One thing is certain in Los Angeles, finding a qualified, knowledgeable and talented tree trimmer is a rarity. Alcala Tree Service ISNOTTHEANSWER. They are hacks. My neighbor hired them to trim the trees that we share on our property line. Now the trees look horrific, uneven, flat-topped, over pruned, lopsided. They even gutted a stunning(protected) California Oak, which is illegal with out a permit. They had no permit. Sadly the trees are now all weakened from the haphazard trimming. These guys are cheap, and you get what you pay for in this case, bald trees. It will take years for the trees to recover, if they ever do. Also, they workers are rude and trespassed on my property. If you want your trees to be healthy and look good: DONOTHIREALCALATREESERVICE!!! You’ll be sad.

I’m reluctant to give up a great resource for fear of them getting too busy, then raising their prices. But I need to give props to Alcala. There’s usually a small feeling of invasion of privacy when someone rubber bands a business card to your front door handle. My initial reaction is to never call them on principle…“I’ll find my OWN damn person!” Nevertheless, I needed some tree work done, and if you check my other reviews in the Tree Service category, you’ll see I haven’t quite found the right company. At least someone there might already know how to get to my house? So I called and made an appointment for an estimate the next day(good sign). We worked with Miguel. He had the best quote for two separate projects and didn’t pressure us to do all of it «tomorrow.» He came on time to trim my three palm trees. He works quickly and efficiently and removed all evidence that we was there. He has a good eye, and my trees look beautiful! Next month, I’ll ask him to come back and take out a nasty yucca tree that’s pressing up against my neighbor’s block wall. Office number is(310) 787‑1612. Apparently they also do sprinklers, sod, even concrete and fences!
