This is not my go-to Chinese buffet in Louisville, but it is pretty good. The sushi is almost all cooked, but that can be expected on a buffet. I was disappointed in their Crab Rangoon, it’s very dry and there’s barely any filling in them, also their lo mein noodles left something to be desired. The bourbon chicken reminded me of the bourbon chicken you can get and a mall Chinese restaurant, it was decent, but not great. The rest of the buffet tasted amazing, just these few items I mentioned were a little sub-par. A few items that stood out we’re definitely the sesame chicken, the egg drop soup, the pepper steak with onions and the steamed pork dumplings. The restaurant itself is in a really busy location right on Hurstbourne so you never have to worry about the food being fresh, especially if you’re there during their lunch or dinner rush, with the restaurant being packed they keep the food refreshed often. The restaurant also looks very interesting, the seating is comfortable and they have secondary rooms in case you’re not wanting to be in the center of a huge crowd, you can ask to be placed in the back where it’s a little quieter.

Not a great experience. Possible that some of the lackluster performance was because we came on that weird time slot between lunch and dinner(430). First bad sign was no rice cookers on the buffet, but rice in a steam table tray — not great. Dumplings were okay texture but chicken stuffing was super bland. Wonton soup just chicken, fried wonton strips were good, not super greasy. Food selection was decent, if seafood heavy. Service was acceptable but food was not worth the 24.76 for an adult and child with beverages. Decent fruit selection for winter. We will not be back.

Sushi was decent quality. It was fresh and kept at a proper temperature. A lot of buffets do not think to put their sushi on ice, so you end up getting room temperature sushi, which is not ok, so I appreciated the effort displayed here. The rest of the buffet left something to be desired. I would have really like a more extensive salad bar perhaps. The salad options consisted of chopped iceberg lettuce and a bottle of ranch dressing on ice. I did try some of the fried Chinese food options, which were ok as well. There are lots of options to choose from. In my experience, it was variety over overall quality, and I would prefer it the other way around.

I have eaten at about all the good Chinese restaurants in Louisville, and this is by far the absolute worst place I have been. I am not sure how it gets such good ratings. Yes the buffet stays full and the food is hot, but it lacks flavor. The restaurant itself has a weird smell. I tried it once and hated it. I decided some time later to give it a second try and it was still just as horrible. The servers keep your drinks full but don’t really speak. The bottom line is the food is flavorless and it was a total waste of money for me and my family.

First time here in a couple of years. Very little has changed. Still has a large selection. Quality is still above average. Free refills on drinks. Decent desserts. Good ice cream. Mongolian grill is ok.

I took my sons and daughter in law to eat here. We were not impressed. There was plenty of food, but it was not good. The food was greasy tasting, Not worth the 60.00 is cost for four people, not including tip. Even the desserts were bland at best. Don’t waste your money. There are much better Chinese Restaurants around.

Right next door to the stony brook theatre(Rave), this is my fave Chinese buffet in Louisville. A clean and typical environment — nicely laid out to move amongst all the options. All the usuals — egg foo young, Mongolian beef, General Tso chicken, sweet & sour chicken, crab Rangoon, egg rolls — all delish. I especially like their hot & sour soup, and selection of sushi. And lots of fresh, crisp vegetable dishes. All in all, a great deal.

*They’ve got a large selection of food *The servers will always take your plates and fill your drinks *Good tasting ice cream *Freshly made sushi on the sushi bar *Mongolian grill bar *Lots of seating *Fried chicken wings are good *A big stone fountain with turtles and fish in it. All kids are sure to love it *People say the hot and sour soup and egg drop soup taste great but I’m not a fan of soup XD

In a large city where a decent Chinese buffet is hard to find, this place is pretty solid. Nothing to write home about, but a good selection including sushi and a Mongolian grill and all the classic Chinese buffets must haves.

This is my favorite Chinese Buffet in Louisville! They have a good quality of food and they stay busy enough that you don’t have to wait long on fresh food to be put out. That’s a huge plus in the buffet business. Many Chinese buffets attempt Sushi and most get it horribly wrong but Jumbo is a huge exception. I love their Sushi so much I can’t go without having a plate of it alone. But Jumbo does many things very well, for example… BOURBONCHICKEN!!! And I mean real Bourbon Chicken too, not some random chicken dish which they slap the name on like Golden Corral does. This buffet is Seafood heavy!!! That’s another huge plus for me. Not to worry if you don’t dig the seafood. They are good about serving sausage dishes and having a fresh roast you can carve. Personally I have never had bad service either. My drink often stays full. I really can’t say enough or do it justice by just rambling on here so I will just say this… You been here 4 hour, you go now!

The best Chinese buffet in Louisville! Everything was hot & fresh, nothing was cold or hard. Very clean and organized. The food was delicious & better then other buffets around. I love steamed dumplings and these were great because they kept them in the steamer! Check this out if you have a craving for Chinese!

As Chinese buffets go, Jumbo is pretty good. Although table service is minimal, the attendants are vigilant about keeping beverages filled and used plates removed. That’s nice. The sushi is tasty, although most of the items are cooked. There is a stir fry station, where a chef will cook items you assemble. The hot buffet is large, offering many Chinese entrees, as well as several soups and a number of different dim sum. I really like Jumbo’s Bourbon chicken. It is a little spicy, and unlike other Bourbon chicken I have tried, Jumbo’s is not overly sweet. Jumbo’s Spicy Chicken is really spicy. Not Kentucky spicy. Spicy. Buffet $ 12.99

It’s not the Jade Palace, but it’ll do in a pinch. Good selection of food, stays pretty fresh and hot. Service quality varies day to day. Food pretty much same items everyday. Tends to get busy during lunch with all the contractor coming in. With any buffet, you have patrons that reach across steam table or use serving utensils for one food item for the next. But that’s just boils down to laziness. For the most part, it’s a good Chinese food quick satisfier but definitely not the Jade Palace!

I do not think it is the best Chinese Food in Louisville. I do enjoy the Buffet on Friday or Saturday. I like the all you can eat Crab Legs Shrimp Oysters ect. They also have Crawfish in onion and green pepper. The sushi is ok but it’s only 12.99 per person. If you want great fresh Chinese order off the menu. China House of Shelbyville Rd in St. Mathews is very good with great authentic atmosphere if not near Jumbo. I am just a person who lives near St Mathews. I drive to Jumbo 2 – 3 times a year.

This place I am sorry is disgusting. It smells like wet dogs but it appears to be a popular spot here in Louisville. This is one place I will be taking off my my places to visit.

People say this has to be the best Chinese buffet anywhere. I can’t claim that as I’ve visited a number in CA that would hold their own and then some. But of the ones I’ve tried in the midwest this one is Best! Hey I made a rhyme! Why it’s good; Service is surprisingly attentive, but not too much, your glass will always bill full. It’s big, there are really a ton of food choices, even if you don’t want Chinese food. They have a Sushi bar They have a Mongolian style BBQ They have some of the best Bourbon Chicken I’ve ever tasted(they’ve gotten awards for it) They are actually decorated, not a strip mall style place. It’s sort of international, every time I go there are people from all over the world eating here, Hispanic, Indian, Asian, Middle Eastern, and yes Southerners! They have 3 – 4 soups every day They have Dumplings, several kinds in fact They have craw fish(or crawdads if your from that part fo the country) There si a salad bar, pizza, fried chicken for those who don’t want Chinese and you can also count on most of the deserts being better than the average Chinese place(why are Chines restaraunt deserts often so terrible). Also a soft serve Ice Cream and Sunday Bar. And after Lunch or Dinner walk of the move theater and catch the altest movie.

For those of you who are calling into question the authenticity of the food at Jumbo Buffet I just have to say — are you freakin’ serious?! That’s like comparing Taco Bell to true Mexican cuisine. Or Pizza Hut pizza to pizza at an Italian pizzeria in Rome. C’mon now — give me a break. It’s called Jumbo Buffet for God’s sake — what can you expect? That being said — it was good. Was it amazing? No. But the buffet had a ton of selection, the food was fresh, and it all tasted good. It’s very similar to other Chinese buffet restaurants and has much of the same selection. It has a Mongolian grill which is nice for those who may want a healthier option or for those who aren’t a fan of buffets. All in all, I thought it was good. I would eat there again.

One extra star for their fried wings. Since the demise of the other Chinese buffet across the street and that other super yummy one on the east side on Chamberlain, Jumbo has become my default fix for Chinese buffet cravings. Just like T.T. has mentioned, I also no longer come here for their seafood offerings. The few remaining standouts are: wings, hot and sour soup and that one spicy chicken cube dish. Surprisingly, their wings are one of the best wings in the area. They are exactly what I want in a wing: jumbo, juicy and fried with the thinnest of flour coating. Their hot and sour soup is also great every time, spicy and just enough sour to sting the palate. And somehow, their offerings are very, very consistent. Every dish taste the same every time I go there. Not sure how they do it, but I know I can’t duplicate it at home so I keep coming back.

This used to be the Asian go to place for buffet, especially for crab legs, blue crabs and crawfish. With those 3 main things on the buffet line we gladly overlooked the rest of the other mediocre buffet stables. In the last few years, I rarely see crab legs, blue crabs are never fresh and crawfish on the salty side. So it no longer stands out among the other buffets in town. The soups are decent, sushi skeptical, the buns are pretty good, everything else is your standard buffet fare.
