Normally I don’t complain on retail stores. Normally. This was not a «normal» visit. My fiancée and I went in here to get her a new cell phone. The gal we spoke to was quite a treat, really. Usually, the staff here is pretty friendly. She was no exception. It was the person who replaced her that we took issue with. Jose. He takes my ID and starts to look up my account. Pretty much SOP. No complaint there. Then we asked him for the cell phone that she wanted. He starts pushing JUMP on us, and when I asked him what it was he kept going«hey, I don’t care one way or the other, but you need this» and he kept pushing the«scare» buttons that make me say, «no thanks». So we say we need a minute. Next, he pulls out the phone she wants and another phone and sets them both down on the counter, explaining to her why she wants the other one and how the one she originally wanted is a mistake. No, she wants this one. It’s cheaper and a better deal. No, Jose, she doesn’t. Quit talking to my fiancée like she’s a 5 year old. We tell him we need another minute. So then he takes the phone that she wanted and puts it in the stock room, comes back with a sign that says«Out of stock,» places it on the phone’s display and refuses to sell us the phone she wanted, saying it’s a mistake and that now it’s out of stock, anyway. So now she«has» to buy the phone Jose’s been pushing on us. Keep in mind he’s still got my ID, and he has had it in his hand every time he has walked back and forth to the stock room. So, I tell him we’re not interested and that we’re going to look elsewhere. He shoves my ID back at me and keeps hounding us about how the phone she wants is a mistake and when we realize that, to come back and see him. Have a nice day, Jose. Stay away from Jose at all costs. His unethical sales tactics and lying left a bad taste where once I really liked the location close to my house. Needless to say, we won’t be back to this location for a while. The Shelbyville Rd. location sold us her second-choice phone(not the one Jose was pushing on us, but the St. Matthews store really and truly didn’t carry the one she had wanted at first), oh and by the way, we did end up getting JUMP when our salesperson explained to us what it actually was instead of shoving it down our throats every 5 seconds. Three stars, because this was truly the only bad experience I’ve ever had at the Westport road location. However, it was bad enough.
