Atmosphere: The outside is unassuming, a hole in the wall. It’s part of a business building. Upon entering you’ll find a nice cozy restaurant, perfect for taking your family, or having a casual lunch/dinner with friends. Staff is attentive and friendly(rare for Korean restaurants). However, true to Korean restaurants, you need to ask if you want something(more sides, water, etc). The menu is quite varied and true to Korean food. There is even rumor that the chefs will make entrees that aren’t on menu for regulars and true Korean food enthusiasts. Food: the sides change from day to day. The cucumber kimchi here is fresh and crisp. The fried potatoes are chewy and meaty. Seafood pancake: it’s fluffy, packed with seafood that’s cooked to bite tender goodness. Dip it in the vinegar based sauce for a refreshing kick. Sah-Cheol Tang(Goat stew): comes literally boiling hot in a stone bowl, with a bowl of rice and side seasonings of garlic, peppercorns and a salty/spicy Korean paste. The meat is tender, delicious and the broth is wholesome, well seasoned, and hits the spot just right. Overall: they do very good casual and delicious Korean food here. If you’re looking for comforting soul food with an Asian flair, this is the place to go! Nothing is better than meat in a delicious broth with a bowl of steaming rice. (7÷10)

On one hand, this place may be the most unusually located restaurant in all of Louisville(I was all but certain GPS was leading me to the wrong place). On the other, I’m quite glad it is where it is, as it’s close-ish to home and work, and I can’t imagine parking or traffic ever being an issue. I’ve only been once, and was quite satisfied with the codfish stew($ 13) and the seafood stir-fry($ 16) we ordered. Everything was fresh, with the right amount of heat, and nothing was greasy in any way(unlike Korean stir-fry dishes at other spots in town). There was easily enough for two meals for two people. The one thing that disappointed me slightly was the panchan. There were six items(a little on the low side), not a lot of variety in terms of flavor/texture, and no refills. That said, there’s no criticizing the actually quality of the panchan, which was pretty top-notch. I want to come back and try the lunch menu soon…

Sigh. Kimchi, beef, & tofu spicy stew was not spicy, and tasted overwhelmingly of celery. Amounts of tofu(significant) and beef(a little) were fine, but soup needed chili! Not spicy. Ended up leaving more than ½ of it. Six banchan: two veggies with chili pepper, potato glazed with sweet(and way too salty! sauce), mung beans, broccoli(both blanched & salted), and shreds of crab with celophane noodles.

Not your authentic korean food /restaurant. It’s more a wannabe fusion with korean style blended with American pallette. If you are looking for an authentic korean food taste I would not come here. You would be disappointed.

This place is at a little weird location, among a few tall business building. It has recently finished remodeling with really nice décor, but seems like the price went up little also… This place is not very big, and probably better for a group no more than 6 people. They sometimes can get real slow during dinner time. Their side dishes are pretty good, I believe come with any order. One downside is that they don’t come with free refill like the other places. We usually order their spicy tofu soup, seafood pancake and beef bulgogi. If you are looking for Korean table grill, Lee’s probably not my first choice in town.

I already love Korean food, and I brought my boyfriend here to try Korean food for his very first time. I also wanted to try a different place than what I’ve been to before. We went during lunch hours and there was only one server, but she did her best and still provided good service. The food is great quality and we really enjoyed it. Definitely, authentic Korean food. Highly recommended for people who love to try new foods, and who love Asian food!

First time trying authentic Korean food and I must say I was not disappointed! Definitely recommend trying. Very tasty bulgogi and side dishes. They also recently renovated it seems; the place looks very modern.

Wow! An old favorite completely renewed. Lee’s has just reopened after being closed for renovation. The food has always been great. Now the décor and ambiance have been updated. There are a lot of new menu items that I can’t wait to try. I highly recommend stopping by to check them out for lunch

I’ve been searching for the best bibimbap in Louisville– and I’ve found it! Albeit, not the best bibimbap compared to restaurants outside of Louisville. I am sad to say that the best bibimbap in Louisville is only worthy of 3.5 stars from me. :( Moving to Louisville, I realized very quickly that there are not many authentic Asian restaurants. Many of them in town are highly Americanized and over priced. With that being said, Lee’s was a nice change of pace. Walking in you immediately notice the authenticity with posters written in Korean, the ambience a bit old and disheveled, and a waiter who can’t really understand English. *Stone hot bowl bibimbap — a bed of rice atop a hot stone bowl with cucumbers, spinach, and meat of your choice — I did shrimp(they charge $ 2 extra and don’t necessarily tell you until you pay), and of course the fried egg. The sauce that comes with it is more on the thicker, spicier side. I personally like mine pretty spicy so I asked for two sides of it. The flavor was pretty good. My friend had the beef bibimbap and she said the beef was well marinated and cooked perfectly. My critique about this dish– not enough veggies or rice compared to other restaurant servings especially for the price. Overall, I’d give it 3.5÷5 stars. Would I order this again? Yes, but I’d do take out as the service here was horrible.

Still the most authentic bibimbap and kimchi in the city. Although the place has barely changed in 25 years — always reliable, nothing new. Customers are usually more than half Korean, which is always a good sign. Why three stars? Korean food 4, everything else 2.

So I was visiting Louisville and staying like a block from this place. Unilocal had good reviews so i said why not! Def easy to miss as it’s in a corporate building – make sure you look at pic of door or place before heading out so you don’t miss it. I only had the vegetable pancake and ramen. Ramen was good! I wasn’t a fan of the veggie plan cake. Too thick for me. Overall it was fine. The employees were nice. Also across the street they have food trucks often just as an fyi for others.

This was our first time at Lee’s, but it won’t be our last. Everything was tasty and the portions were generous enough for left overs.

I almost missed it the first time I went but so glad I found it. It’s bigger than it seems on the outside and the service was good and the food delicious. We had the bibimbap and bulgogi and the Korean pancake… all very good. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxed which I liked. I would highly recommend

Excellent dop-bap for lunch: shredded cabbage, green onion, carrots, mushroom & baby corn with choice of meat. I prefer the park with this dish however beef works best with the Stone Bi-bim-bap. Tableside BBQ looks great but I wasn’t committing to the $ 40 plunge.

I visited the venue at the opening of the evening rush and was treated to a surprise. The Soup reminded me of Korea and I reflected on what good home style Korean food taste like. This is located in the bottom of a office building and from the outside looks closed. The food was really good and I would visit again when I’m in Louisville. The menu has a lot to choose from and the cook often will make items not on the list. It felt like you were a special guess when they knew you weren’t from the area. This is a Good place to stop through in Louisville! «Let’s Go! Make It Happen!!»

My first Korean restaurant. Very good experience! As a novice the waiter hooked me up with some pretty darn good noodles and side dishes with the right amount of heat. Well done. Don’t let the exterior throw you off. It’s legit!

Authentic Korean cuisine in Louisville, Kentucky? Who would have thought? I dropped by this restaurant for dinner, based on Unilocal reviews and I was not led astray. Glad I came here. I was in town for a business trip and did not want to get stuck eating at Chili’s a la Dunder This restaurant is hard to find. It’s in a business high rise and the sign is not easily visible. I drove past the restaurant and parked at the Best Western hotel parking lot which is the very next unit. I called and told them I was lost and asked if they were close to a Best Western hotel and the lady had no idea. I was about to leave and return to my hotel when I just decided to drive up the street in a last ditch attempt, and found it. So remember, in an office building, beside a Best Western… even if the restaurant tells up they don’t think they are. I ordered Kalbi which was great. Meat was cooked well and was sweet and marinated. Service was attentive and fast. And the Ban Chan was good also. I’m quite happy to have had authentic Korean food here. Props to Louisville, Kentucky!

Korean to me is like pizza. I’ve never had bad pizza or bad Korean. Saying that, pizza and Korean sometimes blows my socks off. This place did not. I had the chop chae off the lunch menu. It was an enormous pile of glass noodles with pork and veg. I asked for extra spicy but it came probably medium. It was pretty tasty with a huge pile to take home for $ 7.95. The ban chan was just ok. Again, socks not blown off. 3 stars because I love Korean and this place is good. Not the best I’ve had in Louisville.

Things haven’t changed much at Lee’s Korean in the 30 years since I first entered its doors with my Tae Kwon Do teacher for a sit down with his Grand Master. Service is consistent but can be a bit plodding at times as there is generally only one server no matter the number of patrons. On my most recent visit on March 31, 2014, the Chicken Bul Go Gi was as tasty as ever, although slightly overdone, it was not so much as to ruin its flavor. The selection of «Kim Chee»(the term used loosely here to designate all the yummy items served in tapas size bowls) was nearly identical to my 30 years ago visit: broccoli(lightly fermented with a smoky sesame oil flavor), fermented daikon, Kim Chee cabbage, grilled fermented potatoes, tofu, «kim chee» cucumbers, and bean sprouts. Lee’s seems as timeless as ever it did, and although a modest establishment, it has held its niche for more than half my life span. Long may it run!

Finally made it here to have lunch last Friday after reading all of the terrific reviews. I work less than a mile away so it’s the perfect location. After reviewing the menu I decided to try the Woo Dong which was a soup with noodles, squid, mushrooms, and some other doo dads. It was delicious and it was so huge that I took the rest home and ate on it three other times. It was the perfect dish for a cold rainy day. The service was fast, friendly and helpful.
