A true Louisville treasure! If you like/love beer then this is the place. So, so many choices(pick a country and start trying them out). Good food, quiet atmosphere, a real special place.

Amazing beer selection! We always find something delicious and meet cool people there. Highly recommend for anyone who loves beer in an unpretentious setting.

Heaven is truly a place on earth and it is found here. I was intimidated by the prospect of coming here with so many beer choices how could I ever choose? It is still difficult for me but the joy is in the hunt and you could be hunting for hours here browsing through coolers and coolers of imported and domestic beer. I knew I loved this place whenever I saw a bottle of Bud Light in the fridge on sale for $ 99.00(I do believe it is down to $ 89.00 last time we went though). This is the place to try something new and get recommendations from fellow beer geeks. Sergio is usually around too to help if you show interest. Last time we went I noticed large screens with the descriptions of the beers on tap. Sergio was standing nearby and said this was done by his son whenever he was out of town. He seemed indifferent about it but personally I loved it. He has a huge(& ever changing tap list) so this helped. The guys that work the bar also know their beer too. I highly doubt Sergio would have patience for them if they didn’t. One point of this place that needs to be made sure is known — it is CASHONLY. You pay at the end. It’s on the honor system(you never see this anymore) so you tell the bartender what you had before you leave and they tally it up. This worried me at first — won’t people lie? Not the people that come here. Sergio trusts his customers just like we trust him to have the most unique beer selection in Louisville.

This place is an oddity to say the least, but boy do they have one of the best beer selections I’ve ever seen. Plenty of great beers on tap, and what you can’t get on tap you most certainly can find in a bottle. For those of you who fancy yourself a beer connoisseur this is the place to visit while in Louisville. The staff is unbelievably knowledgeable. Prices are a little high, but this place is worth a visit.

What is wrong with you KY?! This place is subpar at best. Perhaps it’s because I’m a Milwaukee gal, living in a superb beer city… We went here on Unilocal’s recommendations– it was hot and smelled of your grandpa’s basement… Sure the beers were impressive, but we do better.(Yeah WI!). The dude who worked there didn’t give a crap about anything– suggestions for their patrons or even the right beer glass for the right beer… Don’t bother. If I’m paying $ 11 for a beer, it’s a LITER of delicious German beer, not some bottle of beer at a stinky establishment.

Honestly, this is probably my favorite bar I’ve ever been to. If I lived here, I’d be a regular. HUGE beer selection, owner is an awesome and friendly guy, relaxed atmosphere… can’t ask for more

Unbelievable find in Louisville on my quest for souvenirs. Don’t be fooled by the front room, the coolers just keep going and going. I have never seen such a selection in my life. This guy must have a hookup in every state. I blew about $ 100 and got some stuff to make my friends jealous. Prices are a little steep here, so be prepared to pay up for the stuff that you can’t get elsewhere. When you carry that much inventory, it is totally expected and I happily paid. This place is also cash only, however they have an ATM in the bar area. Food is okay, and they keep a decent list on draft. Employees are really nice and knowledgeable. Go here.

Cool and cozy little place on a cold spring evening. Quite a selection of taps(and some greats like Chimay Blue and Schneider Aventinus) and maybe 25 or more others and another 1700 bottles! Never seen a set up like this anywhere this side of Washington D.C. Bartender(Sergio) quite friendly-interested in the breweries in my Florida hometown-not any sort of been snob-I asked him if he had a lager-he asked me if I could be more specific-I said a Pils-he asked German or Czech – I said Pilsner Urquell of course«great choice!» he added and served it up in a tall Urquell glass to boot! Interesting menu-now I don’t know if I’d try ceviche hundreds of miles from the Gulf but maybe next time – anyway everything he served up looked pretty good. I will be back for sure!

Oh god, I’m in love. This is like one of those dreams I have where I’m getting schnockered on a treasure hunt. My husband had been talking about Sergio’s ever since he stopped by on business in Louisville. We were in town so I wanted to check it out. These guys have every beer you could possibly fathom tucked into fridges and coolers and cold storage rooms throughout the building. I spent my first half hour or so just wandering around. My husband had to threaten to leave if I didn’t pick something just to get me to decide on my first beer. They have lots of bombers, bottles, cans, and a good tap list to boot. You can find a beer from pretty much any country in the world here. They also have a food menu, but I didn’t try it out. The ambiance is pretty chilled out — it’s like a sort of grungy diner. The clientele seems to be mostly local, but everybody was pretty friendly(and why wouldn’t you be friendly with that much good beer around?) If I won the lottery, I’d buy a house across the street from Sergio’s and work my way through their stock until I died with a smile on my face. As it is, I’ll be back whenever I’m in Louisville. Oh, cash only! There’s an ATM inside.

If you want beer come here that is all. So many choices on draft and bottles. There were a few draft options that were at 17%! That was a first for me. Note this is really not a bar to listen to music and chill. More like a market with a couple seats at the bar to enjoy your beer.

This might be the best bar in the city. It is DEFINITELY the best bar in the city for beer, and it isn’t even close. A bit divey. Don’t be deceived by what you see as soon as you walk in. The front room area has a 5⁄6 seat bar, several beers on tap, and a few refrigerators full of beer that you’ve likely never heard of. But don’t stop there. Go through the hall to the back of the restaurant, and behold the splendor. Beer abounding. Beer everywhere. All kinds. From everywhere. Loved it. A bit more expensive than other places, but worth the extra cost. Trust me. Go to Sergio’s and be overwhelmed.

This place is freakin’ awesome. I love Sergio’s so hard. The atmosphere is the coolest and most unique you’ll find. It feels like you’re just hanging out — which you are. Of course, the coolest part… there are cases and cases of beers from all over the world. It’s really interesting to see the different types of beer from different countries. There are tens of thousands of beers to choose from, so this place can never get old. Equally as cool, you«serve yourself» by picking whichever beer you want from the cases. You pay at the end of the night, and they run on the honor system. Just hold onto your bottles all night and bring them to the bartender to pay. So laid back and awesome. I’ll definitely be making Sergio’s a frequent stop.

Yes, great beer selection. That’s it. It’s basically a beer store with some tables. We were a party of 10 – 12, all with menus, and a few had ordered appetizers. When we went to order more food, we were told that the kitchen was closed — at 8:45 on a Friday night. So, if you want a great beer selection from a hole in the wall joint, this is the place to go. If you want atmosphere or food, seek it elsewhere.

I finally made it to Sergio’s! After hearing so much about it on Unilocal,I met friends there last night to toast someone’s birthday. It’s on Story Ave. You will see everything but Sergio’s. No signage, covered windows, dark street. So be prepared to ask yourself, «Did I go too far?» and if you passed Vernon Lanes, the answer is «Yes, yes you did.» Inside is very shot gun with the bar in front and tables in the rear of the building. Its main décor is coolers of beer. No, seriously, coolers and coolers of beer, from all over and ranging from $ 4 — 25+ each. Sergio’s also keeps a small selection of beers on tap. It’s fun to look through the coolers and pick a different beer each time. What I didn’t grab, my friends let me sample from theirs. The bartender will open & pour it for you and everything is nice & cold. Make sure you also pay attention to the alcohol % … some are quite high and after a couple, you’re going to notice the bite. I enjoyed a pale IPA, called California Pale Ale. Truth be told, I loved the trapeze-looking blond flying across the label, but I drank two more of them because it was smooth. Couple of warnings: CASHONLY. And food isn’t served every night so don’t let the website fool you.(I do wish there was something available last night though — even a bag of pretzels would’ve made me happy.) Also, go there with fun people. This isn’t a place with music and TVs to distract you. You’re completely reliant upon your own conversation to entertain yourself. Well, that and the coolers and coolers of beer.

Thank you Unilocal for pointing me to Sergio’s. You have to know what you’re looking for to find this place. Non-descript door in the middle of a block on Story and windows covered, you don’t quite know what you’re getting into until you walk in. Speak-easy-esque. And then you walk into what I think of as Cheers with less seating, lack of sassy waitress(erm, server), and a way, WAY bigger selection. I love the bar and really didn’t make it past that point since the coolers were all around us anyway. Brightly lit, beer steins adorning the walls, relaxed and welcoming. The bartender was one of the most knowledgable craft beer drinkers I’ve ever met, steering me from the obscure German gose I had picked out to his recommended pick — another gose of the same vein. If he knows the ‘back of the cooler’ selections enough to make recommendations his knowledge has got to run deep. You can choose from the variety of taps at the bar, each impressively unique, or you can browse the ‘shopping mall of beers’ as one Unilocaler called it by checking out the bottles in the coolers surrounding every inch of non-bar wall space. That was my favorite. Bring your bottles to the bar and they’ll pour for you. I’ve rarely seen a collection of bottled beers like this one, with seasonal rotations from all over, their selection runs deep. My favorite of the night: Bell’s Brewery Cherry Stout. I would fight someone for this beer, and I’m a lover not a fighter. They supposedly have food blah blah why go there for food. They have a few TVs there and a game on(soccer) blah blah why go there for sports. Tip: Bring a six-pack holder. Trust me on this. Then at least you don’t look like a complete lush walking(stumbling??) back to your car because you are going to want to bring some bottles home.

You’re going here for the selection and the selection only. There is no other reason to go here. Not the environment, not the location, not the food(someone told me there is a kitchen and they serve food… you could have and can continue to fool me…). Don’t be surprised if there is a swarm of flies around the sink or trash cans. Deceptively large. Hidden parking lot. ENDLESS selection. Often decent Pandora station playing. CASHONLY(they have an ATM… but you know… service fees…). If you don’t like beer, don’t come here. If you don’t like the very definition of a dive bar, don’t come here. Temper your expectations and enjoy yourself.

These price gougers are charging TENDOLLARS A BOTTLE for Three Floyds Zombie Dust beer? Please… Is it made of Gold? I go to Indianapolis and pay $ 6.50 for a full Pint… this is outrageous. I think the retail price is $ 18 a 6-pack, so they are getting it cheaper then that and have the audacity to charge ten dollars a bottle, I am disgusted. I support a free market and fair profits but this is shady.

Before I stepped into this place, I was not convinced of its awesomeness. I’m not a beer drinker, and I wasn’t looking forward to spending time in a bar without the ability to drink alcohol. However, I was pleasantly surprised. They have hundreds, maybe even thousands, of options. We just kept walking further and further back in a building lined with beer fridges. I still didn’t see anything that I might like, so we asked the bartender for a recommendation. He immediately recommended a beer for the wine and cider lovers out there, and it was definitely unique. So for those non-beer drinkers out there like me, try the duchesse de bourgogne, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s a dark red ale style beer that has a sour fruity wine taste, and at 6% ABV, it comes in right around the same alcohol content as your favorite cider. After finishing my beer, I even spied some Crabbie’s ginger beer, which I will grab a bottle of next time. We also tried their pretzel with hot cheese & the hummus plate. Definitely can’t go wrong with hummus and pita! Plus they heaped a generous pile of feta and a few kalamata olives on the plate as well, and that’s a win in my book. The soft pretzel and hot cheese was nothing to write home about, but it was still good bar food that we ate every bit of it. If you are looking for a bar with a knowledgeable staff, huge beer selection, and chill patronage then head to Sergio’s. You will be amazed and baffled at this hidden gem right here in Louisville.

Shit, this place is awesome. The décor or the beer selection, bottled or on tap. If you walk in from the back parking lot off of Frankfort ave, you walk past all the beer coolers and the dining room in the middle… then past more beer coolers and finally reach the bar. With 1700 beers in the coolers and 20+ on tap you can’t lose here. The bar has beer(or bier) glasses from all over. Mostly Belgium but there are a lot of them for sure. The lighting is perfect, not to dark and not to lit up. The bartender that was working when I was here was great, knowledgeable and friendly. It was also awesome that a rhinegeist rep stopped by and gave us a sample of their October fest. Right place at the right time I guess. Along with the beer I tried the Chile won tons and pretzel. The won tons where awesome, a nice spicy dipping sauce came with them also. Pretzel was great, nice soft and chewy with a great cheese. Nice and mild. Another thing to mention is they were playing only movies on the tv set. First was cable guy, then so I married an axe murderer and then Beverly Hills ninja. All in all I love this place. A+
