I love this location! Heine Brother’s coffee is a great spot to hit up if you don’t want to go to you know where. The coffee here is great if not better. And this location is pretty big. There are tons of people just hanging out here, working on their laptops or reading a book. The last time I was here, I got the vint julep which was delicious if you like mint. It has espresso with mint as well as brown sugar. Get the bigger size. Trust me. The orders come out pretty fast. Parking for this place is okay. We were lucky and found parking behind the store, but there’s also metered parking around.

Today at your store a homeless man approached my mother asking for money and when she said she didnt have any to spare he spit on her face. Everyone was appalled but the manager took nearly 10 minutes before coming over and asking if anything could be done to help. He did mention apologetically that he asked the guy to leave shortly before this happened– if a person is harassing customers to the point management has to ask them to leave then he should be seen to the door. Not just told in hopes he will leave quietly. Clearly that failed to happen today. Very disappointing and ridiculous.

You haven’t had coffee until you had real coffee. This is real as real gets. Grinded in house. as much as i like cream and frapuccinos this doesn’t need anything but good honest coffee. I’m sold!

Working down the street at Bellarmine, this is probably the HB location I frequent most, and it’s a particularly good location for meetings, as the tables are sizable and aren’t set too close to one another. Also, it may be the largest coffee shop in the chain, and there’s usually ample seating. Parking in the area is a bit of a issue, however, as the parking lot here is tiny and is also shared by a few other businesses on the block.

While I’m not a coffee drinker, I do enjoy hot chocolate and a tasty dessert treat. To sample those two was my mission on this recent visit. The atmosphere was quiet and inviting. It was just perfect for talking with friends. The hot chocolate was flavorful, but not«sugary sweet» and creamy because of the huge dollop of whipped cream atop it. My chosen dessert was the derby pie. Once again, it was not too sweet, smelled of pecans and tasted delicious… Mixed with The hot chocolate. One of the best parts was that the server warmed the pie for me without reservation. I’ve tried this numerous times at another coffee shop without success. Because this well-known-large-chain-expensive-coffee franchise rarely warms its pastries, I do not frequent that establishment. Now that I know that Heine Brothers will warm its pastries, I will frequent the stirs when I want a small taste of dessert that’s not to sweet or expensive.

I’ve written other Heine Bros. reviews so I’ll just focus on what I like/dislike about this location. The parking here is no good. It’s right on busy Bardstown Road and there’s a little strip of parking meters by it, but there are a lot of businesses right here so don’t count on one being open. Other than that, there’s street parking on Bardstown or in the neighborhood nearby. On the inside this place is very spacious. Actually I think it’s a lot bigger than it would appear on the outside, or at least that’s what I remember thinking my first time here 4 years ago. Anyway, plenty of tables if you’re looking to stay and work, study, or meet someone and catch up. Because of the high ceilings I do think it tends to be a bit noisier than other locations. I always bring headphones when I’m coming here to study so I can drown out other noises. The drinks here are just like the other locations. I do like how this local chain is able to keep that consistency going. Overall this location doesn’t do much for me other than being bigger than the one closest to my house. I think really the parking situation bugs me more than it should.

As much as I have a deep appreciation for other local coffee shops I have to admit Heine brothers is a cut above. They have some of The tastiest teas, use local raw honey, and this location is right in the loop. Heine always has a nice a nice atmosphere and sells treats from the local sweet shops as well as yummy sandwiches from lotsa pasta. The service at the location it fast and friendly but most every Heine brothers I frequent has a really nice sort of homie quality as well. It’s a good place to read, work on your computer, visit with a friend also.

Eh. I’d describe this location’s building as urban outfitters-like. Tall ceilings, loft-like openness, and farmhouse industrial. It’s Quite chilly, and rather loud. I’d only recommend this place for work if you have wool socks, a sweater, and noise-canceling headphones. My drink was underwhelming, but I have a pretty small sample size. You know, I’d totally prefer studying at bread works: cozy, intimate, delicious, quieter.

I don’t know if all the locations have this(probably), but they have these really great vegan breakfast sandwich/wrap things that they grill for you from the cooler. I’m sure all the varieties are good, but the veg ones are the only ones I ever get(and I’m not even veg. They’re just good) I will say I think their Chai is cloying and I threw it away the time I got it. The iced lattes aren’t great either. I think they froth the milk before pouring it over ice. I get the point, but I’d prefer they didn’t immediately melt the ice and water down my drink. That said, I love every other coffee drink I get there, usually hot lattes of one variety or another.

Although I love many things about this place — location, it’s local, atmosphere — but at the end of the day it’s about the coffee. It’s not bad, but I prefer a darker roast(i.e. Tanzanian Peaberry, Sumatra) and every time I’m in there they are pawning off some Central American bean without much flavor. Back when they started in the 90’s they seemed to have much better coffee over the counter.

Derby City Joe Review #1 Hands down, this is the largest Heine Brothers store in the system. You can fit a dozen Sunergos in here! That alone makes it stand out among its other Vint/Heine Brothers Brethren. And with this local chain starting to look more and more like that ubiquitous coffee house from Seattle, standing out a little is a good thing. Tons of natural light and even more seating. Usually, it is a very relaxing, somewhat quiet atmosphere. At times, The Douglass Loop Heine Brothers is a little too big. The cozy intimate coffee space gets lost among neighborhood meet ups and business meetings. I know that the 13 Heine Brothers shops can sometimes run together, but you can certainly place this one firmly in the better than average box. Coffee of The Day — Columbia. Medium and full bodied. Tasty. A little sweet. And easy to Drink. Cost of a small mug of Joe — $ 2 Cost of a Refill –Heine used to have $ 3.06 unlimited red mugs, but I’m told that has since changed. Décor — Tables, Tables and More Tables Ambiance — The crowd runs young to old ranging from Bellarmine Students to slow moving retirees. Requisite Resident — Stocky, harmless crazy man who talks to himself Sample Crowd — A variety ranging from meeting groups, soccer moms and a pre-work crowd Staff — The smiling and somewhat quirky staff sets the mood for a friendly store-wide vibe Bonus– The extensive seating continues with a good amount of outside seating What makes this Coffee Shop Sing? — A reliable, good cup of coffee with ample, comfortable seating and a great place to meet up with your crew.

Really good coffee/latte stop here. Good food items also and nice area to hang and do internet, etc. I shall return.

This is easily my favorite Heine Brothers shop, overall. I love the atmosphere, the location, the vegan eats and the staff! For people watching you can find hardly a better corner and the outdoor seating has been home to many lengthy conversations over a steaming(or iced!) cup of Joe. Only downside is how popular it is on Saturday mornings — they get crazy backed up but I still wait on line for the best americanos!

My daily morning haj… usually there is no complaints but a couple of the baristas don’t steam the milk hot enough. My hot joe’s gotta last to downtown, man! The wee lass, Jen, is a looker…

Until moving to the Highlands and walking into Heine Brothers Coffee. I was what I call an over the counter coffee drinker… Meaning any coffee you could by at the local grocer… The Aroma and quality of coffee Is Unsurpassed by anyone… They are local… They give back to the community… And the staff is exceptional…

I do not understand why Heine Brothers is so popular in Louisville. First, the completely overroast their beans. Second, the name sounds like a euphemism for butt. I guess if you like the charred offerings of Starbucks, Heine Brothers is a suitable local replacement. There are, however, several shops in Louisville that stand head and shoulders above the quality of Heine Brothers.

We stopped by Heine Bros. on our way through Louisville, both on the way south and then when we were heading back north. The first time, we’d just attempted to eat at an abominable* diner down the street, and my wife needed some kind of decent sandwich. Happy accident, as it turns out, because I discovered their wonderful coffee. On the way back through, we were much happier, and the coffee topped off a wonderful brief afternoon in Louisville. If you’re ever in town, make sure you give one of their shops a try. * not in the«turned out to be cute and just misunderstood way, like the Abominable Snowman is often depicted, but in the«Oh [bleep], I think we finally discovered the worst restaurant we’ve ever visited» kind of abominable.

Espresso at 10PM? Yes please. Thank you. Sure I am insane and will drink me an Espresso at 10PM, and this is the place to do it so why not? As almost anywhere in this area, there is local, original art on the walls so its a real treat if you like to look. The Espresso? Great. The service at 10PM was great too, so what can I say but thanks Heine for hooking a girl up with her java.

What better way to procrastinate on my paper than writing this Unilocal review? I just got to Louisville yesterday, and of course I have a 10-page paper due tomorrow, a final remnant of the school year’s work. My internet hasn’t been hooked up yet in my apartment, so I went searching for free wifi + decent coffee. I found it here at this Heine Bros location! It’s conveniently located(to me, at least). The wifi(for being free) is pretty fast(although I’m only one of five computers here at the moment) and the coffee is much better than I expected(but being a bit of a coffee lover, I don’t tend to expect much!) It’s strong, and I can actually see the milkfat floating up to the top of my iced latte. The space is large, chairs are plentiful, and yes, the abundance of power strips makes me feel welcome to stay forever. Or until 10pm, when they close. I will also say that I’m freezing in here. It’s hot and humid out(humid enough to feel at least 10 degrees hotter than it is), but the air con is up so high that I am so happy I had the foresight to bring a light sweater. This would probably be mitigated if there were more people here, but then it would get annoying. Prices are higher than one would expect of local coffee, but overall I’m very satisfied.
