I’m downgrading it to 4 stars because some of the items seem more expensive than when it was first open. But still a cool store to check out!

I like me a bargain. I went searching for it in Ben’s Bargain Barn today. Here is what I found today. Everything’s price will be slashed by 50−90% at the checkout. But even at that, I was wondering who wants to buy poofy-sleeved, sequinsed, stained pink wedding dresses at $ 50 a pop… Stay away from the«Health and Beauty» aisles: Not only do the products not look healthy or beautiful, they are also priced higher than their current condition can command. I could find better(and cleaner) deals at the local drugstore with a coupon. I seriously thought I needed to put on some of those latex gloves being sold in big boxes. I did find a couple pairs of good quality black pants for a bargain price of $ 7 and $ 7.50. And they fit me perfectly! It was a leap of faith on my part since I did not see a fitting room anywhere. The clothing racks were in good order and organized. I did not have to dig very hard to find the pants. In fact, there were quite a few pairs of the same pants in different sizes, a rarity in a bargain barn. The furniture: meh. I’ve seen much better stuff at Bargains and Buyouts in Cincinnati. Will I be back? Maybe if I can’t get enough of those pants.

Most know Ben’s Bargain Barn for its last tenants, the infamous Unique Thrift Store. BBB is NOT a thrift store, but rather a home to bargains. What you might find here: appliances, furniture, clothing, toys, books, packaged food, body products. Again this is NOT a thrift store, everything is new. Some of the goods, such as body care and toy packaging looked a little damaged, which is probably why some of those items were inexpensive. Many of the products for sale were of low quality. I had to wonder how long some of the furniture would last. Everything in the store is 50−80% off. It seemed that the original price tags on everything were extremely overpriced in order to have«bargain» discount prices. On the plus side, the employees were sweet, friendly, and eager to help.

Awful. This place was the best when it was a thrift store. Now its just a bunch of overpriced leftovers and rejects from big box stores. They lead you in under the guise that«everything is 50% off!» and then you realize that the original prices are way high, bringing the sale price to what you would pay for it at a regular store. For example, there was a cute mason jar style drink dispenser that I was interested in for my wedding. It was two gallons, marked $ 79.99, with a half off sticker. Well, $ 40 is what it costs to buy at Walmart or Target, so that’s not a deal at all. Their washers and dryers are sold separately and marked 50% off as well, but their original prices are around $ 1000 so you might as well just go to Home Depot and get a new set for the exact same amount of money. I’m very disappointed and would love for this to become an actual thrift store again.
