I check it out for the first time today and the very second that I took the first sip, it was instant relief as far as how I felt from the taste to the overall product. I don’t know what it was about the cup that I had and this might sound crazy but I’m feeling better than I have for a while. You talk about a mega pick-me-up. It was a shot of dopamine without a doubt. The atmosphere is gorgeous and the overall taste is out of this out of this world. My day made a 180. I have a new place to study my LSAT and I plan on buying some books in the near future.

This place is the stuff hipsters dream of. Little hole in the wall in a very nondescript part of town, half art studio, half used bookstore/coffee shop. Very good coffee. The espresso was above average. The brownie batter latte was a glorified mocha, but still very good. A nice quiet atmosphere with a pleasant barista and plenty of reading material. I recommend it.

A friend of mine really likes this place so I thought I’d go down to Portland and check it out. Great vibe early afternoon, good brewed coffee and I like the unlimited refill option. Had a good sandwich also. My only critique or more of a suggestion is to address lack of seating and plugs for computers. I went to work on my computer for a couple of hours and every table was taken even though there were probably only a dozen people there. Plenty of space in back room for café tables but maybe that’s a performance space. I’m also mostly an evening person, hoping for late night hours someday so I can spend more time here, I really like it.

Louisville’s most literate coffeehouse? Yes! It’s also a bookstore. McQuixote is a great place, perhaps my favorite in town, to take a friend when in-depth conversation is the order of the day. Mickey, the proprietor and Mc in the establishment’s name, is friendly and energetic and also happens to be a fine barista. Very much enjoyed my first visit here(after waiting far, far too long to make the trek).

This place is great. Amazing coffee, totally unassuming location. Quite the hidden gem. Thanks Trevor for the hospitality and, quality brew and book selection. Next time we’re in town we’ll be sure to stop back!

The coffee is good… The service is nice… However, the place has to be at least 90 degrees on the inside and the Internet does not work. Not a good spot to stay and hangout with friends, but good for coffee on the go. Too bad really, it could be a fun spot.

I was surprised that their hours are listed as 7 to 7 fit this area. But, at 7:50am on a Thursday, it is shut up tight. Maybe another day at a later time.

McQuixote is an eclectic mix of coffee, books, and art! The building is industrial chic — fitting for the connection to Faulkner gallery. The entrance to the shop offers a local book shop vibe. Tucked just inside a glassed library is the coffee window. Try the Cortadito Gordito. Think cappucino with a sweet, caramel-ly hint of maple syrup. Very tasty! After you grab a cup and peruse the books, head over to the gallery. Comfortable couches and chairs share space with some of Louisville’s best art!

Such a fun space! Wide selection of used books and great lattes. This would be a perfect space for reading or getting some writing time in due to the cubby-like book area, but there is also plenty of space for socializing. Check it out!

Coffee shops are often just as much about the ambiance as they are the coffee itself. And Based on the signage out front and the initial seating area when you walk through the doors, I wasn’t sure this place would make the cut. The first table area is sparsely decorated(though I think some art from the gallery next door was hanging on the walls). And I thought maybe I would just get my drink to go. However, by the time I got to the counter, I changed my mind. I would easily come back again, especially if the other seating areas were more comfortable. The one beautiful room, where the library is, is quite cozy, and open and filled with light. All the plants in there add a nice touch. The downside is that it is right next to the kitchen/barista counter, so you over hear EVERYone’s conversations with the barista which distracts from the cool books you’re trying to read in their library. And that got annoying fast. Pluses: Music was mellow and not too loud. Loved all the windows. Totally vegan friendly! They make their lattes(even tea lattes!) from scratch, and they’re delicious! The bartender was very helpful and friendly, too.

This place is a quixotic endeavor that is actually succeeding, and for good reasons: excellent coffee and better used books sold cheap.

Want great coffee, cozy atmosphere, powerful literary events and amazing art all rolled into one place? Then then yourself to McQuixote Books and Coffee. They also serve snacks you won’t regret indulging in, lots of teas and an abundance of smiles worn by some very nice folks. Their once-a-month literary event is an absolute favorite. I love the diversity and talent sharing some very thought provoking work. Check it out!

So my work had me go to Shaheen’s down in Portland, to pick up some winter gear. When I made the transition from 15th Street to Portland Avenue, I saw a wee coffee shop on my left. I had been down this way a couple times before, but I had NEVER seen this coffee shop. After grabbing my winter gear, I knew I had to go back and try it. Worth the trip. Was waited on by super nice guy — Trevor. I asked him to make me something hot and something specific to his coffee shop. He hooked me up with a brownie batter latte. Incredible drink. Tasted about like you think it would. The shop itself is great. Seating it somewhat limited, but it wasn’t busy at all. They have a library of books you can read or even buy, if you like. As well, it was connected to the art gallery. I went and strolled through the art gallery as I sipped my latte. Amazingly beautiful art, and great atmosphere. The coffee at this place was really good. But for me, what sends this coffee shop over the top is the customer service, and the atmosphere of the shop, as well as the art gallery. A very neat feature that you won’t find anywhere else(or if you do, I’m not aware of it). I will definitely be back, and especially since it is so close to my work.

McQuixote is a bit hidden but once you find it you will love it! Attached to the Tim Faulkner gallery this cozy coffee shop can be accessed from either entrance. I love that you can grab a cup and walk around the gallery or cozy up in one of their fancy wing backed chairs in their library nook. They have just about every tea you could imagine. Very fragrant and flavorful. I loved my peppermint tea. They also have a wide range of coffee drinks hot and iced. 4 stars because they were out of scones and large cups, but overall the service is as friendly as can be and the quality is extremely high. #drinklocal

McQuixote is just a hop and a skip from downtown. Its a nice change of pace from the coffee shops downtown. While I was there I tried the Cortadito Gordito and the Horchata. The Cortadito Gordito, is a little more latte than cortadito, but its still really good. The Cortadito is made with sorghum sweetened milk. It adds a nice sweet and smokey flavor to it. The best part is when you get down to the last sip you get an extra sweet surprise, kinda like the last sip of a bowl of cereal. The star of the show was the horchata. It was the perfect blend of light and refreshing and sweet and cinnamony. Definitely worth trying. McQuixote is the perfect space to get some work done, read one of the books laying around, catch up with friend, or roam around the art gallery. I will definitely be back.

A great coffee shop in a one-of-a-kind art gallery — I mean, how can you beat it?!? McQuixote recently opened in the Tim Faulkner Gallery in the Portland area of Louisville, and given my numerous, recent visits to the gallery, McQuixote has been a godsend. McQuixote has a selection of baked goods and sweets(Amore di Mona chocolates!) and a lovely place to enjoy your treats — a small bookstore area with tables. This little shop makes horchata — a cold Latin American beverage — that I have not seen elsewhere. And if coffee is what you’re looking for, they definitely have that too. Today, I enjoyed a pumpkin latte made with the owner’s homemade pumpkin-infused syrup. I feel like everyday I’m coming across more and more reasons to venture to the other side of downtown, to Portland, and McQuixote is definitely one of those. Grab a coffee from McQuixote, venture through the gallery and feel cultured.
