It had been some time since I had ordered take out. My memory of it had been good but my actual experience of the food was average. I’m a very basic eater of Chinese food. Sweet and sour chicken is my typical dish. As far as the chicken dish, it was tasty and nicely breaded. They include the usual vegetables — onions, peppers, carrots — and pineapple. The vegetables aren’t cooked or sautéed. Thankfully my sauce was on the side. I’m used to red, sweet sauce but their version is brown and I didn’t gauge any sweetness. I recommend asking for duck sauce for dipping or at least mixing. This dish also came with fried rice. I was not a fan. Dry and extremely salty. Pairing the bite with chicken did tone it down. Overall, I would be willing to visit again but there are so many Chinese restaurant options nearby that are much better and easier on the pocketbook.

Tried their buffet for lunch and was really disappointed with the experience. The food that was on the buffet was dried out and average at best. I arrived at 12:30 on a weekday so I at least expected the food to be fresh. The real problem is that they do not restock the buffet. After asking multiple times for 3 – 4 particular dishes to be replenished and food not being brought out after 15 – 20 minutes I decided to give up, grab the check and hit the road. I would not have rated one star had the food just been bad but the fact that there was no or very little food in the pans was a problem. By the way this was not a rash judgement or what might be just an off day for the restaurant — this was the same experience I had about a month earlier. They got me for the last time.

I think Sichuan is the best Chinese buffet in town. Quite frankly there are few other Chinese places I’d rather go to period than this place. Very rarely do I go to a Chinese buffet and not have to add spice or soy sauce to flavor it up. Everything I try on Sichuan’s buffet is nicely seasoned. No soy needed! It kind of sits out of view in a little strip on Linn Station Rd in Louisville, but it’s a place worth looking for.

Found this place on a business trip initially and couldn’t believe it when I tried it! The absolute BEST Chinese food since moving here. General Taos chicken and eggs rolls are fabulous and highly recommend. Brought my family here later and they can’t wait to come back again. Excellent food for a reasonable price.

Tried this place for the first time. Not sure if we ordered the wrong items but we found the food was pretty poor. We had a veggie spring roll appetizer which was bad. I ordered chicken lomein which I had to send back as it was crazy salty. The waitress was nice and did replace it with a different dish which still was nothing to come back for. For the costs it was not a good visit and I’m surprised they stay open with so many good places in town close by.

I had been quite a while since we had eaten here so we decided to give it another try. We arrived a little after the lunch crowd left. We were seated and got the menus right away. We were told by the server that they had a buffet so we decided to try it. The hot and sour soup was good and when they didn’t have Wonton soup out our server said she would get us some from the back. The fries wontons were lightly fried, crisp and tasty. The entries were minimal for variety but, very good. Some of the items were a little dried out but overall very flavorful. We want to go back but, we want to try it for dinner.

Help me! I am in dire need of some good, authentic, Chinese cuisine in the Louisville area — even if I have to drive a bit. I came to Sichuan Garden based on reviews and their online menu. I am disappointed in their menu, but satisfied with what I ate. Kind of like going to a steak house and all they have are burgers. This was traditional Americanized Chinese fare. Items I saw on the menu online, and the reason I came, where no longer on the menu. I was looking forward to having the sliced pig ear and fish head soup. Nothing like that available anymore. Szechuan cuisine? Not at all Chinese cuisine? Not the authentic stuff Americanized Chinese? Absolutely, and pretty good I still need help finding authentic Chinese in Louisville, let alone Szechuan

Best chinese food ive had in a long time. Its odd how a lunch buffet can be so terrible yet there fresh made to order food is so GOOD! It was like night and day! Skip the buffet but do go for dinner or carryout its the best chinese in town!

My family and I frequent this place for dinner. It’s always slow and quiet at that time. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. The menu has a wide selection of items to choose from and priced reasonably. This is without a doubt our favorite Chinese restaurant in Louisville. They almost always give my daughter something sweet at the end of the meal. The people who run this place are very kind.

The restaurant is a strip mall in east Louisville, and the interior looks a bit dated, but the staff is friendy and the food was awesome. The wife and I plus our 2 small kids shared the dinner for 3, which included soup, eggrolls and rangoons, rice, and 3 large plates of main dishes. The cost was 42 dollars, which is a bit on the high side considering most Chinese buffets run about 10 bucks, but it was some of the better Chinese I’ve had, so I will definitely return.

When I was little, I used to spend a week every summer visiting relatives in Louisville. We’d always head to Sichuan Garden for our goodbye meal. We loved the food, but the staff even more so. We always had the same server — an adorable man who taught me and my sister how to fold napkins in various, fancy ways! Fast-forward 15 years to last weekend when I returned for the first time since a young teen to Louisville. We decided to go to our old haunt, Sichuan Gardens, and it was like walking back in time. Nothing about it had changed — not even our server! It was the same sweet, friendly, napkin-folding genius from when we were kids. We were psyched and ended up showing HIM a few folding tricks we’d picked up over the years. Personal connection aside, this place is great. Yes, the décor is outdated and dingy, but the food is AWESOME and they are so careful in their beautiful presentation. We got the dinner for five(they let you substitute any dishes you want in this deal, by the way) and opted for hot and sour soup, szechuan string beans, szechuan beef, shrimp with cashews, snow peas with cashews, and lemon chicken. All were fantastic. For dessert, they bring out a big platter of orange wedges and deliciously sweet watermelon along with classic fortune cookies. It’s not on their main menu, but they do have wine if you ask for it. I really recommend this place. The staff are wonderful people who go out of their way to make your experience special. The food is exceptional. And they really know how to fold a nice napkin. :-)

Skip the lunch buffet. Room temperature food bordering on cold. Décor is outdated and worn out. Was hoping for better. Maybe the food is better made to order?

Very hard to beat Sichuan is a little more expensive than your average Chinese joint, but you’ll know the reason when your food comes. They spend some time on presentation, so you normally get some radish flowers or other cool garnish with your dish. As far as the dishes… they use very good meat and authentic chinese vegetables, and the flavor is outstanding. The sizzling beef and shrimp dish is very good, and the sesame beef is also very good. Their egg rolls are some of the best I’ve ever had. They also have a good variety of Kimchee, which is hard to find in Louisville.(not on the menu, you have to ask)

I love the fact that Louisville has some modern and up scale Chinese restaurants, but when you are in the mood for the Chinese food that you grew up with, this is the place to go. They have all of the standard Chinese dishes and all are very good. I have tried almost everything in the 6 years that i have been coming here. The service is great and the staff will get to know you very quickly. We bring the kids and they always enjoy it. They also have a lunch buffet during the week and you can’t beat the lunch prices on the weekend!
