Courtyard New Orleans Downtown Near the French Quarter

The headliners in my review are the AMAZING staff at this hotel! My husband is a platinum member and does a lot of traveling for business. As we’ve been to Marriotts throughout the U.S., we honestly feel this is one of the BEST and most hospitable group of employees we’ve ever encountered! From the young men who helped with our baggage and parked our car to the lovely young woman behind the counter, all of the individuals we encountered were warm and gracious and exceedingly helpful. The location of the hotel made all of our «must sees» an easy walk away and the nice little lounge area was perfect for a pre dinner cocktail or snack. Our only complaint was the foldout sofa bed was WAY past its prime and needed to be replaced. Again, the wonderful staff made this trip one to be remembered!

Stayed here with a buddy for the weekend (june 3 – 5) we had a late check-​in (9pm) but everything went smooth as can be. The staff was really friendly always with a smile on their face which is nice to see. Our room was a double bedroom it was clean and spacious we had a mini fridge that didn’t really cool that well but it’s o.k. we didn’t really use it. The room also came with a coffee maker and a LG flat screen t.v. this hotel is in a great location just a block from canal st and a few more from the French Quarter i will definitely stay here again when i come back to NOLA.

It was the hotel that was reserved for the wedding I was attending. It is modern and bright. My room was spacious and comfortable. My flight landed early and I arrived at the hotel much earlier than I expected. I appreciated the front desk finding me an open room so I could check in and put down my stuff immediately. Of course, the best aspect of this hotel is location, location, location. It is in a prime spot in the French Quarter with Canal Street at the end of the block and Bourbon Street a block away. Moreover, the St. Charles trolley line, to the Garden District, has a stop right outside of the hotel.

My mom and I stayed here just for one night. However it was our first time ever in New Orleans! We were pleasantly surprised when they upgraded our room for free because they ran out of the rooms we had booked. The lady at the front was very helpful and friendly. We ended up in a balcony room that was beautiful. The beds were very comfortable and the room was incredibly clean. Most importantly, we felt very safe. The French Quarter was a short walk away and the location was great. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott for 3 nights. The hotel was super clean and everyone that worked there was amazing! We had our 2 small daughters with us and this was a family friendly hotel where we could walk everywhere with them. One night when we came in they baked Otis Spunkmeyer cookies and gave them out to guests. Oh course our girls loved that! We had a balcony overlooking St. Charles that we loved sitting and people watching. I will add that because we had a balcony there was some noise at night. If you want complete quiet at night then I would not get a balcony. We expected this for New Orleans and didn’t mind that. The Trolley stop was right outside the hotel that we rode one day to the garden district. We walked everywhere else in the French Quarter. Definitely Recommend!

So I travel a lot for work and stay at Marriott hotels about 95% of the time. Every once in a while you find a Marriott that is more suited for partiers than business folk like me.
I was «upgraded» to a 2^nd floor balcony room that over looked St. Charles ave. This meant that out of the 4 nights I staid 3 of them were with people who were drinking and screaming on their balcony for most of the night. It also meant I had a prime location for the noisy street car that runs to midnight. An people blasting there radio so loud I can hear the lyrics in my room. Basically I had a very unpleasant time at this place.
So if your an underage drinker looking for a place to make everyone else miserable this is the place for you. On a business tip — strongly consider another location.
The room its was clean but paint was cracked and peeling off of the ceiling.

Great hotel — Great location especially for Mardi Gras. Wasn’t aware the parade would actually be on the street as hotel so valet parking wasn’t available and they don’t let you know when calling. So please be aware for Fat Tuesday self parking only. The staff was very pleasant was able to do early check in which was fast. The only major issue was parking and when brought up to «supervisor Lindsey» she was very rude. I was very displeased with how she handled the situation especially with me being a guest. She is not a good look for the front desk at all. Lindsey which she made sure I knew her name brings the value of the hotel all the way down and doesn’t have the ability to make any decisions or even try to fix a complaint/​situation. Customer Service first I guess she missed that memo. Justin in valet was the all time BEST from the time I walked in gave great information answered all questions. Thank you again. I would still recommend the hotel and come back and stay.

This is an amazing hotel! The service is the best I’ve had. I travel weekly and all the places I stayed this is my favorite! The staff is friendly, personable, and remembers you even if you only travel there once in a while. The location is great and easy accessible to the downtown and French quarter area. I’d highly recommend it to anyone.

Our stay during the week of Thanksgiving was wonderful, and the staff made the difference. Maybe it was due to the low vacancy during the holiday that they had time to chat with us or it was just their Southern etiquette, either way, I was not used to it. Thank you for your friendly hospitality!

Considering how much I paid per night for this hotel, I definitely expected a bit more.
The lobby area is VERY nice with tons and tons of seating. They also have a «market» for drinks and snacks but if you’re in NOLA, why are you using this anyway? My favorite part of the lobby was the boarding pass center. A computer and a printer that ONLY allow you to print your boarding pass (there is also a small business center for other computer-​related activities). This came in handy when we were drunk, at 1AM, and needed our passes for the next day. Anyway! Staff is hit or miss. They either have a bad attitude or are super friendly. The café area is overpriced and a waste, eat elsewhere.
My room was a handicap accessible room since that’s all that was available when I arrived to check-​in. The vanity area was HUGE and was helpful in doing my makeup for Halloween festivities. The bathroom was large but with a tub that is definitely not handicap accessible. The bed was large with a comfy mattress, however, due to the large bathroom/​vanity area, the bed area was small and cramped. Tons of outlets, though, which is always appreciated.
The people I went with had a «regular» room which came equipped with a fridge but a smaller bathroom. I don’t understand how one room gets a fridge and another does not. All I got was an ice bucket. Granted I had no use for a fridge during my stay BUT consistency is always nice. The shower got nice and hot but the lighting in the bathroom was incredibly dim. Plenty of towels, though.
The location is convenient if you want to explore the central business district, the quarter, or Frenchmen (please go to Frenchmen, especially if you are over 25 and know how to drink without being a jackass). The front desk will also hail you a cab, should you need one. The streetcar is right outside and a bunch of restaurants are also nearby. Overall, not a BAD hotel but definitely inconsistent.
As others have mentioned: ²⁄₃ of the rooms face the inside «courtyard» area. Meaning you will not see outside and you rely on the «sunlight» from what is shining into the courtyard. I hated this part of the hotel and do not understand why they bothered making it this way when you go to NOLA to be outside and LOOK outside.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Room was very clean (complimentary Paul Mitchell shampoo). They were doing some work in the room across for me, but I never heard anything. Bed is very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is near everything, French quarter, bus and trolley stops and Starbucks is right on the corner which was certainly a plus for me.
Parking may be difficult– but you don’t really need a car is you’re just staying in town.
All and all, it’s a great spot to lay your head after a day of checking out the city, which is what I used it for.

Really enjoyed the location! Few blocks from everything without being too close to the crazyness! Great customer service. I wasn’t able to do a late check out but they more than made up for this minor inconvenience.

I have only one complaint about this hotel and that is the parking to unload when you arrive. Maybe I am not experienced enough with driving and city hotels, but a doorman helping wave me in and find a spot to pull over when I arrived would have saved me 15 or so minutes looping the blocks because I couldn’t find a spot the first time around. The retrieval of my car the morning of checkout was easy and petty fast.
Overall, the hotel was nice. Room was what I expected for a Courtyard. The neighborhood looked okay, although the the night we stayed, a store window was broken into and clothing stolen from the store next door. Nothing like walking past police officers the next morning to remind you the world we live in. Very close to the French Quarter. A short walk (5mins) across Canal Street, and you are in the midst of the crazy downtown Bourbon Street. (Not recommended btw. Too much for my tastes, even on a Sunday night.)
I recommend going to Café Beignet down Royal Street for your breakfast instead of trekking to Café Du Monde several streets away.
Easy check in and check out, as you would expect from a Marriott.

Outstanding place and staff. We had a boil water alert when we stayed there. They made sure we had water to drink. They went room to room and gave us bottled water. The hotel location was great. Only 2 to 3 blocks away from Bourbon. I have a horrible iron in my room but that’s minor. I would definitely stay here again.

Booked a queen bedroom for 3 days and was disappointed to find a major damp floor leading from the bedroom to the bath area. I resolved it to the AC unit in the room.
I mainly had the unit set to heat however the floor got so wet that I ended up leaving it off for both nights. Yes, 2 nights because the hotel was full. I made a report to the front desk when I first discovered the issue.
I don’t recommend eating anything other than breakfast from this place since there are plenty of fine eateries in the nearby French Quarter.
Staff friendly enough but don’t expect too much.

Super clean hotel within walking distance to Bourbon Street, Café Du Monde and all the French Quarter festivities. Great location with coffee houses across the street and within a block. Quiet and clean. Loved it!

They deserve ZERO stars. Got in New Orleans at 2200 hoping to get some good sleep before going out the next day, and was told my reservation got cancelled because they sold it to other people due to «high occupancy» for higher rates! I have reserved the room for almost two weeks. They said they cannot charge my card on the day of and have been trying to contact me all day, yet, I did not even receive a voicemail or email stating that my card was denied. I have always been to Marriotts for vacations and have never been treated this way. I won’t be coming back and probably will never use Marriott again.
Good luck getting a room there especially if there is a big event in town. Make sure you enter your information correct and call ahead coz if you don’t u ll end up like me and my wife walking down busy streets of NOLA with luggage a trying to get another hotel. Luckily there are tons of them around there!

This was my first time in New Orleans and my boyfriend and I were there for a Convention. This is a great location to the French Quarters and central to most of New Orleans. I could easily walk to places which was a plus. The whole hotel staff is one of the most friendliest hotel staffs I have known. The front desk was GENUINELY charming, the bartender was fun, and even the housekeeping department was nice. We had a problem with the ironing board, and they came right away to fix it. The rooms can be small, but they equivalent to the sleeping rooms in New York. I would do an upgrade if I were traveling with girlfriends or a family. The standard sleeping room is good for one person or a couple.
Overall, great stay in New Orleans! I would definitely recommend!

We were supposed to stay in the Marriott hotel on Canal for a conference but the hotel block booked up ridiculously fast. My boss tried to book us in the secondary block at this Courtyard Marriott but that block filled up as well. That’s when the reservation people got saavy with my boss and ended up getting her a good deal by using her Marriott points and AAA rate so we ended up here. We were able to do early check in and the woman who checked us in had actually spoke with our boss the day prior when she called to confirm things and she recalled our names which was quite a surprise. After settling into our room which was rather nice the same woman offered up lunch suggestions. The room was clean and the shower was very nice. The hotel was a great location hopping on the red and green trolleys and I’d certainly recommend grabbing food from Serio’s across the street. I would certainly return.

This location was great for the New Orleans Jazz fest and is not too far from the Bourbon and shopping. Parking is easy and the door hosts are very helpful and friendly.
The check in was a nightmare as they had messed up our reservation, but it was easily fixed. We were staying for work though and got stuck in horrible inner rooms.
Had it been money from my pocket, i would have saved $ 50 and would have stayed at our avorites in the actual quarter and would have had better rooms, better views, and free authentic morning coffee.
The wall were thin. Avoid rooms 204 – 206 as they are right by the gym and very very loud.
