Sonic Drive-In

I always forget that this is a place you drive up to, get a drink, and drive away from. I have never had a good experience here but my lunch buddy insists on it once a month.
You can get gross food, faster, someplace else but without the surly attitude.

Long story short:
I’m usually a pretty patient guy, not much gets under my skin. I will never come back to this Sonic again. I actually waited several weeks so I could re-​read and then post this review, so it wasn’t written quickly or ‘in the moment.‘
Reasons why we won’t return:
Crazy slow service, not as bad as Steak n Shake, but definitely not what you would assume for a place that is supposed to be drive-​up/​drive through. Last order took 30 minutes to complete for a family of 5, nothing crazy was ordered.
Inconsistent quality:
We have been to this Sonic many times, and I never felt like I was getting the same level of prep from one trip to the next. For example, I ordered a Sea-​Salt & Caramel Shake, they plainly used regular table salt… and a lot of it. I was out and away before I tried it, and it was totally undrinkable.
Lack of concern by management
Our last trip in, I called in to the manager since we were alerady late and on the road at that point, and she did nothing but make prolific excuses and offer to give me a free shake the next time I came in. She also said I could turn around, come back and she would refund my purchase, which I told her I simply didn’t have time to do. If it was a one-​time thing, I would have let it go, but when it turns into a ‘every time I come in’ experience, all I can do is simply choose to go somewhere else. I understand having a bad day & dealing with inconsistent workers, but I don’t need to go somewhere that never improves.
And if the saying about bathroom cleanliness & kitchen cleanliness being the same has any truth to it, then I’m definitely done. I don’t like posting reviews like this, but I can only hope the management/​owners see it and can take positive steps.

The food took 20 minutes to get out on a slow night, and it was all cold and over salted.

I came during Happy Hour in search of a Pineapple slushie. Unfortunately their slushie machine was messing up, which is totally understandable. Instead ibgot 2 strawberry limeades. I lost my voice and strained to talk but they tried to understand me and got my order correct over the loud speaker. The server was excellent and had a great attitude. I would surely return here for my pineapple slushie.

I love the happy hour here for half priced drinks. But the wait sucks and the staff are not the most friendly I have been around. On the drive thru window there is a small sign with the owners email. I have emailed twice but no email back.

«Happy Hour» between 2 – 4 where all the drinks are half off. You get this giant big gulp sized slushie for only $ 1.10!
Aside from the drinks which are pretty tasty — especially during these hot and humid KY summers is that their drinks have the BEST insulation. I left mine in the car for 4+ hours and still came back to a well chilled drink.
