This place definitely goes above and beyond for their customers in every way. My finances bike got stolen last week, and we had plans to go riding downtown for 4th of July celebrations. I called Bardstown Bikes to see about a rental, and even though they were about to close, Desiree(employee working at the time) told us to come on up and had a fantastic bike waiting for us upon arrival. Desiree also had more knowledge about the biking industry than anyone I’ve ever met and provided us with tons of guidance on the best lock to get for preventing theft. Definitely recommended!

The shop owner refused to even look at a used bike for trade. He was short and patronizing with me. I took my business to Parkside who set me up with a sweet Bianchi and accepted my trade without being a jerk in the process. One positive interaction here was with another staff member when I bought a lock. She was nice and didn’t act like I was a waste of her time like the owner did. Also the prices here are exorbitant compared to other shops in town.

Got back into riding again after losing 110 pounds! Bought my bike here got a great deal and they fit it in my budget! Since then I bent cog in the cassette I’m sure it was my fault some how lol although it wasn’t part of the warranty they fixed it anyway! Super knowledgeable fixed my bike in about an hour. Their customer service is awesome. No complaints about this place at all. I won’t go anywhere…

We had such an amazing experience at Bardstown Road Bicycle Shop! We loved the atmosphere(Mom and Pop-Type Shop) with individualized attention. We bought our first road bikes here to crate to Africa. Customer service was exceptional! Our bikes were ordered, delivered, built and then broken down and put back into boxes within 10 days. They also helped accessorize with helmets, pump and extra tubes. We will always shop here!

Went in for some minor maintenance and mentioned my handlebars were a bit out of whack. They ended up taking the handlebars off and finding that they were incorrectly put together back in San Francisco. Possible life saver. Anyhow, I’ve been in a couple of times and they’re really friendly, fast and have good prices. Will continue to go there.

Friendly staff, cool selection of old old vintage bikes. Wish I could find an affordable Penny Farthing… If I lived in Louisville I would buy at least one bike here.(I like their selection of Raleigh road bikes in particular).

The Skinny: Open until 5p most days Have used bikes for sale outside most days Very friendly staff I’m definitely a new bicyclist. I have a low budget and I know close to nothing(except how to ride a bike) about stuff I need. I went into Bardstown Rd. Bicycles clueless and the woman in there(I cant remember her name but she’s awesome! Long hair septum piercing) answered every question I had and steered me in the right direction. I like to trail ride and she showed me their diamondback mountain bikes and helped select what size frame I’d need. She was very nice and offered personal experience on riding. They even held the bike and let me make payments over the winter! I’m so happy that there are businesses left that still have faith in their customers and understand the working woman’s wallet. I will definitely be back here for anything else I need!

Let me give you a feel good story of the day. So here I am, I just bought my very first bike.(Excluding the pink Huffy, that I adored in my youth.) And I’m beside myself with excitement… so much so that the very next day I seek out a helmet(thank you Safety School!) Anyways, so I hit up the bike stores in the neighborhood. I know that I only have a little bit of time because they all close super early. Bardstown Bicycle was on the list. By the time I got there, they were closed. Now I’m just staring through the windows, willing them to open, so that I could buy my helmet. Out of nowhere, this little man shows up and opens the door for me! He asks what I needed and upon telling him, he brings me inside. He shows me all of the helmets and I try on one. Like Cinderella, it was a perfect fit. He rang me out(so gracious, since they had already closed out the register!) and I left, a very happy to-be cyclist. Since then, I haven’t had a need to head back to this store. But my only complaint would be that I wish they were open later.
