Pastry Plus

It’s definitely an unassuming little place. I have some vague memories of having donuts from here as a child, but I have driven by it so many times (in its ancient little shopping center) that sometimes, I forget it’s there.
Then it came time to buy my wedding cake. We first thought about making our own, then decided that was too much stress. We looked all over the city for wedding cakes, and everyone was so atrociously expensive (and most of the time, the cake wasn’t that great.) Then we tried Pastry Plus. We made an appointment to meet with the owner and try some cake, and talk about prices and designs. I loved the cake, and I am not a cake person. It was incredibly moist and had good bounce to it, like a sponge (rather than crumbling like thicker or drier cakes.) There were several options for fillings and flavors, and we chose some layers with strawberry inside, some with white chocolate. I wasn’t a bridezilla and didn’t have a very clear vision in my head of what I wanted my cake to look like– other than I wanted it to be all white, no flowers, with little dots. I saw a cake like that in a magazine, and I loved the dots. They were simple and classy, yet modern and chic. I know I was really vague in my description, but the owner really came through for us, taking my fuzzy ideas and descriptions and turning into exactly what I was hoping for. We also ordered a groom’s cake– chocolate, my husband’s favorite. He loved it. Living in Louisville, all the bakers offer options for UK fans, and fans of that other team. We chose a Wildcat design, and it turned out great. As an added bonus, the owner was able to figure out a way to support our incredibly heavy cake topper (a Precious Moments figurine) without it falling through the cake. :)
We were so happy with the results. As I said, I don’t usually eat cake (though I will *always* have a cupcake) but this cake was delicious. I wish that we had eaten more of it!

Really like this place, the doughnuts are excellent, the staff is very friendly and helpful! I’ve only had their doughnuts, but if their cake are as delicious as their doughnuts then I can see why this place is a hit! They are open until they sell out, if you’re looking to buy more than a few dozen, you can call ahead the night before leave a message on the answering service and they will have it ready to go when you arrive. I would suggest the Reese filled doughnut people love them at work!

Best doughnuts ever! Made fresh daily and sell out quickly. They aren’t open all day. They close when everything is sold out.
