We love their calamari– it’s fresh and not over or under cooked. Pizza is good as it the steak dinner.

Traveling north on 29, there are not many places to eat dinner in the area of Lovingston, VA. As we were starving and it was getting late, we chose Vito’s rather than traveling further on to Harrisonburg, largely because of its stellar Unilocal ratings. Really, Vito’s is an average Italian-American restaurant with an almost exclusively local clientele. I ordered linguini with tomatoes, mushrooms, and broccoli in an Alfredo sauce($ 11). While the vegetables were fresh, not frozen, the broccoli was overcooked. The Alfredo sauce had no seasonings to speak of and was quite bland. My son ordered a 12″ cheese pizza, which he enjoyed. My husband had spinach stuffed shells, which he said were«pretty good.» The specialty entrees come with a fresh salad that was quite tasty(the blue cheese dressing had, evidently, caught the Alfredo sauce’s blandness bug). Although the menu said that entrees also came with«fresh baked bread» we had to ask our server for it(small, decent rolls). All in all, our bellies were filled and Vito’s served the purpose, however, $ 50(with tip) seemed pricey for what we got. Next time we drive north on 29, we’ll leave earlier and go to Harrisonburg.

I don’t know which factors contributed to this poor experience but my family(wife and two children under 3) walked in for dinner and waited to be seated. 3 minutes later, waitress said we could sit anywhere and she would bring us booster seats. After 15 minutes waiting by a table with kids on our laps and no one coming up to check on us or give us booster seats, we decided to leave. During that time the waitresses came out two times and one time she kept looking in our direction. I’m sure the food may be good and this could be a one time situation but anyone who has two toddlers that are wiggly and hungry know that it was very frustrating. We ended up eating at McDonalds…

Food is fabulous! With some notice, they accommodated a large group of 25 after a funeral service. Great prices, friendly staff, we always come back!

The food was really good! We had a cheese pizza, meatball sub with homemade chips, mozzarella sticks, and a Grilled Chicken Caesar salad. We stopped by this place on our drive through to northern Virginia. The chicken was seasoned nicely and cooked to perfection. The homemade chips were delicious and the pizza was good. The only thing that had some room for improvement was the waitress. She was a little busy and seemed to be the only one working the dining room at 1:30 on a holiday weekend. We had to share some sips of drinks and she eventually got around to bringing some refills. The food was good enough that I would definitely stop here again.

Gotta love this place! Only one of two restaurants in Lovingston and food was very good! Lots of variety — big menu and great beers on tap, including lots of local brews. Our waiter Alfred(Albert?) was awesome — very charmng and just a great young man. Will definitely return to try other things on the menu.

I have been to this pizza place a few times,(take out only), and just about every time they mess up my order. I live 10 miles out of town so I normally don’t take it back. I did today, the management did make it right by taking it off my debit card, but I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon. The calzone was not worth $ 8.00.

Great menu with delicious subs like chicken parm and meatball. Love the sauce and crust on their pizza. The staff is friendlyand gives better service than the Amherst location.

Fried Oysters, BBQ Chicken Pizza, homemade bread rolls, ribeye, veggies, shrimp pasta, THESERVICE… all on point. On the road and we found this gem late 4th of July night, and couldn’t have imagined a better meal! Hungry? Don’t risk it, stop @ Vitos!!! Thank me later

I am giving Vito’s five stars. This is based on the very good quality and the price being very appropriate for the quality. Not to mention it is in Lovingston. Which is a really small, tiny village. They have one stop light, only a handful of places to eat, and Vito’s is really good American-Italian for such a small town. It is good American-Italian for anywhere really. It is a very moderate price point. Pizza is very good standard pizza. Just enough toppings, cheese, sauce, and a good crust. Service is very good. I love the smell when I walk in. It says, «good food». Finally, the two chocolate cake desserts they have are REALLY good. I have stopped there before just to get the desserts to-go.(I am a chocaholic). They do take groups but groups should definitely call ahead — the place is not huge.

The pizza here is fantastic. I’ve never had a bad pizza here. Really affordable, too. Good crust, good cheese, they shred their sausage which is awesome! It tastes much better that way. Really great pizza. Very flavorful. Calzones I feel are the same as pizza, so assume I said just as many good things about that. Phili cheese subs are my second go — to meal. The chicken or steak are just as good as one another. Get it with bacon, yummy. Most of their sandwiches are really good. The alfrado is creamy like it should be. Most of the appetizers are good. I recommend the cheese sticks, bread sticks and spinach artichoke dip. The other food is kind of disappointing, because it is on the bland side, not nearly appetizing, such as the pasta dishes/raviolis. Bland bland bland. They stopped making the in house Cesar dressing that they used on the Chicken Cesar salad. Dressing is just store bought and not nearly as good as before.

Nice little place, with really good pizza. Dough tasted homemade, with a really good crisp on the bottom. Tons of ingredients on the combo. We also ordered mozzarella sticks, which were very good. The breading was very crunchy, unlike the soggy ones you get most places. Service was also very good and quick. We would definitely go back, and maybe try some of their Italian dishes. Only negative is that if you sit right in the front, you do get a little heat from the pizza oven. Might be nice in the winter, but not so in August.

I grew up in Jersey and have been living in the Bay Area, CA for the past 10 years, Vito’s was one of the best meals I’ve had. I love eating at local restaurants that are clean, non pretentious, most of all, serve great food. We ordered a large pizza with sausage, mushrooms & fresh garlic and fresh fried oysters. Everything tasted great and the salad w/bread was delicious! Unfortunately we were in the area for a yearly business trip but I can’t wait to come back next year!

Slightly better than average American-style Italian food. Better than most places in either Lynchburg or Charlottesville, but it’s not«fancy» Italian so I won’t hold it to that standard. Pizza is OK, paninis are good, and I have never tried the pasta here, but it looked OK.

Sal has opened his second location in Nellysford on Rt 151. I had dinner there last Tuesday. The parking lot was full and the restaurant busy but we had no wait and were seated promptly. He has transformed the old building into a very cozy and comfortable space. We met some friends from out of town there and enjoyed a leisurely dinner. I had the fresh cod on a bed of spinach topped with mushrooms. It was outstanding and at $ 16 including a salad quite reasonable. His menu is extensive and there are about 12 beers on tap including some local brews.
