Walked in on a Sunday afternoon, two young girls were working and one couple in front of us. We waited at the ice cream but were never greeted or asked if we were ready. The two girls working were too busy chatting with each other. We left and headed to Graeters.

There were two girls working one at the register and one serving ice cream. You guys should consider having 2 lines. One for serving precut pie30 seconds and one for serving ice cream where customers are taste testing every flavor before making a decision. You might not have people leave before buying. Your servers were rude as well.

Service was so terrible that we left without trying this place. The ice cream line was insanely long and all we wanted was a piece of pie. We were very rudely told by the servers that we had to wait. Also, the servers were not kind, fairly slow and looked miserable. It was a shame because the pies looked delicious. Hopefully management will see this and aim at improving!

Wow, I came in and was in line behind who must have been Bethany, because I heard a lady ask if they had to wait for pie. The server was super polite, apologized but said nicely that the line was for everyone. There was a line out the door — can you imagine if they had allowed someone to go to the front of the line when everyone else was waiting??? I think Bethany is just an impatient customer that felt she deserved preferential treatment! Now, for my experience… The treats were fantastic and the servers were busy but very friendly, even offering to warm my pie up in spite of the rush! I would definitely go back!

How can you not like a place that has a ton of different pies and also a large varieties of ice cream? The staff here is VERY friendly and the pies are excellent, no chain store blandness here. A large sliced cost me around $ 4 so skip the overpriced cupcake fad and stuff your piehole here.

This is the 2nd time in a week we’e visited one of these, the first being their Bardstown location. Both times the service and pie/ice cream were excellent.

Really nice little shop. Enjoyed a piece of pie with a scoop of homemade ice cream. Very reasonable prices.

I’ve been to several of their locations in the Louisville area, this one seems to be up to par with the rest of them. Considering I get the same thing everytime I go, it was good as always.

My husband and I like to come here every so often when the mood strikes. I love that they have seasonal items. I usually stick with the Wild Maine Blueberry or the blue raspberry sherbet. The staff can be a little finicky depending on who you get. Sometimes they’re awesome(like tonight) and other times it’s like you’re bothering them asking them to do their jobs. Tonight I did try the bacon and Vermont maple ice cream, the flavor was tasty but the bacon was a little chewy being cold. I don’t know if I’d be able to eat a lot of it. The hubs got the peach pie and blueberry ice cream which he thoroughly enjoyed. We’ll for sure be back at some point in time.

My family stopped by the FABULOUS Homemade Ice Cream to cleanse our palate after eating Chinese food across the street. This is a great one of a kind ice cream shop. All of the ice cream is handmade from hormone free, locally sourced milk and cream. They have an interesting assortment of customary and unusual ice cream flavored. After a full dinner I chose a light option: pineapple sherbet. I frequently eat store bought sherbet but this was far better. I ordered a child’s scoop(as did all of my family) – it was enormous. Five scoops of ice cream came to only $ 10. Back home in KC this would have been close to $ 20 at Baskin-Robbins. Didn’t have the problem with staff that others reported. The woman who served us was extremely patient. She gave my girls tastes of different flavors without any impatience. She filled in the funnel of the cone before she scooped my daughters ice cream cone. It’s the only time I’ve ever given a tip at an ice cream shop. Homemade Ice Cream also has interesting cakes, pies, and other baked goods. They also do sandwiches and soups. Didn’t have any of these, so I can’t vouch for them. But if they’re as good as the ice cream it’s definitely worth checking out.

Normally I woild give this place a great review. however, on my last trip in with my husband, I was less than pleased with the service. we normally frequent this place every 2week or so. I love selection of berry pies. We came in on a Sundays replace was dead and there selection pies were ridiculous. they had maybe2 pies(sugar free) in the case and a few slices on cream pies. On a table to the rights a poker size table of their version of «on sale pies» the reason on the boxes read«oops! Made too many!» So I seems beloved berry pie on the table but alas… I just want a piece and a cup of coffee, not a whole I ask since they were out of mypie in the case of they ciuldslice me a piece or two to take home for later. rudely like I was bothering them, they flat out refused. o explain I don’t want a wholepie and they have none in the case but there are 3 «extras» sitting in the table. again they said my husband got really ticked and told them to keep they’re over priced cheescake slice was eyeballing and we left. I can understand being soldout. I can understand not having stock ready-made to go but when you are displaying an item that your customer is trying buy and you refuse to do your job because you may have actually work is ridiculous. sad thing is… they world have made more money off of my 2 pieces and my husbands cheese cake than they would have from their $ 10 pie. I miss my pie but its the principle. need a need«bakery» now

Nice little ice-cream /bakery shop. Most of the Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen locations are great, however I prefer the Frankfort Avenue location the best.

This location is very nice. The staff seemed to be very helpful to me and my family the multiple times that we have been here. We have ordered multiple cakes and pies now(even though we have only lived here about two months) and have been satisfied with every dessert they have. I have been to a few of the other HIC&P kitchens but I think this one«looked» the cleanest. I would recommend it. :)
