Fantastic baked goods. As beautiful as they are delicious. Raspberry cheesecake was the best I’ve ever had. Just tell them one of everything! Love the painted chocolates too!

Went there today for dessert, got a piece of tirimisu which is one of my favorite desserts and I will say in my opinion it’s a bit overpriced and entirely too sweet. The flavor of the marscapone did not come through nor did the presence of coffee which I feel should be present within the first bite of a good tirimisu. Everything looks pretty and amazing taste is lacking.

Really great dessert– kind of terrible service. Apparently the umbrellas ‘can’t be raised in the evening’ and tables have no need to be cleaned either. The staff always seems annoyed someone has come in. With that said– great cakes and chocolates though. I just don’t know if it’s worth the price with such a cranky staff.

Great coffee, beautifully poached eggs, delicious potatoes… And a nicely appointed restaurant in which to eat all of it. Thanks, Ghyslain! I came for breakfast after Dawn at the Downs. Nice staff and great food. I need to come for lunch and for dessert sometime, too. Both the men’s and women’s restrooms have changing rooms. I love it.

Out of sight but should not be out of mind. Case in point, last weekend every restaurant in my NuLu neighborhood was packed! NCAA tourney, Bock Fest and Easter weekend! Wow! Starving and not wanting to stand in line we thought Ghyslain! We were right! Had a fabulous and may I add very reasonably priced brunch in their beautiful space. We also got to see the most beautiful Easter chocolates ever!

Beet salad: Generous portion size. Greens tasted fresh, goat cheese was soft and rich, and the nuts were sweet and crunchy. The beets were beautiful and the fennel gave nice spice. Great salad! French Onion Soup: Not impressed. It was served lukewarm, and the soup: onion ratio was disappointing. It was like eating a cup of soggy caramelized onions. I usually look forward to the cheese whenever I order french onion soup, however I was very underwhelmed here. Also, very oily! This soup was just sad. Although the food was 50:50 for me, what makes this place 2⁄5 stars is that the service was horrendous. The lady who took my order was very impatient and acted super passive aggressive. In the middle of ordering, she got distracted and left me mid-sentence to tend to a table. Didn’t apologize when she came back. Rude. She also seemed to be annoyed that I was ordering more than one item and grumbled as if she couldn’t bear listening to my voice any longer when I asked to add the french onion soup(big regret) and then the coffee. Def not the friendliest folks in the neighborhood.

This is the perfect place to stop in for dessert after dinner in NULU(or anywhere). The desserts are beautiful and you really can’t go wrong with anything you order. I have been here several times with my mom, husband, dad, and aunts. And nobody is ever disappointed in what they order. You feel like you’re getting the chance to eat delicious artwork, and you can really enjoy very single bite. Love this place!

As I plan to travel to Paris soon, I wanted to get a feel for French culture and cuisine. The atmosphere was nice, both inside and out. The building and patio felt very European. I had the Croque Monsieur Panini. I recommend it! Their coffee was great too.

Great French style café with wonderful desserts, coffee drinks, chocolates and such. The desserts are what make it unique.

I had the California salad with salmon and the vegetable focaccia. They were just ok, nothing special. I won’t have lunch there again! I also had dessert: Charlemagne and macaron cake. They were very good! But the service was very poor: I had ordered my food to go, and when I asked them for plastic forks and knives, they told me that they had just run out of them! When I explained that I can’t eat my salad with hands and that they should have told me that they didn’t have plastic flatware when I told them that my order was to go, they asked the manager and she found two plastic forks in a drawer(not in a plastic!). Also, when I asked about the ingredients of the dessert, the person who took my order speculated the ingredients instead of asking someone who knows or just saying she didn’t know! After I insisted that I needed to know for sure, she went and asked someone! This place is very fancy, and the decorations are nice. It is on the expensive side, but the food and service are not that great!

Met a friend at #Ghyslain #French café, for a snack & conversation. I just had croissant. It was $ 2.49. It was fresh & very delicious. I have never been to France so I can’t compare cuisine. They have soups; salad, gelato; French press coffee; quiches; etc. It has a casual atmosphere with outdoor tables. My friend had the broccoli soup which she really enjoyed. ” Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.” Albert Camus

This is, for sure, my go-to place! I love European cafes, and especially if they are executed well here in the United States. This place has everything, from soup, sandwiches, quiches, desserts(too lovely to eat, yet so good!), tea, coffee; the list goes on! This place also does run like a café, where you order in the front, find yourself a spot to sit and wait for your meal to be prepared and brought to you. They also have lovely patio seating for warmer weather! The food is so fresh and always delectable. My go-to meal is the cream of broccoli soup and the smoked salmon sandwich. Both are so fresh and presented so beautifully! If I am not too full, I try and get a homemade macaron, or a scoop of gelato. Service can be slow, depending on how busy it is there, but it is worth it! If you are out and about in NuLu and want some great and fresh food, this is the place to be!

Food was okay. It would’ve been much better if it wasn’t cold. The Croque Madam was basically a panini with a fried egg on top. The biggest disappointment was the croissants which were hard and felt like they had been baked a week before. French press coffee was the standout. May try again, hoping it was all a fluke.

I recently visited Ghyslain on Market and was reminded why I like it so much. My husband and I wanted brunch on Sunday and after realizing other places around Nulu had a long wait(we were hungry and impatient), we decided on Ghyslain. One of the things I love about this place is that it is tucked away and typically not overly crowded on weekends. Aside from not being crowded, this place is SO good. This is French food at it’s finest in Louisville. For breakfast, I love the Breakfast Croissant and Sausage Brioche. Both of them will fill you up… or stuff you :) and both are delicious. Pair one of these with a cup of french press coffee and you are good to go for the day. While I didn’t get lunch this past visit, the salads and other items I’ve had in the past are always good. In fact, I’ve never had anything I didn’t like here. Ghyslain is also great at night for a glass of wine, gelato, or both! My book club has met here before and it was perfect. Finally, if you are in need of a gift for someone, pick up one of the amazing looking boxes of chocolates. They are beautiful and taste wonderful as well. There’s so much to like about this place. Everyone should visit.

Everything I’ve ever tried here is perfectly made. From their salads to the quiches to deserts to gelato. My favorite is the smoked salmon baguette. Im in love with it and would eat it every day of my life if I could. Their French press coffee is how coffee should be served. Perfection, perfection perfection!

I’m big on brunch, so Ghyslain on Market is a go-to for me. The first time I went, I was so impressed by the food. I got the breakfast croissant and subbed the ham for sausage. They do sausage links(to my dismay), but even so, the sandwich was perfection. Everyone in my party was pleased as well — from the chicken pot pie to the macaroni and cheese to the New Orleans gumbo soup. Perfection. You could say that I have an addictive personality, so of course, I looked for any excuse to come back to Ghyslain after my initial visit. I took my sister here a few weeks s later for a midday meal(~3pm). I got the breakfast croissant again. However, this time the sandwich was okay. It wasn’t bad, but the croissant wasn’t toasted to perfection like the previous time. Perhaps because they weren’t as busy around that time, maybe the ovens were not churning and the sandwich was therefore not toasted and crisp like my initial visit. Regardless, I still enjoy coming to Ghyslain. The place itself is beautifully decorated, resembling a chic, French café. They have wonderful outdoor seating and a yummy dessert selection.

I am so happy that I finally went here for lunch on Sunday but so mad at myself for not going sooner! The smell of fresh baked goods and savory dishes filled the air in Ghyslain. The moment I walked in– I was transported back to France. Heavenly! The menu had me dizzy with excitement. Crepes, desserts, smoked salmon, soups, salads, mussels and more– how ever do I choose? I went with my first instinct and ordered the Crêpe Mistral– a savory crêpe filled with tomatoes, artichokes, spinach and cheese. I picked the beet salad for my side. AMAZING! My husband order the smoked salmon with new potatoes and it was perfection. I am not sure if he actually got to eat much because I kept stealing bites. The patio area outside was so cute and quiet too. I love the fact that it is off the main road. The décor was very Parisan. They even have Eiffel Tower wall-paper in the restrooms. Our server was friendly and the atmosphere laid-back. I can’t wait to try the mussels and desserts next time. Who’s hungry?

Beautiful day to sit outside and brunch at this hidden restaurant. Although I didn’t partake, their chocolates look AMAZING. The BLTE was very good as well as the leek scalloped potatoes. I would have preferred the roasted potatoes with my breakfast but they were out, I plan to return and try out their lunch and some sweet treats. I was checking out all the food that walked by my way and everything looked worthy of a bite! Next breakfast will be the quiche.

Ghyslain is one of my favorite places in Louisville to go for coffee and dessert. I can’t really comment on anything at Ghyslain that doesn’t contain copious amounts of sugar, as I’ve never been able to pass by the dessert case. It calls to me like a Siren. Cake, truffles, macaroons. I. Just. Can’t. Resist. I highly recommend the hazelnut French press. As well as any of the pretties calling to you from the dessert case.

I haven’t been here in awhile but it was just as good as I remembered it! We went at lunch on a Friday so it was a little busy(it took about 25 minutes to get food but they told us that before we ordered). The food was still delicious! I got the Quiche Loraine with scalloped leaks and potatoes — Oh My Gosh!!! They were so filling but in the best way possible. Like comfort food makes you feel. My aunt got two of their macaroons(chocolate and bourbon) and the flavors were delicious. However they were chewy which I’m not used to with a macaroon. I would definitely try pretty much all of their other desserts :) When you walk in you go up to the counter to order/pay and they bring your food to you when it’s ready. While you’re waiting you can oogle the desserts which all look divine! They have a nice little area outside for seating in the summer. I want to check out their location in Westport Village but haven’t had the chance to yet.
