Pleasantly surprised with Loop 22… based on the website and menu I was expecting a fancy restaurant but it was a casual neighborhood kind of place. I had the Nashville hot chicken which was good… not too hot and not too bland. I like spicy and this was not hot but it was flavorful. The pickles were interesting I thought they were thin onion rings at first but then you get the flavor. The atmosphere is very casual and relaxing that we started taking and hadn’t realized that we had sat there and talks for over two hours… definitely a comfortable place. I’m a little sad that it is closing at the end of the month but I am hopeful because they are suppose to reopen in the same location with a new restaurant soon… keeping my fingers crossed that it will have he same comfortable feel and delicious food.

I went here with a group of 12 for my friend’s bachelorette weekend. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was delicious. Every single person at the table absolutely loved what they ordered. I got the chorizo skillet which was awesome. If I lived in Louisville I would be here every weekend. I highly recommend checking Loop 22 out!

They were out of the one thing i wanted on the menu. «The HeartBreaker» it truly was a Heart Breaker.

Went for Brunch. Still smelled like the night before but considering it was the morning after the Kentucky Derby, that was understandable. I had the wild mushroom omelette with hash browns which was pretty decent. Friend had Ham and egg sandwich(warning: egg is over easy soft) which hit the spot. Mimosas were sparse. Service was a little slow. It was good experience overall.

Super sad about the food because, I have heard such great things about this place. We had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and they were amaze balls!. I ordered the vegetarian cassoulet for my meal. It was so salty, I felt like I ate something from the ocean. but awkwardly enjoyed it because the flavor was on point. However, I hate to be «salty pants» because the service was excellent and the food had potential. Just next time I hope my food will be less salty!

Food was great but they double charged my debit card and over 2 weeks later still haven’t returned the funds. I’ve called twice and both times assured this was taken care of but I’m still waiting. Disappointing because the food was good, but customer service and communication is terrible.

I was excited to try this place. It wasn’t what I expected. The décor wasn’t what I expected. Lots of painted over wood paneling and bar tables and chairs that you would find at the a bowling ally. I just expected more considering the prices and the menu, that I had previously looked up and was excited to try. On to the food. It was very good! We had the lobster queso. It was served with homemade chips and pitas. Both the chips and the pitas were greasy. Wasn’t a fan of that but it tastes good. Next I ordered the lamb stroganoff it was sooo good. It was pretty rich so I couldn’t finish it but it will be great leftovers. My man ordered the angus buger and loved loved loved it. The service was good and attentive but I did notice that when we left, a kitchen worker and a couple servers(including the one that served our table) were outside smoking next to where we parked our car. It was just a little tacky. Overall, my husband loved it and now that I know what to expect. We will probably give it another try. Maybe even try their brunch! I’d love to update my review with and extra star.

Think bar atmosphere with outstanding food. Wine and beer selection above average. Service friendly with a neighborhood feel. We like eating at the bar and it’s all about the food and the fun crowd. Parking is tough but the adjacent CVS is good if it’s not too crowded. A go-to place for us!

Ate here tonight with a group of eight for a birthday celebration, only one of us had eaten her previously. We’re a pretty picky bunch, and yet somehow we made it out without a single negative thing to say about this place. Our food was amazing! Spring Roll, Spinach Florentine, and Oysters were perfect appetizers and our steaks, heart attacks(bacon wrapped chicken with pulled pork in the middle), tacos, and sandwiches were all individually wonderful. I had the ½ chicken and found it to be moist, full of flavor, and WAY too much food for just me. Good thing they had to-go boxes! Our waitress was more than accommodating, recommended a great wine to pair with our entrees and even was thoughtful enough to light a candle for my friends birthday desert. She seemed to have the whole front dining room to herself and from what i could see was great at her job. I don’t normally rave about service, but the short haired girl with the glasses is one of the best waitresses I’ve ever had in my entire life. They seemed to be busy(we had a 6:30 reservation and the place was full when we arrived) so make sure you get a reservation to avoid a long wait.

I have been hesitating to write this review. Mostly because i am disappointed with a place I was very excited to try. We had a group of 8(4 couples) for a friends birthday a couple of weeks ago. We had reservations at 7 and they were running a few minutes behind seating us– but no biggie. When we got seated– the server took our drink orders right away but it took a very long time to get them. Most people just ordered beer– I ordered a martini– and it came out about 10 minutes later than everyone else’s drink. Did the server just forget to put it in? Probably– and that happens sometimes– so once again — no biggie. Each couple ordered appetizers. We ordered the mussels. Pretty good– but way too much garlic. I love messels and have had way better. Not impressed so far with the food. By the time our appetizers were done– we all had empty drinks and no one came to ask if we needed another until our entrees arrived. Starting to get a bit frustrated. I ordered the lobster tacos and my husband ordered ½ roasted chicken. My tacos lacked flavor and the tortillas were cold. My husband’s chicken skin wasn’t crispy at all and the mashed potatoes were cold. Disappointed. The best thing I tasted was a bite of my friend’s grits. They were delicious. The server knew it was a birthday celebration but never even asked if we wanted dessert. He simply dropped the checks off and walked away. The worst part came next– the host came to our table and said, «No rush– but there are 2 other reservations waiting for a table.» Wow– we weren’t lingering to chat. We were just paying our tabs and discussing where to go next. Our group was classy and considerate and we didn’t even complain about the cold food, etc. That was just plain rude. Will I give it another chance? Probably. I hate to judge based off one experience. Although, we did spend $ 85 and there are way too many fabulous places to get great food in Louisville for less.

The lamb nachos were love!!! Pure love!!! The waiter was also knowledgable as to what I could eat on my gluten free diet, which was nice. Their greens were the bomb! Pretty pumped to go again, the only issue there is finding a place to park!

The following is a review of the Sunday Brunch… The menu is solid. Vegetarian option, check! Pancakes and French toast, check! Rotisserie in one form or the other, check! I ordered the vegetable frittata, which comes with a biscuit and skillet potatoes for $ 7. I got about $ 12 worth of food. The frittata itself was pretty good. The vegetable to egg ratio was a little off. I’d like to see either a little more egg, or the vegetables chopped in a different way. As is, the vegetables are cubed and it throws off the texture you would usually find in a frittata. The bacon is cooked perfectly if you like a dry, crispy bacon, which I do. I ate four slices and feel no remorse. My beau got the EBLT, and from the one bite I managed to steal, I realized I ordered the wrong thing. Next time, I’m coming for you EBLT! Atmosphere was nice and laid back. Will definitely come back to try dinner.

If there is one thing history has taught us, it is that greatness often breeds greatness. Birthed from the same culinary collective that brought Louisville the current darlings Hammerheads and Game, Loop meets the expectations set by the two previous ventures while maintaining it’s own identity. This is not a snap judgement based on a one time experience. Loop has worked it’s way nicely into my weekly roster of patronage since it’s arrival. Nestled comfortably on the peninsula of the Douglas Loop, it embodies the spirit of good times and friendly faces that you’d expect of a neighborhood joint. Yet, still gracefully showcases the hip attitude of the city’s burgeoning foodie culture with it’s eclectic(and mostly local) artistic décor backboned by their enticing and comfortably experimental menu. It’s staffed by attentive, but unoppressive, knowledgeable smiling faces. You’ll feel at ease. Let me tell you a little bit about myself: I am not an adventurous eater despite having more than a handful of close friends and compatriots with a strong foothold in the Louisville dining industry. While they never miss an opportunity to mock my seemingly uninspired tastes, I continue to eat my meat well done, I like my pizzas pepperoni, and I’ve never met a condiment I enjoyed. That being said, when Im at Loop I often find myself tempted by the more creative flavor concepts that they offer… and liking them. If you’ve lived in Louisville for any length of time, you realize that while we are very proud of our local successes, we like nothing more than to find a reason to shit talk. Louisvillian blood is thicker than water, but we are a critical people. To quote Morrissey, «We hate it when our friends become successful». While I think there are things that could be done differently(as I would of any establishment not run by myself), this place gives me little room to nitpick. The prices are on point, the portions are perfect. The cocktails inspired. Im not gonna spoon feed you the entire contents of the menu, just go.

Initially I thought I was stepping into a pretentious hipster bar however I was mistaken. The service staff could not of been friendlier they were quick and efficient and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was very tasty came out very hard the only critique I would have is that our food did not all come up together

The lady and I shared a fine meal here tonight! We both had the brussel sprouts salad. OMG, divine! She had a very tasty chicken and dumplins, very modern recipe(definitely not Granny’s recipe). I had the rotisserie duck sandwich; both amazing and worth the trip. Nice casual ambiance. Tasty hops. Great service. Def reccommend.

We didn’t eat here, just had a cocktail. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. So-so Manhattan. The bartender was a tad too interested in hanging with his friends… I am eager to come back and try some of the food.

My family and I went here on Friday 7÷18÷14 for dinner. We were seated in the very back room(this area has about 7 or 8 tables). The décor was nothing special but whatever. The first thing we noticed was an awful sewer like stench. At first we thought it was a fluke but the intensity fluctuated up and down throughout the evening. This should have been a clue to leave NOW, but we were hungry and decided to stay. We ordered drinks, but they were somewhat watered down(no reason to come back for those). We started with some appetizers that were overall pretty good so we thought this may be ok. Once we ordered our main entrees we waited about 1 hour and 10 minutes before they arrived. During this time someone from the kitchen would walk through the back room area every 15 minutes or so with a hot pan with onions and peppers sizzling to mask the stench. They never said a word but we knew what they were doing. This is now on my top 10 list of bizarre restaurant encounters. After about 45 minutes(I know you are thinking we waited 45 minutes before asking) I found our waitress and inquired about our entrees asking if the kitchen perhaps lost our ticket. She said«the cook just asked a question about your order so it is coming very soon». The food finally arrived. 2 of us had the BBQ duck sandwich and it was not bad. I had the lobster with a grit cake something. The lobster was pathetic as it was the very small shell variety(I have had jumbo prawns the size of the lobster). I am sure it was frozen with freezer burn. The grit cake had an almost off-putting taste as it was way too salty(maybe the grit cake was the source of the stench; ok that was a cheap shot). One of the worse executed dishes I have had in a long time. One of us had the cheeseburger. He said it was«not bad» but too salty. There goes the salt again. 2 of us order the grilled fish with a salad type of side dish(I forgot what it was). My 2 family members were trying to keep it somewhat healthy/low fat. When their dish arrived it did not have the salad as the menu stated but a load of grits. The waitress said they did not have the salad so they gave them grits. Really, without coming back to the table and asking what they would like instead. They then ordered a side of vegetables that were somewhat watery. Like many of you I go to a good deal of restaurants every week and this was the worst experience I have had in a few years. I almost forgot to mention that when the various folks delivered our food(not always our waitress) several times I saw their fingers or thumb over the edge of the plate or bowl into the food side of the dish. It is basic server 101 to never allow your fingers on the inside of a bowl, plate or glass. The overall execution was horrible. I am convinced this place does not have a chef but cooks that have been somewhat trained on how to prepare these dishes and have lost their way since originally trained(training could have been bad or nonexistence). I will never come back here and I will warn as many people as I can to stay away.

The entire feel of this place is an utter fail in my opinion. The duck fat cocktail was a double fail. Ew. The one redeeming quality of this were the unexpectedly over the top and absolutely incredible wings. If I find myself back there, I will definitely be ordering the wings. I will have to agree with the reviewers below that the service was excellent — attentive and willing to joke around with us the whole time. Is it too much to ask to overhaul the entire interior? :-/

I’m still not sure how I feel about the food. It’s inventive, tastes fine, but doesn’t have the wow factor that will keep me coming back. The dishes are pricey, main dishes($ 15-$ 28), unless you do sandwiches($ 10-$ 13) or small plates/appetizers($ 6-$ 13). I enjoyed the brussell sprout salad, slightly grilled and crunchy. The biscuit for the ham slider was a bit doughy and dried, making my experience less enjoyable. I tasted my friend’s bbq duck’s sandwich, which has a strong duck smell, so a turn off for me. I’m willing to give it another try because the food has potential. But my first visit was definitely a miss. Skip this if you want to impress a date. The place reeked of sewage when we came in, but the inside spacious and clean.

I took the wife here and had a really nice time. We chose a Tuesday night and we’re seated immediately(after hearing some folks have had to wait a long time due to the chefs pedigree and popularity). One delicious dish after another came on our way. Server was friendly and efficient. I can’t wait to go back there and try the items I didn’t last time. Parking is a premium so it is nice to live close and walk… Especially with a full bar service available!
