Rock-N-Water

I can’t say enough good things about the 49er Overnighter! My son had a fantastic time while I just followed around and relaxed!!! LOVED IT!!!

This was a wonderful and fun camp for my son’s 4^th grade Gold Rush overnight trip. Beautiful and very clean campgrounds. The staff was very friendly and always around.

Had a fantastic time on a 49er camp camping trip with my daughters school.

Our church youth group of junior highers went to Rock-​N-​Water and had a blast! We had a great time exploring nature and white-​water rafting. The youth were able to unplug from all the distractions of the world and really focus on the Lord. Overall, it was the best trip we’ve ever done. We will certainly be coming back again soon!!!

I have been to the Rock N’ Water facility many times… because it is so awesome there!
Each time I get up there it feels like I’m coming home. The people there are just so darn NICE!
If you have a group that you want to have an experience, adventure, or just bond with — the folks at RnW are the people to help you with this task. They are world class, top notch, and THE BEST at what they do!

First experience was my high school daughter’s senior trip — she valued the time with her classmates and the challenging adventures of canyoneering, rafting and sleeping under the stars. (Haha).
Second experience — Fabulous adventure with my son’s 4^th grade class. Staff were all so fun and organized and made the overnight gold rush trip a blast. We greatly enjoyed Rock-​N-​Water from start to finish.

Rock and Water is a fantastic place not only to have retreats but to have History come to life. I have taken my 3^rd and 4^th grade students on living history trips to Rock N Water and I have been blessed each and every time. They are professional, educational, safe, and so much fun. I like the spiritual aspect of the trip too. I look forward to taking my students every time.

had a blast here! our church high school group went here, and we had tons of fun going through the adventures that were provided! Craig, Colin, Whitney, Sarah, and Joe all provided great experiences for us, and never forgot to mention the Word and God’s ultimate purpose for us throughout our experience here. We got to rock climbing, with all the gear provided! They were very patient and taught all of the newbies how to go about rock climbing, and taught us to challenge ourselves as well. We also got to go rappelling, and hiked through the river through caves! such a great experience.
Furthermore, each individual staff member was very cheerful to serve us in any way they could, and were always up early and up late to meet our needs. Great team, great service, and great adventures. Praise the Lord for them and their hard work, and you should definitely give this place a shot!

This is my first time at Rock-​N-​Water but my youth pastor has gone many times now. At my church (Sierra Vista Community Church in Upland, CA) we have the traditional senior trip, where seniors and some college kids go up to Rock-​N-​Water for a week long trip of funyaking (white water kayaking) and canyoneering (hiking alongside/​in a river).
At the camp, everything is outdoors (beside restrooms of course), even the kitchen. Most people sleep under the stars. The food is absolutely delicious and there is always more than enough for everyone to get their share.
The guides are very knowledgeable and very quirky and fun-​loving. While white water kayaking can be very intimidating, they keep a very close eye on everyone and lead everyone as safely as possible down the rapid.
Next year I hope to come back. This place can not be beat!

I just finished my 8^th trip with Rock N Water, as usual they deliver an amazing experience for everyone and most importantly they point your perspective back to Christ. If you plan rafting any part of the American River, Rock N Water is the best company on the river!

What an amazing experience for our 4^th grader! The guides were entertaining, educational, and sincerely seemed to enjoy their job. The best part is how they pull God’s word into each lesson. We would highly recommend it!

My 5^th grader and I had the privilege of going on the 49er overnight with a group from our school. What an amazing immersion program. Kids were kept busy learning and experiencing the time of the Gold Rush with God’s word interjected to give perspective. There was a lot of activity and kids never had time to get bored. Definitely kept us all active and involved!

My daughter and I had a great time! The people running the event really go out of their way for you have a good time. The event is well planned out, but real difference is the genuineness of the people. This is something my daughter and I will always remember.

Experience you will never forget. We went here with my daughter Liberty — 4^th grader Field trip, Mission Hills Christian School. Their staff is awesome, they really take you back in the 1900’s. All activities are outdoors. They also teach the kids how important it is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Pretty amazing! The kids loved it. If you go make sure you bundled up when you go at spring and winter time.

Been a few years since I’ve gone out with them. But I’ve done 3 trips down the river and 2 hikes out Rubicon river with them.
One consistent thing I can say is… their staff is AWESOME! They are always there to make sure you have a good time! They are also very safe. So you are sure to have a great time and make it home alive.
I would suggest for anyone to go out with these guys!

My kids and I did the fourth grade history (49er) camp here and will never forget it!

Safe, fun, flexible, experienced staff and great value for the price! We’ve taken middle school and high school students snow shoeing and on several different rafting trips with these guys. My youth group raves about Rock-​n-​Water and loves excursions with them. Call them!

What a great camp! Awesome staff that truly care about the campers. Great adventures that will stretch your faith and help you appreciate the Creator. You will have tons of fun and learn new things about yourself.

Rock n’ Water is awesome! As a Youth Group, we’ve gone at least 6 years and are heading back this August for 4 days. Our group consists of junior high and high school teens. We’ve gone with groups as small at 6 and as large as 24.
The Rock n’ Water staff is amazing before the trip and during. Everyone is knowledgeable, polite and lots of fun. They motivate and inspire the teens (and adults!) to go outside their comfort zone. On our trips, they’ve worked through fears of heights, water and bugs as well as with youths with chronic asthma, ADHD and a broken arm.
Rock n’ Water is an amazing place to bring your teens and I highly recommend it.

Preface: I write this review as a former camper and as a guide of two summers (2006 & 2007) at RNW.
Rock-​n-​Water provides an experience you won’t get from any other rafting company on the American River. Why? Because RNW focus is on Jr. High & Sr. High youth experiencing creation in light of the Creator. If RNW was broken down into a couple core categories I’d describe it as follows:
Spiritual: The essence of why RNW exists. From the top level management to first year volunteers RNW focuses on love, both internally amongst staff & externally with campers. Because we were first loved by Christ, one of the main goals is to love the campers as best as possible. Each guide engages with youth differently and this allows the unique personalities of the staff to connect with the people there.
Whether it’s raging down a class-​III/​IV whitewater rapid, rock-​climbing, going on a creek hike that leads to underground waterfalls or hiking 2 miles to Ladybug Canyon (where you will see the most ladybugs in natural setting in your life) love is what staff tries to show the campers.
Physical: You will be physically challenged, especially the campers. In nature most campers are ‘out of their element’ and the challenges both campers and youth group leaders face can be tough. The best part of being a guide was encouraging campers to push their limits — I’ll never forget the faces of campers.
Safety: RNW has a great safety record & staff debrief every outing. Once I have kids I feel 100% confident that they would be safe under the care of RNW.
Food: Great, fantastic, I miss it (cowboy potatoes). Campers give all junk food/soda’s etc to staff at the beginning of the week & it is returned upon departure. The reason is RNW wants the best fuel positive entering the bodies of those at camp. With healthy, delicious food (smoked chicken, some of the best garlic bread) people perform better on the river & rocks than if they were full of cookies, candy, or soda.
Accommodations: Everyone sleeps in the outdoors. People can bring tents but most people sleep on a tarp & camping pad. The stars are beautiful at camp. When nature calls, the ‘Experience Chamber’ provides a private place to have your ‘experience’. I’ll leave it up to the guides to talk about the 1-​piece of toilet paper challenge.
That’s about all I can think of for the time being. During the summer I often find myself wondering what the people at RNW are up to, how many boats are going down the river & in general I miss it.
If you are a youth leader considering a camp for you group I give RNW 5 stars & 2 thumbs up!
P. S. I recommended RNW to grandparents living in Rocklin who wanted to get on the river with their kids. They loved it!
