Ice cream was great on our visit here however, something needs to be said about the«help.» This is a review from a visit last fall when the weather was still warm. Yes, I’m a bit late in finishing it. Our servers were completely indifferent to their jobs and their surroundings. The trash cans were dirty and full, overflowing and spilling onto the floor. The tables were dirty and not being cleaned after the clients left. They were not extremely busy– they had time to tend to these things. Granted, they did a great job on the product– the ice cream. We wanted to sit down and enjoy it in a clean environment and were completely off put by the dirty environment. Really, who wants to eat food in a dirty restaurant?

Some of the best ice cream and my favorite frozen treat spot in this area. I had the coffee ice cream, I think it was the Mud Mojo something? Anyways it was great, a favorite of my with the caffeine like pick me up in ice cream form. This time around there was no line but you should expect you considering now good these creations are. The price is a bit on the higher side but your probably paying for the mixing and singing service… if you tip!

Cold Stone is more of a «mix-in» ice cream shop. Sure, you can get a plain old scoop of ice cream, but all of their menu choices are creations with mix-ins, like cookies, candies, syrups, etc. The ice creams are used as a base for the mix-in concoctions, and are therefore more on the plain/generic side(i.e. French vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cheesecake). Most of their specialty creations contain some form of chocolate: chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, fudge, brownies, chocolate cookies. I like chocolate okay, but I usually prefer something without. I decided on the seasonal flavor, which was pumpkin ice cream, graham cracker crumbs, caramel, and whipped topping mixed in. Pretty tasty. Honestly, this type of ice cream just isn’t my cup of tea. It’s basically a Blizzard, which I’ve never been a fan of either. After they work all the toppings into the ice cream, it’s on the softer/soupier side. I prefer my ice cream to be thick and creamy. Still, it’s ice cream. It tastes good. It just wouldn’t be my first choice. I think the Comfy Cow has spoiled us all, because I’m just not impressed with anything less than bourbon ice cream anymore.

I’m convinced Cold Stone has the best ice cream in town as far as quality is concerned. It’s made fresh in the store, from what I understand. It doesn’t come from prepackaged pints. If you want a pint, they scoop it out for you and package it up. «Scooping» is done with metal spatulas which is pretty incredible to watch. They cut and fold the mixings in which can be anything from Oreos to gummy bears. They also sell ice cream cakes and cupcakes and a selection of house made chocolates — which appears to be a new offering. I personally love their coffee ice cream but the best ice cream they have by far(in my opinion) is the banana ice cream. It doesn’t taste like fake banana flavoring; this stuff tastes like real banana and it’s absolutely fabulous. My favorite mix? Banana and Oreo. Get it in a milkshake and you’ll have the best milkshake you’ve ever tasted, I guarantee.

Some of the BEST Ice cream I’ve ever had. The workers are nice and prompt. I have yet to taste better ice cream although I’m sure it’s out there somewhere.

I love the cake batter shake! It’s a bit thick but soooo yummy! Not sure if I can bring myself to order anything else. The establishment is clean and the staff is friendly so the price is worth it.

My youngest son is weird. Blue cotton candy ice cream with a crushed Butterfinger? Apparently, it’s a delicacy. But I promised him an ice cream and I didn’t specify the flavor, so I suppose I can’t criticize. Well, actually, I can. It’s what I do. At least I can count on the oldest being far more traditional, as in vanilla with a Heath bar. More my style and it doesn’t look like some alien gruel. Service from the gaggle of high school girls behind the counter was attentive and friendly and I admired their diligence in crushing candy bars into little bits by hand. High school boys, be warned, if they do that to candy bars I’m sure they can do the same to hearts. I have a feeling my kids would excel at this job, except more product would make into their mouths versus the customers’. And by mouths, I mean in relative proximity to that large hole on each of their faces. Next time, more napkins, sigh…

To quote my husband, «This place has super soft toilet paper, and I think it should make the review.» Also, this is a very clean, typical, Cold Stone Creamery. Bonus: It is right next door to a Half Price Books. Make a date of it. TIP: go to their website and sign up for the birthday email. You’ll get a free«like it» with 1 topping when it comes around.
