This is a place where one picks up their groceries. I go to this Kroger because it is near my place of work and the staff here is friendlier than the one by my house. I don’t blame the one by my house, I’m a bit of a grouch and look for weird foods. However, this Kroger doesn’t seem to notice that I’m not right or at least they don’t point it out and help my despite my off-putting personality. This Kroger’s parking lot is also super easy to navigate. The only thing I don’t like about Kroger is the other people who shop there blissfully unaware of the fact that there are people all around them shopping, too. Sometimes I stop my cart and gaze at the shelves with them trying to figure out why they’re blocking the aisle and what is so incredibly interesting about canned corn. I mean, in my country we don’t eat corn(canned or no) so when I moved here I will confess that I was fascinated by it but I am pretty sure these people are the aboriginal inhabitants of Shively and not people who’ve only recently encountered the many splendored varieties of corn. Come for the groceries, stay for the people watching. Do not come if you’re in a hurry. Their cake department should also be given a look. If I really like you then I’ll bake you a cake but ninety percent of the time you’re not worth the effort. Our cakes never, ever come back with what we asked for on them but the grab bag dynamic of the cake decorating is part of the fun. We once got a cake that was to read, «Bye, Felicia!» for Felicia but they gave us a cake that said, «Buy Felicia» and two people asked who was leaving. Clearly, Felicia. This has happened every time we have gotten a cake no matter the precautions we’ve taken. Don’t worry, this ensures there is a conversation piece and great story at your party or event. You’ll thank me later.

Awesome organic foods section! This is my second favorite Kroger in Louisville(highlands Kroger is my first). They have a couple aisles dedicated to organic food and I love it. Sometimes if you check in the sale bins, they have the organic a marked down super cheap. They have an extensive selection of frozen yogurt and ice cream, frozen foods, and toiletries. Everything is always tidy and the staff is pretty friendly. The only downside is that they run out of fresh fruit a lot and when they have it, a lot of it is constantly hovered over by gnats and fruit flies. Over all a great store though, despite being located off Dixie.
