Another fantastic experience at O’Shea’s. My wife, daughter and I had great food and exemplary service. My daughter, who has Down Syndrome, was treated like a queen. This has happened multiple times by multiple staff members here. This time, bartender Benjamin was the knight in shining armor who made it all about our daughter. Thanks, O’Shea’s. You’re a class act with a great staff.

A friend & I came in late one night after work & were pleasantly greeted by a bearded bartender. He went by a nickname(that I of course can’t remember now) but he was one of those people who just makes you smile! He was soft spoken, polite, kind, & totally old school. He made me a delicious chocolate/raspberry truffle type martini that was exactly what I was looking for, and my friend had one of the ginger cocktails from their drink list. We also ordered 2 appetizers to share, which came out very quickly & hot. The fried cheese balls were incredible! There weren’t many people in the bar that night & we were not smothered or ignored which is rare when a restaurant/bar is slow. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening & I will definitely be back if not just to have that same bartender again, because he made our night!

This place is fantastic! Super cool atmosphere, food is delicious, and friendly wait staff. We were here on a fantastic November day, they opened up the huge front door that lead out to the front(small but I think it’s under construction) patio. A few TVs across the bar, it just enough to catch up on a couple games but not every game. Beer is average price and they have plenty for everyone’s pallet.

A local, wedding designer/planner and also an events coordinator at the largest spirits producer in the world I was attempting to plan our annual holiday party. Since I have designed and planned for a wedding and a published photo shoot at O’Sheas before I thought that their Penthouse/Rooftop space would be a great space for our Holiday affair. While the space is beautiful I was utterly disappointed and disgusted, quite frankly, with the level of hospitality I received from the events manager. I waited nearly 40 minutes for my scheduled appointment with her and when she finally arrived she never once apologized to me but rather complained of how busy she is(I’m sorry, I just took time from my busy day to drive downtown to meet with you). Following up her trail of disrespect she did not know who she was meeting with and asked if I was there to interview. After the 3 minutes of talking she then let me know that the space I was looking at was no longer available(this definitely could have been mentioned in an email). What a complete waste of my time! I have truly never been so disgusted by the blatant disregard! Losing my wedding business and my corporate business!

I arrived in town late for a conference. I started walking and found some chatter on patio and stopped on. This is a nice bar, lots of wood and very comfortable. Plus it is open late(2am during week and 4am on Friday-Saturday). Kitchen was open until midnight(at least on Wednesday). Taylor was my bartender, she was very friendly and helped me choose local brews. I didn’t catch the male bartender’s name, but he was friendly as well. Good crowd and nice place I ordered some fried green tomatoes and the we’re pretty good, at least for a late night snack.

The service is amazing. The food is outstanding as well. If you’re looking for a perfect Guinness pour, this is the place. Kevin is a great bartender that makes sure you feel welcome and important. Each drink is pour with careful craftsmanship. You can tell the employees enjoy working here, not to mention knowledgable as well.

Really great food. Wontons, scotch eggs and O’Shea’s 1958 sandwich. We dined outside and it was a great atmosphere.

Very nice place. Open and very clean. See I’ve was excellent. It was three of us that came in for lunch. The lunch portions where very nice with the exception the coleslaw was very small. Need a little more on the potion of the slaw. Just a thought! However the food was very tasty and on time. The pretzel bread and beer cheese was off the chain! Thank you for the good service!

As a visitor to Louisville, Patrick O’Sheas is wonderful by simple virtue of being close to stuff I, a visitor, might want to see or do in downtown Louisville. Ignoring that convenience, however, the food and the beer certainly make this place worth a visit. A good number of brews are on draft, with a variety sufficient to support their otherwise slightly pricey drinks(NB: as a former Minneapolis denizen, I find these beer prices extraordinary for the value– $ 6.50 for a pour of an 8% bourbon ale is pretty darn reasonable) The food is pretty spot on too– we originally picked this place because the Louisville visitor site recommends it for Benedictine. The Benedictine BLT is pretty great– it’s crunchy, bacony, and creamy. Shoot your diet in the foot by pairing it up with some beer cheese, which is something that I was a) thrilled to see exists outside Wisconsin, and b) genuinely excited to be eating. The Reuben wontons are pretty on point too– for me, the best part of the Reuben is everything inside the sandwich(eg the beef and the kraut). By dispensing with the fluffy rye bread in favor of a deep fried wonton wrapper, the beef to bread ratio is substantially improved and lets you really taste the meaty goodness that makes the Reuben so irresistible. Portions are large– I shared with the lady friend and we still took a filled-to-the-gills box. Come hungry. Service was friendly(and knowledgeable, a must when the beer list is as long and varied as it is), and music was appropriately volumed. Granted, our waitress tacitly suggested this to not be the case on weekends. If you like it quiet, pick a sleepy weeknight or your experience may not reflect mine.

This is a great Irish pub! Great wood, great marble, great mirrors… everything an Irish pub should be. We were greeted promptly and had great service all night. Good beer selection and fantastic whiskey selection. Bartender hooked us up with suggestions on eating and drinking while in Louisville. We did not eat so don’t know about the food but we will be back for drinks! Fun crowd and very clean and we’ll lit… We go to a lot of Irish Pubs and this is up with the best of them!

I’ve gotta say, 3.5 stars is pretty spot on for this place. The pros: –They serve food late. I believe we ordered after 11 p.m. We walked down here to go to Toll Pub Under the Bridge, but they had already stopped serving food. –The menu has a decent variety and isn’t expensive. –Our server was friendly –The décor was relaxing with nice big wood booths, making our meal more private than at a table in the center of the space. The cons: –The food is nothing special. I had the sticky ribs which were drenched in bbq sauce and a spinach and goat cheese salad with the tiniest little specs of goat cheese. Like, so little cheese, you couldn’t taste it. –Our server was friendly, but busy, thus not checking on us very often. –I wasn’t particularly excited about the beer list. Not a single fruit-infused summer beer, like a shandy or grapefruit ale. Overall, if you need a late meal, this place has a nice atmosphere! If you are looking for a «good» meal, I’d suggest trying somewhere else.

I had drinks here when I was killing time before a concert at KFC Yum Center. It’s location was convenient. The place was packed, dark and kind of noisy but you could still hold a conversation. Despite the amount of patrons, bartenders got to everyone fairly quickly. I would go back here again if I was going to another show at KFC.

I love this place! God beer menu and the food is good. Get the Reuben. Guinness is fresh because people drink it here. If you need a good bourbon they have that too. If there is a show in town at the YUM center stop in here. It’s less then a block away and you can pre game a little.

This has been a go-to for us the past couple years when we are downtown but I think that may change after our experience this weekend. They changed the menu! It used to be a big menu with lots of great choices but they slashed it to a handful of choices. One of the items they got rid of was my husbands favorite: the buffalo chicken sandwich. We felt really bad about taking family here because the menu wasn’t what we’d told them. Our server also brought the check with our food — it was really weird. The food we did order was good but we will probably head somewhere else in the future. They have the same stuff(fish and chips, Reuben, lamb stew, chicken fingers) at other Irish pub style restaurants in Louisville plus a lot more.

Really cool interior and the bathroom is pretty cool too(not in a weird way). I came here with the recommendation that I had to get the beer cheese. And it did not disappoint! I’m lactose sensitive and I didn’t care! For the main course I got the burger with tater tots as my side, which I thought was a nice change in pace from the usual burger and fries. The burger was of poor quality and over cooked. I thought I made a safe choice by ordering the burger but I was sorely mistaken… should have stuck with the beer cheese. Our waitress injured her finger and had a splint on and was serving a large group of us, I felt terrible! She was very sweet and hooked some of my friends with extra french fries because his order took longer than everyone else.

I came here around 9pm with a group of friends. We were in town for a wedding and we were meeting up with the bride and groom the night before the wedding. The place was packed with rehearsal dinners in progress, but we were still led to a fairly large booth area, as we told the hostess more people were coming. I ordered a mint julep. They were out of mint. I ordered a beer. They were out of the kind I ordered. Not prepared for a Friday night, I see. I also didn’t care for the blaringly loud music. Granted, the booth was located directly under a speaker, but by about 10pm, the music was so loud you couldn’t even hear the person next to you anymore. I don’t live in the area, but if I didn’t, I probably wouldn’t go back.

My second visit back to Patrick O’Shea’s has me yearning for more. A great place for a proper pint from the wonderful beer selection. If you are more of a bourbon fanatic, this place has a very nice selection of some of KY’s finest bourbons. As a business owner, it is always comforting when an establishment makes customer service a priority. The moment I walked into the bar, I was greeted with a smile and a polite conversation. Multiple bourbons later, I found myself having a conversation with the Assistant General Manager, who invited my friend and I to tour the building. To our surprise, this facility if full of history, character and ambiance. The Bourbon Cellar seems like a great place for a group of friends to enjoy drinks before heading out to a show. If you are looking to host a private function, one of the private facilities on the second and third floors may be more your style. We were treated to a visit on the newly completed rooftop bar. This was more my style… add a cigar and another fine bourbon and I would be in heaven. If you are looking for a nice hang out with great people, beer and spirits, this is the perfect spot for you!

Ew. That’s the only word that comes to mind to sum up my experience at O’Shea’s. My friend and I went there on an impulse when we were strolling down town one night. I assumed being an Irish pub, that they would have something resembling Irish food. Nope. What Irish pub doesn’t have shepherd’s pie?! Just your run-of-the-mill bar food — and incredibly over priced. We ordered a spinach and artichoke dip appetizer, my friend ordered buffalo chicken(that came out BBQ) and I ordered chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and a side salad. The place was dead, but the service was incredibly slow. We waited nearly 30 minutes for the appetizer and I must say it was the worst spinach and artichoke dip I’ve ever had. It was a little bit of spinach in a really thick cream sauce with a couple of very, very mushy artichokes. There was no cheese, no garlic, and very little spinach. It was served with a loaf of stale bread. The spinach dip had a really weird after taste, too — I’m assuming because it was from a can. It was also really small — especially for $ 8. I’m not even super picky about spinach dip — but this was just reallllly bad. The side salad was fine, the chicken tenders were good, but they brought fries out with my meal when I ordered mashed potatoes. It literally took another 10 – 15 minutes to get«freshly made» mashed potatoes. They were under seasoned and very chunky — which was fine, but the chunks were undercooked. I’d bet money that they microwaved a couple of potatoes and mashed them up. I’m sure this place is fine as a bar — they had good drink selection and their specials were good. But don’t go for the food — total let down.

Since the last time I was here, they have made some changes. To the décor, seating and menu. The front area now has some higtop tables and cozy looking seats. It is much more inviting. Not that it was cold before, but it leaves an impression now. The menu has had some changes. I have loved the Kentucky Proud Pork Burger. Which they still have, but the honey mustard sauce has changed. The beer cheese was good, but it was strange to have it served with a small loaf of bread that needs to be sliced… I’m used to having big soft pretzels, chips or hunks of bread. It’s really good, it was just a little strange. So the food is good. Our server at lunch on 1÷26÷13 was fantastic, think his name may have been John. A very good, tasty lunch!
