La Palapa

Nice location near the beach where we got to see the sunset. I had the special burrito with chili verde. Very good. About 3 meals worth of very good. I took a lot home with me. I’ll be back.

I have tried Sopes at many restaurants, these were the best! Service was great and included wonderful live music! Next time we come to the coast we will be back! My husband tried the super burrito. He loved it! Servings are large and we both had boxes to go!

This is the best restaurant in Los Osos hands down! The food is amazing and the service is great. We eat here very often and today we had their brunch buffet and it was absolutely delicious!!! I usually get the fajitas or there giant carne asada burro, my wife has the Pozole. Hand made tortillas!!! I have never been disappointed with this restaurant if you are looking for a great Mexican restaurant, this is it!!!

Great mole and if you ever have the chance try the huevos rancheros, very tasty. Just be patient and enjoy the people your with.

Defiantly a family owned restaurant, and a very good one at that. Expect family service when small children sometimes bring chips to your table. The food is very good, fresh and well prepared. A gem in the neighborhood always a safe choice.

This is our go to place for Mexican. I love there Chili Rellenos, whole fried fish, and tacos. I really enjoy everything they do but those are my favorites. The service can be a bit slow but if you expect that it’s no problem. It’s a small staff so Patience is good to have And it’s worth it!

The chile relleno was best I ever had. Tasty vegetarian tostada. Service was fair. Sit down atmosphere fine. I’ll be back.

WORST service ever… have been here before not bad but not good…
we walked here from our house… waited 20 min to get a seat… waiter acted like we were bothering him… was semi busy food came quick was average… no service at all no water, no silverware, no nothing… waited for our check for 20 min nothing walked up to desk to get check and was treated like we were bothering him again… were local… live very close walking distance and WILL NEVER Come again… can’t wait to see what the next resturant will be in this building because this place SUCKS! better off going to the ale house or the naked fish… better service… don’t waste your time or money… Update …P.S WAS SICK ALL NIGHT long… skip

Read the reviews so was a little skeptical but stopped in anyway! Food was amazing I had the fish tacos hubby had 2 taco combo neither one of us had a complaint about the food. The only complaint would be it is a little pricy and lunch menu a little deceiving said 2 fish tacos for $ 10.95 waiter asked if I wanted rice and beans I said yes but he failed to tell me it would be extra charge same on hubby’s taco combo. All in all good experience excellent food just slightly overpriced would definitely go back.

I used to love the food here, and would eat here frequently. I would still eat here, if I could figure out when they are open. They have hours posted on their door, but they are not really open during those hours. I’ve tried calling in take-​out orders, but they don’t answer the phone during times you would think they would be open (like 4:00 pm on a weekend). There isn’t a recording that says the name of the restaurant and the hours. The phone just goes to voicemail that says the mailbox is full. I don’t think they even HAVE regular hours, but just kind of open when they feel like it.
La Palapa, regrettably, I’m crossing you off my list of go-​to places and replacing you with somewhere less tasty but more reliable.

Good Mexican food with great service. A small family run place.
I ordered a carnitas taco salad which, aside from lettuce, included rice, beans, onion, cheese, sour cream, guacamole… It could have been better with a bit more pork but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
I liked that the iced tea is served in a mason jar. They also have some good house wines and the petit syrah I had was quite good.

When a Jersey girl can make better Mexican food than a Mexican place. someone’s in trouble:)
We had awful food– bland, no flavor — over abundance of rice and crappy refried beans– gross!
If you like bland, crap food– please eat here!
Only good thing was the tamarindo.

Took a friend and our kids to lunch there on Sunday. I swear our waitress had short term memory loss. She would remember about half the things we asked for, and then we’d proceed to re-​ask for the others. It went like this throughout the lunch. We waited about 15 minutes for water, although the chips and salsa came to the table quickly. Hard to eat a bunch of chips and salsa with no liquids to wash it down. Had to order the hibiscus drink twice to get it to the table, and the hot chocolate three times. There did not seem to be rhyme or reason or any sort of order to the service. I think they need to get that nailed down in order to help the flow.
On to the food:
I ordered the tostado. It was just ok, and the flour shell tasted as though it was fried in old, spoiled oil. The ground beef was underseasoned. The veggies were good though!
My friend had the cheese enchilada. She liked it ok.
My 8 year old wanted a ground beef taco alacarte. What came was literally a soft corn tortilla with some ground beef dumped in it. No beans, cheese, rice, in it. A different waitress came by and asked if we wanted a side of beans and cheese, which was very nice!
My friend’s daughter ordered a taco plate. What inexplicably came instead was a huge burrito. Oh well, it was edible.
All in all, I can’t say I recommend this place, either for the food (mediocre) or the service (scattered and disorganized, albeit friendly.)

Great Mexican food! The staff is friendly. Food is amazing! Glad they are open 7 days a week now.

Amazing food and the best Mexican around. Always bring friends and family here when they visit and we are never disappointed.
Great service. A bit slow, but that’s because the food is all fresh! They even make their own tortillas to order!
Also a bit higher in price but you get what you pay for. Tasty food and good selection. Great breakfast on the weekends.
We love their salsa, guacamole, chorizo, carne asada tacos and their carnitas!

Where to start with La Palapa. Yes, the service is laid back and the only music is music coming out of the kitchen, but the food is without a doubt the best I have had on the Central Coast. The. Best. I do not mess around when it comes to Mexican food and Jose and his team produce flavorful and addicting dishes that keep me coming back for more.
I am vegan and they are always accommodating! Their veggie burrito is amazing… but honestly, I could eat rice and beans and their fresh tortillas all day long and be happy.
Be patient and enjoy the awesome views — the food is the BEST!
