So this is what hipster in KY looks like. The place was full of bearded extras from a fishing boat show, whom were of course, playing team trivia. I will say that the questions being asked were pretty good. Now, enough about the peeps. OMFG!!! Was that burger DELICIOUS!!! Then, the truffle butter for the fresh cut fries… To die for. The food was so damn fresh and delicious I didn’t care that I was chillin with«southern hipsters». They had a really diverse beer selection too. A few too many IPA’S for my taste though.

Fun bar. Good place for beer. There’s a patio out back with a really nice atmosphere – my favorite place to day drink on a Saturday. They serve food – my favorite is the fried green tomatoes, the best I’ve had.

They used to be great. We’ve visited every few weeks for the past few months and the food is just terrible now. Stale bread, food served cold, awful. Are the waffles in the chicken and waffles frozen now? I don’t know. I keep going back because I remember how great it used to be. I think this is the last straw. :(RIP Four Pegs.

I’ve been to Four Pegs many times. The beer and food are consistent and tasty. Beer selection is decent, my favorite beer is a seasonal called Founders Blushing Monk. Favorite menu items to order are the KY Poutine Frys, Chicken & Waffles. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoy the patio seating if the weather is nice!

Four stars for the overall bar and beer selection and two stars for the food. If I lived around here I could see myself stumbling in for a few round of drinks. Great local patrons, super friendly and knowledgeable staff and an ambiance that I surely miss from a good dive. We came in with a group of seven to eat and have a few beers before heading over to the track. I ordered a Bell’s Two Hearted. They were out of it but the bartender thought of two other selections and let me try them before making a decision. She was spot on so I ordered the Dale’s Pale Ale. Excellent choice. I cannot wait to come back for more. My fiancé ended up choosing the other of the two she let us try(I don’t recall the name) and he was just as pleased. For lunch(or brunch as they had breakfast choices on Saturday) I ordered the Breakfast Plate that consisted of three eggs(choose your style), two pieces of toast, bacon or sausage, and potatoes. The bacon was delicious but everything else was standard diner/bar food. Not terrible, but not great. I would eat here again, but I probably wouldn’t make this my go-to food spot(definitely a go-to beer and drink spot though). My fiancé got the veggie burger. He loved it. It’s an order at the bar type of place. They have a huge sign and it’s on all of their menus(which was pointed out to me by the six other of my friends). The outdoor patio looked very inviting but as it was a chilly day we opted to sit inside. Old house turned into bar. Love the style of the entire place. I will be back to drink more beer. And hopefully meet some more friendly locals.

Four Pegs was my second attempt at lunch today. We sat at the bar after confirming the seats were free(other customers confirmed they were) and then Waited ten minutes while the bartender wandered aimlessly back and forth behind the bar, she never greeted us, never offered a menu, never actually spoke to us. She didn’t smile or seem in any way happy to be there. We finally just left and went down to Eiderdown. The service there was spectacular. Maybe they should offer lessons…

The red dragon burger is the best burger I’ve ever had. If you don’t try this burger before you die, I feel bad for you.

This bar is definitely a neighborhood establishnent that attracts people from the entire metro area. The outside is not impressive and it masks the tasty morsels that are offered inside. The Red Dragon burger contains aged ale & mustard cheddar with dill crème. OMG! The meat was so flavorful and juicy, but I didn’t really like the bun. I substituted the truffle fries instead of the house-cut fries for $ 2 extra. I probably should have gotten the house-cut fries so that I could sample their staple before I ordered a specialty. But, I’m so glad I got those truffle fries. We didn’t sample any beer on this visit. But we plan to return with friends to sample other burgers.

Stopped after an event at St. Xavier High School. Both of us had the chicken and waffles sandwich with truffle fries. Excellent! Great beer list!

Four Pegs is brilliant! From the beer to the burgers. Get the truffle fries when you order, and the chicken and waffle sandwich is incredible!

I went to four pegs because a really great friend of mine wanted to meet here. The first thing I didn’t like was that I had to order everything from the bar. No bid deal though, I’ve been to lots of places like that before it’s just not my favorite means of service. I ordered the four pegs burger and poutine fries. The burger was delicious but the gravy on the poutine legitimately tasted like cigarettes. Thinking there was something repulsive about the taste I moved the fries around with my fork to find something I initially thought was a large piece of lettuce, only to find when I pulled it out, that it was an entire piece of paper. You can’t even make this stuff up… so I obviously showed the bartender. He said he would replace my fries. Forty minutes later I still had no French fries and when I went to pay for the bill and I told him I never received fries all he did was take four dollars off of my bill. By all means, if you like to pay money for a burger, some cigarette/paper flavored French fries and mediocre(at best) service, visit Four Pegs.

I will start out by saying that I’m not really a beer person, but that holds no weight in my review. I came to Four Pegs for the food! I met up with a few coworkers(who all like beer) and once we arrived, we seated ourselves and looked over some menus. There were two bartenders handling consistently long lines of customers surprisingly well(they are both obviously very skilled at their jobs). The lines went quick and they took orders of food and drinks, some mixed and some beers. My coworkers and I didn’t need to wait for very long at all to order or to receive our food. I ordered the chicken and waffle sandwich with poutine fries. I also ordered two whiskey and sprites and a Not Your Father’s Root Beer. The food was AWESOME. My only criticism is that the poutine was a little congealed and the fries looked and felt as though they had been sitting for a bit, which was disappointing since I had really been craving poutine. The sandwich, however, was hot and fresh and the flavors were awesome. The fried chicken was piping hot and I loved the maple sauce on it. But… I’ve gotta deduct a star for the poutine :(I was very underwhelmed by it. Another thing I was displeased by was my bill. I know it sounds a little whiny to complain about something like that, but my bill came to $ 37. That would mean that my drinks were almost $ 10 a piece… for whiskey and Sprite? I was a little confused by that. If I come here again, I will definitely be getting a water. Anyway, the ambiance is pretty nice and the seating is ample. They have a back patio and the bartenders are friendly and efficient. Overall, it was a pretty decent place to eat at. Even more so if you like beer!

MmMmMmM, who would have guessed, some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, in a land-locked state(shh don’t tell my foodie friends I said that). Four Pegs is a fun lunch spot. The food is pretty exceptional for a place that serves burgers and the like. I hear the veggie burger is the best around, to be confirmed soon. Also, dat beer list tho. There were so many craft brews on the list, many of which I’d never tried. Feels like a golden land of lunch-time opportunity. Hoo-rah!

Great selection of beers and burgers. The beer burger has a fried green tomato and it’s delicious. The thick cut bologna sandwich was a stand out, so was the poutine. The truffle fries are very tasty. If you want to be incredibly full, upgrade to chili cheese fries… It’s a lot.

I was visiting family for Thanksgiving & desperately needed a break & an adult beverage. My mom wanted to take me to another bar nearby, but they were closed. We had the fried green tomatoes & pretzels with beer cheese. Both were excellent! Staff was very friendly & knowledgeable about beer selection & local bourbon history. I would definitely come back here on another visit to Louisville!

Such a cool bar to hang out with your group of friends. The food is delicious. The truffle fries are crack; corn fritters are creamy and crispy; and the chicken and waffles are out of this world. My advice is you can share that between 2 because it’s heavy and will put you to sleep. While you wait for your food, go to the back and choose one of the board games and play… amazing way to let time pass while you have good beer and amazing food. Def coming back!

I keep trying all these new places and keep finding new favorites. This place is AH. MAY. ZING I ordered take out and on the drive from the restaurant to my apartment it took every ounce of willpower to not eat the food for myself and my sister. All the burgers looked like good options, but I tried something else. My choice for my first foray into their menu was the truffle fries and the Chicken and Waffles sandwich. The truffle fries were the normal pub fries with a delicious dipping sauce. Now the sandwich. Oh. My. God. I have had chicken and waffles before. But this was everything I hoped it would be and more. The waffles serving as the bun were fluffy and light, the maple sauce was sweet and the chicken was crunchy and a bit spicy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It is going to difficult to try other items their menu when I am going to just want to keep getting the slice of heaven.

My first trip to Four Pegs was a good one. At first when we sat down we waited for at least 5 – 10 minutes until I started looking for our waiter. I then read a sign saying all orders are places at the bar. LOL! I actually liked the concept. There was no wait after that. On Tuesdays they have a deal including a select draft beer and the chef’s special for $ 10! Today’s special was bbq chicken tacos. It came with corn tortillas, a light bbq sauce & house made coleslaw. Very, very good! My guest had the build your own burger w/o the bun and a side of poutine fries. Now the poutine fries were absolutely scrumptious. For an appetizer we had the pretzel and beer cheese. It was so good I forgot to snap a pic. Yum-o!!! I will definitely be back. Next visit I’ll order the chicken and waffle sandwich… and probably another pretzel and beer cheese. :)

All hail our four legged friends! Haha. Just kidding. Seriously though, this place offers a good selection when it comes to pub food — and their beer selection… YASSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Went here last night for the second time to get some food to take home. It was on my way from school and they didn’t close until 11pm. It was a weekday and not ridiculously busy, so service was quick. Got the smoked salmon wontons while I waited and a beer — Evil Twin Sour Bikini. The salmon wontons were so freakin good! I don’t usually like the cream cheese filling in fried wontons, but it was absolutely delicious. I scarfed them down like it was the last supper. Nom nom. The sour bikini beer… Yummy! Who knew??? Burgers we got was the Red Dragon and the BBQ Jalapeño. Both were cooked to perfection. I actually liked my husbands bbq burger more than mine. Still… Mine was tasty with some type of fancy aioli or something on it. In the time I was waiting I saw the chicken and waffles come out as well as the fish and chips. My eyes were big with envy!!! Can’t wait to go back!

Really glad that I tried this place. I went with a friend for dinner. And the level of excitement went as follows… Really excited, followed by let down, followed by excited again. I suppose I should have looked before I went, but the food menu just isn’t extensive at all. And that’s OK, as it is more of a pub than a restaurant, so that’s probably my problem more than it is their’s… With that said, I got the fish and chips. A pub staple. Now, I lived in England for 4+ years. It’s not fair that I compare American fish and chips to a proper British chippy. There really is no comparison. But, for American fish and chips, this place does a great job. The fries(they’re not big enough to be called chips — sorry) were really good. I’m not usually impressed by fries, but these were great. They appeared to be twice fried, and they had a good blend of salt/seasoning on them. It wasn’t overwhelming(good thing). I really was impressed with them. The fish was fantastic. This is the closest I’ve found to a British fish(not comparing the two, just saying). It was large enough to feed a grown man. *Takes a bite of raw steak, like I’m chewing tobacco, to prove my manhood* The fish was also seasoned really well. It had a magnificent flavor. A lemon pepper type seasoning, I’d guess? Agree with those that say the flight of beers is the way to go. Certainly agree. 6 beers at 4oz each. My friend and I did this. We looked like a couple of raging alcoholics with all these glasses on our table. I’ll definitely be back. Great atmosphere. Great pub. Good food, just not an extensive amount of it, which is why it doesn’t get a 5* review from me. Overall great place. Worth a visit, for certain.
