Super disappointed! I called my order in at 12:33pm, I was told it would be 25 – 35 minutes. It’s 1:42pm, my daughter is still inside waiting. It’s times like this that paying for bread, ketchup, etc., is the straw that breaks the camel’s back. I called, Aaron, Co-Owner, was fantastic in his response. I’m mlre disappointed that along with the wait, the food had some hiccups, too. I love this place, appreciate Aaron’s attentive listening and look forward to going back and receiving the same great service and food that we usually do.

Bar none this is the most amazing food I’ve ever had the pleasure to eat. DIVINE. A religious experience. Nothing is bad… Everything on the menu is delicious. The breaded mushrooms taste like real mushrooms. Fried green tomatoes… I DIE. The fried chicken… Will make you weep with joy.

The food is worth it all. The set up inside is a little different inside. The prices are super cheap and you get alot of food. True Southern Soul food. I ordered the fried shrimp meal and my husband ordered the 2 piece chicken dinner. Everything was great. The only downside was the wait for our food. The server was cool and friendly. Oh also just a heads up you will get a can soda and bottled water. Caught me off guard but it works. We will be coming back for sure.

Stopped by chance on our way back to Michigan. Best service and food so glad we stopped. Family run business glad to support their efforts!

This is a new hidden gem. The name is confusing but it is a cute little family owned restaurant that serves the best fried chicken. The sides are also great from hash brown casserole — broccoli cheese casserole to the greens so you definitely need to call ahead because the wait for fresh fried chicken is 15 minutes. We eat there and take out from there at least twice a month. Have yet to be disappointed.

Honestly, this could be my shortest review ever since I can sum it all up by saying that Dasha Barbours is… DABOMB… period. Of course, that wouldn’t allow you as a reader to virtually experience the deliciousness of this fine establishment. I first heard about this place through a friend of mine at work, who visited Dasha’s recently. Little did I know, this place is not far from me at all, and I’ve passed it up several times on one of my runs or by way of car. It’s a hidden gem at the end of a building with no fancy signage, and by the name, I didn’t think it was a Soul food joint. What a great surprise to my boyfriend and I when we had dinner there last night After reading other reviews on some of the food, we decided to get the fried zucchini to start. Flavor-wise…EXCELLENT! They use a cornmeal batter that they probably use on their fried green tomatoes, which was very crispy and tasty. They were a bit soggy, but that’s understandable since it is zucchini. I’d still order them again. For our entrées, we both ordered two piece chicken dinners with two sides a piece. We both ordered broccoli and cheese casserole. I also had hashbrown casserole(best I’ve ever had), and he ordered sweet potato casserole. All the sides were better than expected; very flavorful, savory, and exactly what I think of when I’m eating down home Southern cooking. Lastly, the fried chicken did not disappoint… at all! Crispy and flavorful with succulent, juicy meat that would satisfy palettes of even the best critics. We washed all this down with a glass of their sweet tea, and we were utterly satisfied. In all, I can’t wait to go back

Great fried chicken and pork chops, collardd, mac and cheese. Hard to find. Address says Bardstown rd but entrance and signage on side street. Worth the trip.

This place was absolutely delicious! I had the collard greens, Mac n cheese, hash brown casserole and the corn bread. Apart from the food, the service was incredible. The owner came out and introduced himself and his family that works at the restaurant. We will DEFINITELY be going back.

The food here is amazing. It’s made with love. I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken with the broccoli casserole and sweet potato pie as my sides. The chicken was juicy in the inside crispy and well seasoned on the outside. The broccoli casserole was flavorful while the sweet potato pie was delish! This is a small family run restaurant, the servers were attentive.

I don’t have enough good things to say about this place. The fried chicken is the best in town. The collard greens are amazing. Be prepared to wait, as the chicken is cooked to order. The wings are breaded, and I would recommend getting them bare or maybe with sauce on the side. The prices are almost in fast food territory, which is amazing considering the quality. Make the trip to Hikes Point if you don’t live in the area. It’s worth it.

Ok, fried chicken is as contentious as pizza. Everyone has a favorite and your favorite is just wrong. I’ve been to this mom and pop place twice and I am ready to say that the fried chicken I had here was the best I’ve ever eaten. Perfectly fried, perfectly seasoned, juicy and not greasy. I think they are brining, I don’t know for sure but this chicken was perfectly salty and fried in clean oil. The sides were awesome as well. How about broccoli cheese casserole and collards? How about two piece dark with two sides for $ 7.40? This is as local as it gets. Please support this place. I want to eat this chicken once a month. That won’t keep them in business so I need my fellow Unilocalers to help out. Eat local, eat well!

After seeing the reviews, decided to try this place out. Upon entering, it was the least welcoming restaurant that I had ever been in. No employees around, no talking, several tables with customers, but no one breaking the deafening silence. That, and there was an out-of-place lounge in back. We left, and went elsewhere.

BESTFRIEDCHICKENINLOUISVILLE, and I have been searching for a long time. Unilocal led us here, but pulling up I had serious doubts. Outside is a little scary and not impressive, inside its actually a nice little restaurant. Sure it could be a whole lot nicer, but when it comes down to it I am coming here for the food. Very friendly staff, simple menu but we still had a hard time deciding… so we got everything that looked good. The only thing that disappointed were the fried green tomatoes but to be fair we got the food to go. I would try them again if we dined in. The fried chicken is why we came here and it actually exceeded expectations. Not greasy, just crispy enough on the outside, well flavored and moist meat on the inside. Some places may get one or the other right but seldom do they get both spot on. Sides were all good as well and we tried a bunch. It was like your favorite casseroles from the holidays cooked just the way you like them. Sweet potato, hash brown, broccoli all were perfect in the flavor dept. Could look better but honestly I didn’t care because they tasted so good. They are destined to move to the heart of a busy restaurant area like St Matthews or Highlands with a much bigger operation. I have a feeling they would do very very well, but for now as long as they keep making the fried chicken I will be headed over to this part of town more often. Second trip back was dine-in and it was even better than the first. Rarely does a place meet high expectations after a good first visit, but they have a good thing going here. Sitting there waiting for perfection, I did notice how some people may be turned off by the appearance and upkeep. Get over it, it’s totally worth it. We had a very filling meal this time with leftovers for $ 20. The night before we visited a new diner in town, it was ok, but it was $ 40+ and I doubt I would be craving to go back. If you are making a list of Must Try Places to Eat, make sure you go out of your comfort zone and try this place.

Upon a recommendation from a coworker, my boyfriend and I headed to Dasha Barbour after work this past week to enjoy some southern cuisine. It was better than we expected. While I will admit to rarely venturing into the Buechel area, I’m glad I did for Dasha. My boyfriend ordered a 2 piece fried chicken dinner with mac n cheese and broccoli casserole. His fried chicken was divine. It wasn’t very greasy on the outside, but was very moist and tender on the inside. Plus, there was a lot of good meat on each piece. Both of his sides were pretty good. I had the pork chop and waffles with a side of sweet potato casserole. The pork chop was so, so delicious. I love getting chicken and waffles whenever I can, but I think chop and waffles is going to be my new favorite. The casserole was really good too. Also, the sweet tea was perfect — super strong and super sweet, which is exactly how I like it. I will definitely be returning in the near future!

So glad Unilocal reviews led me to this place. I came here just after flying in from Dallas. Thanks for heads up on home cooked slowness — totally worth it. Greens were flavorful but not greasy. Fried chicken reminded me of the epic chicken my great aunt used to make. So much food — took a box back to hotel. Owners were friendly and very appreciative of my business. Really made me feel welcome. Sweet tea heaven –I’m strictly unsweetened tea at home but had to go completely southern here. May be coming back this week to try some other items.

Sigh. There are times when I’d just as soon not write a review. Particularly when it comes to locally-owned, family businesses, but the experience I had at Dasha’s was simply poor. I had been here once before for lunch(which was good), but not for dinner, and I understood the type of food I would get, even was prepared to wait a bit knowing it would be home-cooked and fresh, but this was beyond what was necessary. Popping in on a Friday night with my boys around 6pm, Dasha’s was maybe 1⁄3 full with 3 – 4 tables and 2 people on wait staff. We seated ourselves, and the young girl, a cousin of the family I believe, took our drink order and not long after, took our food order. I could tell by the looks on the other customers’ faces that the food was taking an unusual amount of time to be served but I decided to wait it out. That wait was nearly an hour. And knowing exactly how long it takes to prepare a couple fried pork chops and some chicken, that was about 40 minutes too long. And what arrived was over-cooked by about 10 – 15 minutes. And that’s just wrong. You can’t be this purveyor of perfect fried chicken if you don’t know how long to fry chicken. While we sat, I saw one table return the majority of their food due to poor quality, and another gentleman leave after ordering because he couldn’t wait any longer, it was just poorly managed all the way around. And while portion size is large, I won’t be back to pay $ 10 a plate for overcooked food. And one other thing, it’s 6pm on an early Friday evening, turn the music down. If the soft-spoken young waitress has to have you repeat your order several times because she can’t hear you, then it’s just too loud.

My wife and I wanted to find a local joint serving authentic local food. Well, we were not disappointed at Dasha’s. We started with an appetizer of deep fried mushrooms served with a jalapeño mayo dip. They were excellent. The owner warned us that the dip may be hot, but we are hot fans and for us it was tasty, but not at all hot. The wife had fried chicken with sweet potato casserole and collard greens. Seriously the chicken was moist and perfectly cooked, the spc was amazing and the collard greens were probably the best she ever had! I had chicken and waffles. Chicken was as described above; juicy, moist and perfectly done. The waffles were from scratch and yummy. The syrup was not pure maple, but a good option for whatever brand was used. The owner checked on us regularly to make sure we were set. A very sweet guy and obviously cares about customer satisfaction in food and service. The only down side was it is hard to find when coming across the intersection from the other side. The restaurant is in a little strip mall kind go building and we drove back and forth 3 or 4 times before finding it. As atmosphere is concerned, it is plain jane to be sure. But, I’d much rather have a caring owner serving excellent food then a beautiful restaurant lacking in those. Thanks for sharing your passion!

Dasha offers a small menu of southern comfort food and a big dose of southern hospitality. The young couple serves food they grow up eating in the country. You can expect to see fried chicken dinner w/2 sides(starting at $ 6.99), salmon croquets($ 9.90), chicken and waffles($ 8.50), chop and waff($ 8.50), burger and fries($ 8.80), and a few other dishes. I love the pork chop, it was a thick cut and juicy. The batter for the chicken is thicker than what I normal like, but it was crunchy on the outside and very juicy and tender. The burger was very good as well and complimented by delicious thick cut fries. My dinner mates raved about the cheesy hash brown casserole and mac & cheese. I didn’t like the batter on my corn but the corn itself is more chewier than other places(I like this type of corn better). Can drinks and bottled water are $ 1/each but go for the homemade ice tea($ 1.99) with free refills. Delicious and refreshing! It’s a friendly mom and pop kind of place(a young mom and pop :). They close at 8 p.m. every day.
