My girlfriend and I were moving within Louisville about 2 miles from one house to another. We were nervous about moving as out of every service out there, moving companies are the one’s that you really never know what your getting until after the move is over. I first looked around online and Mac’s was the place that jumped out for 2 reasons: 1– They had the best overall comments from google reviews as well as Unilocal and the white/yellow pages 2 — They had an A rating on the better business bureau site with a very good history. I called and spoke to a lady(forget her name but pretty sure she is always the one answering the phone). I gave her my list of items and she made sure to go through every single room in our current house as well as asking questions that made me realize we had a few more things then I had noted down before calling. She then went on to give me a quote as well as tell me that she would send 3 men instead of the standard 2 that most companies sent so that the guys wouldn’t get tired. She explained that they charge by how long it takes so if guys get tired and go slow it costs me more. To be honest, I didn’t actually believe her when she told me this and for the size of our move I assumed she was lying and would only send 2 guys. The day of the move came and they were right on time. To my surprise they actually sent 4 guys and when I filled out the paper work right as they were getting started they had me for 3 guys. Right after I signed they realized they had more guys then I was paying for but right away one of them says«don’t count me as I’m only helping to get you guys going». Sure enough he helped out for 15 – 20 minutes before leaving and with the size of our move that was a lot of help. Everyone was constantly working and careful with our furniture and items. They packed things well in the truck without taking a ridiculous amount of time to pad things up but did things exactly the way they should be done. Not one thing was ruined or damaged in our move. At one point they couldn’t get one of our couches in to our den and went ahead and took the door off and tried again. They still couldn’t get the couch in so they went to another door and had to then go down stairs with a railing and very low ceiling and managed to get the couch in. They could have easily given up and said it wouldn’t fit but they made it work. My girlfriend and I sat there and commented to ourselves that we bet they«forget» to put the door back on before they leave. Well, surprise, surprise they absolutely did NOT forget and put the door back without a mention from either of us. They actually finished moving us in less then an hour and a half total. That includes getting to our first house, loading everything up, driving to the new house and unloading everything. They also put everything where we asked them and didn’t half ass it and just put things in the first room through the door. The clincher was the that the final price was almost 15% LOWER then what was quoted. Obviously the big thing is being honest about what you have(number of items and description), how far the drive is, how many stairs or things of that nature that make the move more difficult, tiring and time consuming. I would HIGHLY recommend Mac’s Moving to anyone in Louisville as they did an amazing job and were honest and good people.
