can help yourself to water and broth. We went back at least half a dozen times. But the original reason we came was to have some Korean cold noodles. I’ve never had them before so I have nothing to compare this to, but I did love it! My friend and I both ordered the #1CHICMULNAENGMYUN. It came out quickly, the large metal bowl filled with buckwheat noodles, sliced beef and vegetables in a broth, all of it cold. It was fantastic, especially the noodles.

I came around 2pm on a Saturday and there was still a long line. It was pretty busy, but the line moved quickly. Once we were seated, it took about 15 min for the food to come out. My family ordered 2 mool nengmyun, 1 bibim nengmyun, and 1 hwae mool nengmyung. The bibim/hwae was not that great. The pepper flakes were large and visible, and the sauce was not that great. I did like how there was a variety of different vegetables inside the nengmyun though. The mool nengmyun was pretty good, especially the broth. There was a good amount of noodles in the nengmyun. I’m not sure if I would come back again, but it was worth trying once.

I saw this on Anthony Bourdain’s LA Layover episode. I love naengmyun so when I heard this was supposedly the best I knew I had to try it. PARKING: There is a small lot, which is only valet but we actually just parked in the Koreatown Galleria parking lot(which is free) on a Saturday around 5:30pm and just walked over. It’s probably 5 minutes walking, the only annoying thing is that you have to cross the street at a pedestrian crossing that isn’t a streetlight. ATMOSPHERE: It is your typical korean restaurant with minimal décor, oldish white tables and chairs that are slightly padded. I could tell that it gets crowded during peak hours but they have 2 rooms. FOOD: They have free soup that you get in cups that look like tea cups. You don’t have to order anything specific you can just go over there and drink it, it’s like a hot daikon soup. Pretty tasty. #1 Chic Naeng Myun — they claim it’s not spicy but they do put some red paste in there. #2 is the the«spicy» one so they probably just put more. I told them no red stuff in mine even though I ordered #1. I’m not sure if it’s because they cut your noodles or if they give you more but they give you a good amount. It was like a never ending bowl. The broth was tasty, with chunks of ice in it. The noodles chewy and darker than I’ve seen before. Overall it was good but not significantly better than ones I’ve had at other places. KALBI — definitely enough for 4 people. Was tasty, not tough, well seasoned and grilled. Not too charred either. KIMCHIMANDU — I couldn’t really eat this because it was spicy but my family said it was good. They are BIG, and shrively when you get it(not quite that appetizing) but the skin was firm and slightly chewy and inside is literally just kimchi. Overall, good and I could see why people come here a lot but i’m not sure it’s worth driving all the way out to ktown for.

Monday night dinner @ 7:30pm: The tables turn relatively quickly here since noodles and dumplings are relatively quick and easy to eat. So, for a table of 2 at prime dinner time, we waited 15 – 20 minutes(7 small parties before us). FOOD * Kimchi Wang Mandu: 6 giant, steamed, kimchi-filled dumplings, $ 7.50. The skin is the standard thinness, slightly chewy, delicately holding an almost tennis ball load of kimchi stuffing. Not spicy, just DELICIOUS! I had half the order along with some Chic Bibim Naang Myun and still had to fight back the urge to call out another order of mandu. They also sell them frozen for those who want to take home and enjoy. * Chic Bibim Naang Myun: sliced beef, hard-boiled egg, cucumber, radish over noodles with spicy red sauce, $ 8.50. Not very spicy, on the sweeter side for the most part. Noodles have a slight bite but doesn’t require excessive chewing. The noodle to vegetable to sauce ratio is right on. I’d add a little more protein though, like the entire hard-boiled egg. PARKING Streets(we found a lot on Olympic after gridlock) or valet in the private lot out front(a few bucks). Will be back for more mandu!

Naengmyun is my favorite thing to eat when its hot out because everything else seems to just make you feel well, just hotter lol. The korean cold noodles here are in a really flavorful broth and the consistency of the noodles is yummy too! The pre-meal beef broth that you self-serve is sooooo good I could drink like 5 cups of those things. We also ordered the kimchi pancake and dumplings to share all were very delicious. Service was quite good considering we don’t speak Korean, yet they were very attentive and sweet in taking our order. The only annoying thing is that parking is valet only and it was really crowded when we got there on a weekday during lunch hour.

Interesting place to go to in Koreatown. Yes, fought the rush hour traffic, found parking close by even though there’s a small valet lot, walk in sweating a little, but was able to cool off eating a bowl of their infamous Nengmyun cold noodles. In addition we had an order of their Beef Dumplings with Kimchi, and also an order of their hot plate Kalbi. In addition, they have a huge pot of self serving beef broth soup at the corner of the restaurant towards the back as you enter. Interesting enough, the self service broth was delicious! Don’t know if there’s msg in it(quite sure there was), but it was good. Going back to my Nengmyun cold noodles, I ordered the spicy cold noodle #2. Knowing it was going to be that way, I asked the waitress to prepare the spiciness at mild. The dry noodles was quite tasty. It was prepared with dark root noodles, some beef, Kimchi daichon, chili paste Korean style, and a half an egg. It is also served with a small bowl of iced vinegary broth/sauce that you may add into the Nengmyun dry noodles as an option. The beef Kimchi dumplings were huge! It was okay tasting, but unfortunately not a lot of flavor. I tasted the meat, but the Kimchi inside didn’t help enhance it’s flavor. I guess I’ve been spoiled too much with tasty Chinese Xiao Long Baos(dumplings) in the SGV! But honestly I can’t compare these dumplings because of the ethnic differences. Lastly we had an order of Kalbi. It was delicious. Very tasty and quite lean to be exact. The Kalbi was served on a hot platter. But the order is small, so prepare to order something else in addition to if everyone is hungry. The service was good. The waitresses are very attentive and made sure we were fine. I like that. I’m not a huge cold noodle fan anywhere I go, but I do like this place. And yes I recommend Yu Chun if you like cold noodles. It’s surely refreshing on a warm day. For dumplings, I would think twice. Good service and good Nengmyun cold noodles is worth a decent four stars.

TLDR — AMAZING cold noodles, huge portion sizes and very affordable! I’ll admit, I’ve never had Korean cold noodles before so I don’t really have a basis for comparison, but the noodles here were legit some of the BEST noodles I’ve ever had of any kind(Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, etc). Maybe Korean naeng myun is just so much yummier than other kinds of noodles in general, or maybe the naeng myun here is exceptional. Either way, I definitely recommend the cold noodles here! Aside from the various cold noodles(spicy or nonspicy; beef, fish or both), they have mandu(dumplings), kalguksu(noodle soup), kalbi, bibimbap, soontofu, rice cakes, fried rice and some other things. The prices here are really good(around $ 10), especially given the portion sizes! Enough for someone with an average appetite to share with another or eat for 2 meals. The banchan /side dishes here are limited and simple but above average. The kimchi, pickled radish and cucumber were all very fresh, and I especially liked the seaweed. They also have self-serve soup broth, which is really flavorful. I got the CHICHWENAENGMYUN(spicy cold noodles with raw fish), which were SOGOOD. Cold noodles are perfect for a warm day! Though if it’s really hot, the nonspicy cold noodles are probably a better option. For anyone who hasn’t had Korean cold noodles before, they give you a bowl of iced broth separate from the noodle bowl and you pour in the broth yourself. DEFINITELY try one of their cold noodles! I also tried some of the MANDUKALGUKSU(homemade noodles with dumplings, $ 10). The broth was light but super flavorful, the dumplings were HUGE and the noodles were perfectly chewy. Staff is super friendly and actually offered to refill our banchan(usually we have to specifically ask ourselves) and even checked in during our meal to see if we needed anything else(I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen at a Korean restaurant). Their English isn’t perfect but we had no trouble communicating with them. Parking lot is small, but no surprise there if you know LA. ========== –CHICHWENAENGMYUN($ 11) — 5⁄5 [spicy cold noodles with raw fish] MMMMMMSOYUMMYY. Their noodles are nice and chewy, and the sauce/broth combination has a lot of flavor and a good amount of heat without being too spicy. The raw fish was… interesting. Not sure how I feel about it. It wasn’t bad, but I would have never been able to tell what I was eating if I didn’t know beforehand. The fish had a very chewy texture and basically only had the spicy sauce taste. There’s a decent amount of fish and a HUGE portion of noodles(and half of a hardboiled egg). I personally would’ve preferred some more veggies though!
