I was super excited when the old run down Ashland Tavern appeared to have gotten a face lift. Soon the building was looking much nicer and was sporting a sign that now reads, «Old rascals Neighborhood Bar» My husbands outing for his birthday was coming up and we decided to check it out. The entrance sports new paint and new signage as well as a few tables out side surrounded by an adorable white picket fence so that you may bring a drink out side in the fenced in area to smoke. Upon entering the first think I noticed were the 4 tall bar tables that could easily seat 6 – 7 on each on and each table has its own flat screen TV. mounted above it. Seems like a great idea for sports events. The second thing I noticed was the chilling AC! I love a place that keeps its patrons cool in a crowded place. Also featured was a huge wrap around bar, plenty of seating here, and a pool table in the back. I also noticed a security system with a TV. mounted so that you can see in the back rooms, makes me feel secure that safety is a concern for owners. We came on karaōke night and the bar was full upon arrival, so when it was time for me to sing my husband who was at the bar couldn’t hear me, which is fine just disappointing. The karaōke guy was a gem, really sweet and even sang a duet with me when I had no partner. The owners were nice, the drinks were reasonable, 2 dollar long necks, 3 dollar wells. I think this place is going to be a success, and I think they aim to bring in some food later, I can’t wait to try it out! I hope this becomes a place where me and my friends that live in this neighborhood(and there are so many!) can go to to hang out, instead of having to drive to the highlands, or where ever.
