So I called them on a Wednesday asking for an appointment on Thursday. The lady over the phone said pick a time because they’re free all day. That should have been a red flag right there. I came here anyways because it was close to my place. When I lived in California, I used to get mani pedi at this small local shop for $ 25. Cheap. This place charged $ 38 for mani pedi. They sat me down on this big massage chair pedicure thing. It was pretty cool. So before they started, they asked me if I wanted Shellac. I said sure. Didn’t know how much it was gonna cost. My mistake for not asking. So the whole process was pretty good. Except they didn’t really give me a massage. It was just like a quick rub. The person did a pretty good job doing the french tip though. Then this other person came out to do my Shellac manicure. The whole process kinda sucked. The guy doing my manicure cut too much of my cuticles or something, omg… when they were using the acetone to correct the french tip, my cuticles were BURNING. I told him it hurts, he’s like why, and I said the acetone is burning. he didn’t say anything. Well at this point, it was like point of no return. So when I had to put my hand under the UV light, the fingernails were burning too. WEIRD. he said it burns for some and doesn’t for others. basically telling me to suck it up. The person put some lotion on me at the end. No massage. I’m sorry. but when I get a mani pedi, I expect some hand and foot massage. Doesn’t have to be like an hour long massage, but at least couple minutes??? The massages I got here were like literally 10 seconds. Anyways. They did a decent job on the manicure and pedicure, but it has only been 2 days and the manicure is chipping. I paid $ 60 for french tip mani pedi… i expect for these to last me 2 weeks. Obviously it is not. If you’re coming here, stick with the regular mani pedi. Don’t get the shellac. It doesn’t last and it’s not worth the money.

I did not have a good experience here. Oh a whim, a friend and I decided to get manicures. We looked around for salons in the area and decided on Elite Nails, which was accepting walk-ins at the time. Sounded fabulous! Well, it went downhill from there. 1) the water used to soften my cuticles was cold. Not like a little lukewarm, like it felt like it had just been pulled out of the fridge. Not only was this uncomfortable, it didn’t help with the cuticle softening process. While this may sound vain or picky, it’s actually a health and safety concern. Cuticles that aren’t properly softened when they are pushed back and groomed can more easily cut or rip, which can open your nails to the possibility of infection. 2) My manicurist used base coat instead of top coat when sealing my manicure. 3) I got a «look» from the manager when I didn’t tip due to the above two problems. I also know the manager was aware of these 2 things because she scolded my manicurist in English about both of them. Rather than offering to try and rectify things, the manager just told my manicurist, «It’s ok, just don’t do it again.» No, neither one is ok actually, and my lack of tip reflects that. 4) I couldn’t tell whether or not the instruments they used had been sterilized. Usually places I go to pull a sealed, sterilized tray of instruments out and open in in front of me before starting the manicure. Please don’t misunderstand me; I’m not saying that the instruments they used were unsterile, just that without the sterile tray experience I can’t say that they were. Overall, this was probably the worst manicure experience I have ever had in my life. There are plenty of places close to this one you can visit instead, so do yourself a favor and skip Elite Nails.
