Been to a lot of clubs in my life and this is probably the worst by a landslide. There is no seating for non-VIP guests. It is way too insanely crowded but that might just be due to the density of SF and the limited space of prime downtown real estate. As others have said the sound system is terrible. The high frequencies suffer from serious clipping. $ 14 Long Island iced teas are slightly steep. The décor was ok. ATB was the headliner but he only came on around midnight, which is way too late, wow. Let’s talk more about my main pet peeve that this place is too small and overbooked: I got drinks spilled on me TWICE. There is no dance room there. I’ve been to crowded clubs but people respect your space. Here the whole place is filled, even up to the entrance. People sat on the floor, usually wet from spilled drinks. People spill drinks everywhere, likely due to overcrowding. I often thought during the night that clubs like these would be news headlines if there was a fire, followed by trampling and people get stuck at choke points. If you are going for the music, skip this place and look elsewhere. If you go just for the sake of clubbing, this might pass.

The bouncers are complete dicks and the venue honestly sucks. The people give bad vibes all night and the sound system is subpar. It is very cramped inside and surrounded by belligerent drunk people who know nothing about the music. It’s very hard to have a good time even though the DJs they book are often amazing. Even with such amazing DJs, I must either be desperate to do something or I have to think long and hard if I really want to go to Ruby Skye even if my favorite DJ is performing.

Print your tickets if you’re going to a show! I was offended by how rude the bouncer was when I wanted to be paperless by showing him the ticket on my phone. The 3LAU show was awesome.
