I’m on deadline to file a utility patent because I’ve already filed a provisional patent. This lawyer asked me to send everything to her, so I did. Then she asked for more specific stuff to be emailed out to her and I did that too and I didn’t hear back from her. I then followed up with a phone call and she returned it a few days later. She then says that her email has been screwed up and she never received the second set of emails that I sent to her so I sent them to her while I was on the phone with her. At this point she then tells me that I’d be better off finding a lawyer locally because she’d prefer not to do business long-distance via phone and email. in essence she just wasted an entire month asking for follow-up paperwork, only to say I should find someone locally. Excuse me?! Why didn’t you just tell me that a month ago when I first contacted you? Instead you waste a month of my time. I originally reached out to her April 22nd. My deadline for filing paperwork is June 6th and she tells me on May 12th that I should find someone else. Thanks for nothing Resa! Now it’s going to be even harder to find a lawyer because they now have the additional pressure of a last minute filing. And if you had told me you didn’t want to work long-distance in the beginning I would have had a lot more time to find a decent lawyer. I wouldn’t recommend this lawyer to anyone, regardless of where you live, because this was a totally unprofessional move.
