I followed my favorite stylist here. It is a very busy, happening place. I liked the bustle of the salon.

When I moved to Louisville on February I was overwhelmed trying to find a salon to trust with my long curly hair. I went to Blades when my coworker(who has gorgeous hair) told me about Blades and Leanna. The first time I went, I got the deep conditioning treatment and a hair cut. Services were very reasonably priced, and Leanna did an amazing job on my hair. I’ve been back several times, and I’m not disappointed. Leanna definitely knows her stuff, and is very talented. I highly recommend her at Blades.

I’ve lived in Cincinnati for five years and I STILL go «home» to Louisville to get my hair done. I just haven’t been able to find a salon in Cincinnati that does as good of a job as Sam(antha) at Blades! She is meticulous, does exactly what I ask, and consistently does a great job on my hair. On top of it, she’s super sweet and always so cheerful and positive! The place is always buzzing so I can only assume that the other stylists are just as talented. I recently had a trial run for my wedding hair with another stylist at Blades, Sarah, and she did an awesome job! If you’re looking for a salon in the Louisville area, I highly recommend Blades.

Amber is my stylist and she’s excellent. She always listens to how I want my hair colored and/or cut and gives her professional opinion, which I respect(as she is the expert). I’ve always been pleased with the service I’ve received and Amber does a FANTASTIC job styling my hair. My only complaint would be with the receptionists. At times I’ve found them to be very rude, arrogant, and not accommodating. Sometimes I’ve called to make an appointment and it’s been a very easy process, other times the receptionist acts like she’s never booked an appointment before in her life. Over-all, I highly recommend Amber. You won’t be disappointed!

Great service, always accommodating and flexible. Oh and they are Louisville’s premier hair coloring salon(my wife is a huge fan too!). I’m partial to Kate Mann!

VERY frustrated. Not usually how I feel when I get my hair done @ Blades. A stylist named Samantha was assigned to me and I requested to go very all over blonde from my auburn and specifically told her I did not want to keep my red and just add blonde highlight, but she did it anyway, leaving the entire bottom half of my hair untouched, so now I have«heavy highlights» on the top half(which I had anyway), and my old faded color on the bottom(from top of my ear, down). She did do a decent cut and took off what she felt was necessary to keep it healthy looking(2″), but in the end her repeated suggestions that I come back in for«several«sessions to get the look I wanted when she didn’t even touch half of my hair felt like an excuse to get more money. I won’t be back and will complete my hair with a stylist who listens to what I want and not what THEY want to give me.

Nice salon for the Louisville area. Got a great cut from Rachel! She even fixed my bangs for FREE! Even though I had gone to another salon! Amazing staff, very friendly. Good amount of retail to choose from as well. Only gave 4 stars cause they are a bit on the pricey side. But overall a great salon. Highly recommend.

I recently moved to louisville and Blades was recommended to me by a coworker. When I called, I thought it was a little odd that they priced their haircuts by the number of years stylists have been working. So if you want a great haircut, you have to be the snob and pay extra for it. How demeaning. Regardless, I was very serious about asking for someone who could cut thick hair into a longer bob. I have issues with haircuts every time I try to get them. I have been growing my hair for 6 months, and getting married in 5. I asked for the tiniest of trims. When Katie cut my bangs, I asked that they not go farther back, and she responded by telling me that I have«mom bangs» that need to be cut. She cut them anyway, and they are disastrous. They are almost all the way back to the crown of my head… On one side. Meaning, they are totally uneven as well. I have years of growing out and bobby pins ahead of me. Now for my hair. She cut it wet, after the two minute shampoo that was less than desired. Sorry, if I’m going to pay you to wash my hair, you should probably actually get shampoo in all of it. The hair cut itself took about 6 minutes. She said she would go back and style after it was dry, but never did. It was so uneven… one side longer than the other, one side straight, one angled. It looked like a 5 year old cut it. I’m not joking. If there was a place for photos, I’d post them. I plan on taking photos and sending them in. I know it won’t help my hair, but but it will at least let someone know that they need to pay more attention to what they are doing. I called the owner and he was happy to help. He saw all of her errors and fixed what he could. The best part: when I walked in, katie saw me, and as I went back to get my hair fixed, her friend scurried behind us and conveniently smoked a cigarette right out the window behind us. Classy, and childish. I know people think that this is an «upscale» place, but just because you’re in at. Matthews doesn’t mean you are upscale. The last thing I would call an establishment filled with smokers and poorly trained stylists is upscale. Thanks for ruining my hair. And my wedding pictures. Xo

Nice upscale salon. I’m working in town and had this place recommended to me. Ashley did a great job! I hadn’t had a hair cut in 2 months(usually it’s every 3 – 4 weeks). She had never cut my hair before, but after asking a few questions, she went to work. She asked my opinion on a few things, and it turned out great. Plenty of men’s salon can cut men’s hair IF it’s just a buzz cut. The beer and ESPN on the TV’s make up for their other short comings. Guys with real haircuts, need to find a real salon, and this is one. Also, the women that were coming out, looked great, too.

I recently went to Blades for a color and cut appointment. My stylist, Amber, was great. She tries to give me the style and color I ask for, and is very nice and polite. The other stylists and front desk employees are definitely lacking in professionalism. I scheduled my appointment for a Wednesday at 4 pm. This was the latest appointment Amber takes during the week because the salon closes at 6. I arrived at 4:02 and promptly got started. She applied my color first and I processed for 15 minutes. My hair usually takes 30 – 45 minutes to process, so I’m hoping the color doesn’t fade too quickly. After my shampoo, we went to her station to get started with the cut. During my cut, at least 4 other stylists came by to check her progress with me and let her know they were going to go. I felt very uncomfortable and rushed for keeping her past 5 pm. She completed my hair cut and style at 6:10. I was walked to the front desk where two employees were«working.» I had to wait for one to complete her credit card receipt count. She gave me my total, without asking how everything was or if I was happy or even saying hello, and I handed her my credit card. She looked at it and then started to write down my card information. Apparently, they close out their credit card machine promptly at 6 pm, regardless of whether or not there are still customers in the salon. After she copied down my information,(which I was very uncomfortable with), she got a sneezing fit. My card was in one hand and the credit card slip was in the other. She held both hands up to her chest and sneezed on both the card and receipt multiple times. I could tell because I watched her shirt move with each sneeze. My card and slip were between her mouth and her shirt. She then handed me both without an apology for getting germs all over them and told me to sign. I asked when this would go through and she said tomorrow morning. I signed and handed her the receipt. She looked at the receipt and yelled over to my stylist that she would have a tip of … waiting for her tomorrow. She tore off my copy and said«bye.» Not one time did she say thank you or ask if I would like to reschedule. I left there feeling like a burden and very dissatisfied with the entire experience. I walked out of the salon at 6:15, 15 minutes past their closing time. Amber was great, but the service I received from the other staff was poor to say the least. I will not go back.
