The only thing I love more than discovering a new place is telling other people about my great new find! I had seen the sign for Gemelli in Chenoweth Square a number of times, but always when I was on the way somewhere and unable to pop in. Well, today was the day that I ended up having a spare second, so I finally got to go inside and check the place out. The first thing I noticed was how clean it all looked. As advertised, it definitely has wine and spirits, with waist-high wooden racks throughout the store and wood-lined built-in shelves of spirits lining the periphery. Wines are divided by region(France, Italy, Spain, and the USA) and span a variety of price points from under $ 10 to up to $ 60 or so. Spirits line the walls, and the selection of bourbon did not disappoint. I walked out with a white wine from Italy, a Grillo. While the sales associate hadn’t tried that particular one before, she did say that the red from that same label was pretty tasty. Once home, I popped the cork on my under $ 10 bottle and tried a swig. .. not bad! It was almost like a Chardonnay, but without the almost peppery flavor that some of them have(forgive my clumsy description, sommelier I am not!) Sure, there may not be the huge variety of other liquor stores at this place, but the peaceful atmosphere, friendly sales associate and local love(in the form of Cellar Door chocolates for sale near the checkout) makes it a place I’ll visit again.
