I will never be back. We made a reservation. Upon arrival, the hostess said it would be fifteen minutes. 30 minutes later, we were sat. It wasn’t too busy, but a very hurried woman came up to us, & barked«what do you want to drink». We gave her our order & she never re-appeared. We flagged down a new waitress & got drinks, eventually. We ordered an app that took forever, but, it was delicious so our hopes went slightly up(goat cheese dip, in case you’re planning on going to the worst restaurant in Louisville). When we received our meals, I was honestly disgusted when I saw my boyfriends burger. The onions looked old, the lettuce was wilted, the tomato looked disgusting. The burger looked miserable. He wanted condiments & I wanted another martini, but waitress número dos was nowhere to be found. We never saw her again for the rest of the time we were there. We had to flag down a THIRD server for condiments & our tab, because at this point, we just wanted to leave. Drinks are great, food was gross, we went through(basically) three servers in a two hour period, & with a reservation we still had to wait… In a restaurant that wasn’t busy.

Fantastic food; I recommend the fried brussel sprouts and the fish taco appetizers! Best fish tacos ever, and I eat them all over Louisville! Better than Bristol and El Mundo(who are 3rd and 2nd place). Only complaint is the music is so loud I can hardly hear my dinner companions.

Good location, cool atmosphere, sub par food. Good martinis and thy have deals on them as well as half price wine. Good girls night spot or date night.

Worst service I’ve ever had. So slow. The food was mediocre. The toppings for my burger were very unappealing. Oxidized onion, a floppy soggy wilted piece of lettuce, and the tiniest tomato slice ever. goat cheese was good

Had reservations for New Years EVe. I think they were very understaffed for the occasion. Got our appetizers wrong, entrees came out cold. Ended up there for over 2 hours for dinner. They did comp the issue items. Wine was great and still had half price special. Would go back for drinks but not dinner.

I’m not a martini fan, but I did not let that affect my rating. My drink of choice at 60 West is the Kentucky Manhattan. I get it on the rocks, and I am pleased that it seems very un-martini-like this way. Their manhattan is very tasty and the bourbon in it is plentiful. I could not stop at one… or two. I went on a Thursday and apparently that is $ 5 martini night for their non-premium martinis. Great deal! What brings the rating down is the food. I had the fish tacos. By no means were they the worst fish tacos I have ever had, but the batter on the fish was not crunchy and was bland. The fish was very fishy to the point I had fish breath for the rest of the night, but I am eating fish so that’s probably my fault. What is good on the fish tacos: the creamy chipotle slaw and the spicy(could be spicier) tartar sauce. My waiter did offer me sriracha, and I probably should have taken him up on the offer. At least they know they keep the spicy sauce on the mild side for the masses but immediately offer more spice if wanted. A warning to my fellow tomato haters out there(there are dozens of us): the fish tacos come with fresh chopped tomatoes, which is not mentioned on the menu. Be sure to use the line you know so well«no tomatoes, please.» My table mates seemed to enjoy watching me pick the tomatoes out of my tacos.

I’ve enjoyed this place a couple of times. Overall, I definitely recommend it. The good: there isn’t another place like it around in terms of fun and festive drinks. They’re sweet and delicious. I prefer«Hula Girl» and«Beowolf» but I’ve had 5 or 6 others and enjoyed them all. The ambiance is fun and energetic. The people are usually dressed nice. The décor is great and enhances the experience. The bad and ugly: service is not always great. If you’ve read other reviews you’ve probably picked up on this. I hadn’t experienced this until my most recent visit. I had made reservations but when I arrived there was no host or hostess by the door. There was also no «seat yourself» or «please wait» sign, so we weren’t sure what to do. After a few minutes of standing around, we just sat down somewhere. After a few minutes of waiting, I began to look around for a host/hostess(still, not by the door) or a waiter/waitress but couldn’t find any. Which I thought was odd. I’m sure they were in the back or something. But it added to my frustration, so I just went back to my seat. Eventually someone came by a few minutes later. But overall, the service was great for the rest of the evening. I still enjoyed my night. But I’m not sure why they would take reservations if no one is even by the door. And a simple sign by the door would help. You come here expecting class, and it’s disappointing when they don’t deliver.

I hadn’t dined at 60 West since my last review, so when I went recently, I thought I would share my thoughts after this visit. Drinks are still awesome. The $ 5 Martinis are mixed well and you don’t feel like you’re getting shortchanged despite the great deal. I tried a different Martini, Emerald City, than the one I had last time, Hula Girl, and would recommend them both to anyone going to 60 West. Food was also very tasty and there was a good deal of variety on what was on the menu. The outdoor seating was a pleasant way to enjoy the meal with the nice weather we have had this year. It wasn’t too loud despite the location on Shelbyville Rd and the fact that we were there during evening rush hour. Now to the stuff I was a little less than thrilled about. I dined there during happy hour, and everything I ordered was listed on the happy hour menu. Unfortunately, I was charged regular prices. When I asked about this, I was told that I would have needed to specify that I wanted the happy hour version of what I ordered, as the portion sizes are different. This was not made clear enough on the menu or by the server prior to when I placed my order. Some of the price differences were quite significant($ 6 – 7, times the 3 dishes that I ordered to share with my table). I didn’t have to make this specification on the martinis that I ordered from the same menu, and was really disappointed about this aspect of my visit.

I would definitely recommend this place for drinks and appetizers. I went here last night hoping for a nice date night with my boyfriend and was disappointed with the ambiance. Unfortunately it is just loud, so it was sometimes hard to hear. There was a bachelorette party near is and it made me think that this was the perfect place for that, or drinks before a nicer dinner. The martini a are fun, though they are all very, very sweet. We got the vegetable and goat cheese appetizer and it was decent. My fish tacos were disappointing, but my boyfriend loved his fish and chips. I liked that you could dress up me not feel awkward, though I would not suggest this place for the main dinner part of a date.

I love 60 West! Last night we went to have some drinks to celebrate my sister-in-laws upcoming wedding. 5 of us ladies had a corner table, the place had plenty of room, and plenty of drink options :) Tuesdays they had $ 5 martinis so we each had a couple of those and split a few appetizers. I have never ordered dinner but if the apps are any indication of what to expect in the entrees I would not be disspointed. Between the 5 of us — we each had 2 different martini’s and the tasting was passed around the table. I stuck with the rum based drinks, one friend chose the Jack Daniels peach special, another chose a straight dirty martini, and then another went for the vodka based. They have funny names, fabulous colors, and amazing tastes! I would reccomend that Taste of the Rainbow if you like lemon or the Dirty Martini with extra olives if you are a straight up kind of person! The staff was very friendly and kept us laughing all night. I was suprised by the emptiness of the place but I do know it gets more crowded on the weekends. Saturday nights are also $ 5 martini nights and Mondays and Wednesays have half priced bottle of wines. If you are looking for a ladies night, «book club», or gossip gettaway on a Saturday night — this is the place for you!

Decent place. A bit overpriced if you ask me and can get a bit loud if you’re trying to talk to people. Just had drinks, which were good, but nothing to write home about. I might be back, might not, but there are better places in St. Matthews.

Four stars for the drinks. Two stars for the food. Three stars overall. First the drinks: 60 West Bistro is the place to go in Louisville for martinis — and rightfully so considering there are close to 50 martinis on its menu. I’ve had several happy nights at 60 West, mostly with my fellow girlfriends, making our way through the martini list. And at about $ 7 each, having a few doesn’t break the bank. Some of my favorites include: + Shock Tart, made with Pinnacle Vodka, Blue Island Pucker, Strawberry Pucker, sour mix and pineapple juice. + Pirate Suicide, made with Bacardi Pineapple Fusion, Mango Fusion and coconut rum, melon liquor and sour mix.(This comes out bright green, looking radioactive and tastes great.) + Bellini Dancer, made with Pinnacle Vodka, peach schnapps, peach purée and champagne. + Cherry Limeade, made with Pinnacle Cherry Vodka, lime juice, grenadine and Sprite. Most of these martinis don’t taste heavily alcoholic, but just be warned: They can sneak up on you. And now for the food: There is some room for improvement in this department. The burger patties used in the hamburgers and in the 60 West Sliders have tasted overdone, flavorless. They were dry and dense and definitely need some spices. I’ve noticed this over a couple of visits. Some of the other dishes I’ve had have been hit or miss, though I will say the Margarita flatbread is decent. This is made with mozzarella, tomatoes, olive oil and basil and has balsamic vinegar drizzled over top, which really makes it. I also enjoyed the steamed edamame and the special dipping sauce it comes with. So the moral of this story: Dive in to the drinks and proceed cautiously with the food.

Really good food. Really good martinis. Really really loud. Wouldn’t go if you are trying to have an intimate conversation without having to yell. There was no music playing, just the everyone trying to talk over their neighbors. Would recommend for an early dinner or only for drinks in the evening. I went at 830pm for dinner.

A few friends and I went here for a birthday and it was my first time going. We just went for drinks, but ended up having quite a few appetizers since everything we ate was DELICIOUS! We went on New Years Eve Eve and there weren’t very many people around, but that was nice because we just sat ourselves. My first martini was the lemon blueberry something or other that I can’t remember right now. The server swore it would taste just like a lemon blueberry muffin, and amazingly enough it did! I’d totally get this drink again. My second drink was ginger flowers which was Makers and ginger ale with some sort of raspberry something in it. Not as delicious as the first, but still pretty tasty. So we ordered the 60 West Sliders which were the perfect thing to start off on. The pretzel bun was just right and they were the perfect size. Delicious sauce on them as well. We got two orders of edamame because it was so darn tasty! We also had two orders of their pizza dip because it was also delicious :) Some of the other girls had the crab cake sliders and the jalapeño meatballs, but I was just so full from all of the other food that I couldn’t eat anything else! The service was ok, semi attentive, but we were kind of ok with it because we wanted to talk a lot. Will FORSURE come back!

Don’t bother ordering food, orders mixed up, and my burger was raw and not medium, fish was soggy. Just come here for drinks which are very good.

I’m not sure what was going on with the plumbing, but I do hope they get it fixed as it surely didn’t lend to a nice smell. We almost walked out because of it. I actually think that was why it was so empty. Anyhow, this was the last stop before heading back home and we already had some drinks in us. This place is pretty unique in that they specialize in martinis, hence their name. What sets them apart is they offer $ 5 martini specials and it was my lucky night because it was a French Silk Pie martini and it was YUUUUUUUMMMEEE!!! All parties involved ordered something different but mine was the best! :) This place has a very casual«bar next-door» feel. You know, the local watering hole. There was a dart board on the wall, the seats are the kind you find at Red Robbin, or some other«fast» chain setting. Not a place to take that first date for a nice impression, but surely a spot to go to when the buddies or gal-pals want to keep it casual and fun!

I ffinally went after a friend told me about her great experiences(and the great drinks) at 60 West. We went on a $ 5 martini night. There are so many options, I have got to go back to try more. Kentucky Peach and Taste the Rainbow were both delicious. I also had a salmon burger and sweet potato fries(one of my weaknesses in life). The food was good too! I had no problems with the service as a few others detailed, though it was a pretty slow Thursday when we went. The interior and décor are charming as well. It’s the the type of place I will definitely encourage friends to visit, especially if they’re into trying new drinks.

My first time here was for a bachelorette party a year ago. I’ve been back many a time since and without fail, there always seems to be a bachelorette party going on. A testament to the fact that this is a perfect stop for a ladies night. The 60 in their name refers to their list of 60 + martinis. I haven’t loved every single one I’ve had, but I do absolutely love Taste the Rainbow and the Sunday Bloody Sunday. No joke, I seriously find myself daydreaming about the Taste the Rainbow on random occasions. It’s my sweet tooth, not the alcohol that I crave :) If I did have a drinking problem, $ 5 martinis on special during various hours of the week and practically all day/night Thursday and Saturday would be quite the enabler. Service has been speedy and helpful every time I’ve been, but it does tend to get really crowded and slightly claustrophobic with people standing around the bar on Saturday nights.

I came to Louisville for the 2011 Kentucky Derby. I took my mom — mother’s day weekend — and we ended up coming to 60 West twice. I can’t tell if it was because the place was so good or because I couldn’t really find anything good around the city, otherwise. Either way, it was a good place for a martini and the meals were pretty good, too. Nothing too amazing, to be honest, though I liked it enough. On the day before the derby, our bill came to $ 88.88 — not only that, but I ordered a martini called the Flux Capacitor. Really! I took it as a sign from the Almighty and I bet $ 80 on the #8 horse in the derby the next day. And you know what? I lost.

The food I have gotten here has been pretty delicious. And the martinis are great. I am happy with their martini happy hours. The reason this has only 3 stars is the service I experienced when I was there a couple times was pretty subpar. I’ll go back for martini specials, and maybe even the food… but I’ll have to find a good time to go when they can pay attention to their patrons.
