Chicken vermicelli is fabulous. Great spring rolls with homemade peanut sauce. Everything is so fresh. The owner is very nice and such a hardworking family.

Egg rolls were amazing. I had veggie phở and my husband had the beef combo, they were okay. The basil and herb toppings come already in your bowl, which I didn’t prefer.

I love the beef steak phở. Excellent ingredients and portioned perfectly. Be sure to try the fry egg rolls too. You will want to have at least two. I will be back!

I love their Phở. Their customer service is very welcoming and willing to answer any questions for people like me who are not so very familiar with Vietnamese cuisine. I feel nutritious!

The service is fast and the staff are personable and very friendly. However, the food, while good, is toned-down for the American palate. The broth in the Phở is lacking the depth of flavor I’ve come to expect. Also, the Bahn Mi sandwiches lack the pork pâté which, for me, is a disappointment. I’ll return because I do like the food(and because Vietnamese is a rarity here in Rockford, IL), but these caveats will always be in the back of my mind.

Stopped here for lunch and got chicken curry, a rice noodle dish, and steak phở. The food came out quickly, with friendly service. The ingredients in all our dishes were fresh, and they weren’t stingy with the amount of food given. We were happily satisfied. Definitely would come here again.

Went in this place a little after dinner hours. Was greated by a Hispanic guy. I ordered an egg roll and the Bun Bo Hue(way). It was my first time there, I was looking for the forks/chopsticks/soup spoons and condiments. They are set at the side of the drink machine. The first soup spoon I grabbed was oily and still had food on it(yuck). I grab the second, cleaner but still dirty. I just opt for the metal spoon(I wiped it down). I then noticed that the meat in my soup was grilled meats and meats for the phở soup instead of the bun bo hue. At this time I was ready to leave but everywhere else was closed except fast food. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to get the bun bo hue here. I eat alot of Vietnamese food everwhere and by far this is one of the worst places to eat it. Two stars for smiles and trying.

Good people! Went out of their way for us. Will return again and again. So far, best Phở in Rockford… and I think we’ve almost tried them all. Oh, and the avacodo smoothie was surprisingly good, it doesn’t taste like you’d think it would.

This is a «fast food restaurant» for me. The food I have is spring rolls and the spicy noodle soup. The taste is fair. If you want a fast Vietnamese food, here you go.

Very delicious. Tried lemongrass grilled chicken on rice and it is probably as good as and even better in my opinion than the ones I tried in nyc, jersey city, and other places.

I’ve only known the taste bud magic of Phở in the last year and now i crave it all the time. I tried it for the first time at a local downtown rockford restaurant but during the week Phở Square is a fantastic option. Its a smaller establishment but they have a ton of options. I always order the well done beef phở and shrimp spring rolls. I love the spring rolls and the peanut sauce theyre served with and the small phở is a perfect lunch portion! I keep meaning to try new things but i Just cant pass up the phở. It seems sinful to even try haha! The service is friendly and prices are decent. Usually runs me about $ 11 with a fountain drink. My only suggestion would to be have someone who busses tables more frequently. Theyre busy so «used» tables rack up quickly and new customers need clean places to sit! Otherwise, this is a great little place to grab vietnamese food!

I eat here at least once a week! I love the veggie spring rolls, the shrimp curry with noodles and the chicken phở! The staff is great. They know me by name and are always happy to see me. The food tastes great and doesn’t weigh you down. I definitely recommend that you try it if you haven’t yet. Great for quick carry out too!

Amazing vietnamese in the heart of Rockford– everything is fantastic and fresh and made to order bahn mi is the classic standby– pork lemongrass is the best! phở is very yummy and perfect on a cold day the vietnamese iced coffee is always perfect(and I don’t even like coffee– but I love this stuff) spring rolls are also great YOUMUSTTRY and won’t regret it! Order at the counter and then they will deliver to your table I always see local vietnamese eating– so you know it must be good! it’s a mom and pop/family run shop– so that’s also great to see!

Yum! Got the chicken/Turkey phở, the chicken phở xao, and the shrimp spring rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious. My favorite was the Chicken Phở Xao. It had a really rich flavor and the chicken was perfectly cooked. We paid $ 17 for everything. You order at the front and then they bring it to the table. I will definitely be coming back.

First visit here. Service was friendly, décor was nice and the place was clean. Typical work lunch crowd on a weekday. As orders were leaving the kitchen they looked amazing. I ordered the teri chicken egg noodles. I did not enjoy this and felt the flavor was bland, the chicken was dry and the veggies were soggy. I picked at some of the noodles and left the rest. My husband ordered the lemongrass pork crispy noodles. Didn’t really get the lemongrass flavor and he said the sauce was too sweet. I may be willing to come again and try the phở but otherwise I think I could make the dish better myself.

I’d say, for Rockford, it’s a highlight. The food is good, service is friendly, and the price is right. I’ve been eating here since it opened and I’ve only seen it get busier as the years have gone by. Worth a stop in if you get the chance.

Good for Rockford area or a place that doesn’t have many Vietnamese options… Not good for a girl with taste buds from the central region of Vietnam(take notes if you’re Vietnamese because you know what I mean). I didn’t try their smoothies. I’m very picky about that though. Wish I did. Ordered… 1. Egg rolls — filled like Chinese but the wrap is Viet. Not authentic, but good. 2. Bun Bo Hue — it’s ok. The broth isn’t as full flavor as it should be. 3. The bf said the chicken phở wasn’t good. I didn’t bother to try.(They have seafood phở!!!) 4. Spring rolls — I liked that they didn’t use sausage to fill up flavor and they served with peanut butter sauce! Mmmm! 5. Bun thit nuong — the fish sauce tastes like juice. I drank it from the cup. The pork was overdone.

I’ve never had Phở before in my life. In fact I’m not even sure how to pronounce Phở. I thought I would try to start this review with a pun like other people that have reviewed places that serve PHO, but since I’m having that pronunciation issue, I decided to just skip it. This place has been on my «To Try» list for a while now. Having never tried Vietnamese food before, I’ve been curious. I love trying new things and there are very few ethnic foods I don’t like. Of course walking in I have no idea what to order and their menu has a lot of choices on it. For me it was easy to limit it to the PHO, I mean it’s in the name of the place, it must be their specialty. Now they have PHO and stir fried PHO. I had some difficulty wrapping my brain around that as from the reviews I read I thought all PHO was kind of like a soup, I guess I’m wrong. I told you I know nothing about Phở! I ended up order the grilled meatball phở. Since so many Unilocalers said the shrimp spring rolls were good, I order some of them too. Every other spring roll I’ve had has been fried, these were not. In fact it reminded me more of a sandwich rap than what I’m used to getting. Have I mentioned I had NO experience with Vietnamese food before? It wasn’t until I got home and did a quick search on the internet that I discovered that there are different types of spring rolls. I like the spring rolls, they came with a peanut sauce for dipping and I thought they tasted very good. The Phở was interesting. I liked it. I can’t compare it to anything, but I thought it was pretty good. The meatballs I had were different. I’m not sure I liked them as much as the rest. They had kind of a weird texture to them and the flavor, while not bad, was not something I thought wasn’t all that great. The flavor of the broth and noodles was fantastic in my opinion. Be careful of the portion size. When I first ordered, I asked for a large. The lady at the counter showed me the bowls they came in, I changed my order. The standard size was more than enough for me, especially with the spring rolls. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and has the layout of a fast food restaurant. You place your order at the counter and then they bring your food to you when it’s ready. The have a container at each table with spoons, forks and chop sticks for you to use. The service was fantastic and the lady working the counter was patient with me while I ordered. The food was brought out fast and hot. We were easily able to eat there during our hour lunch. I’m looking forward to going back and trying some different varieties. I don’t know if this is good Phở, but it was good food.
