I have gone to this place a few times for both emergency and routine eye care for myself and my family. They are okay for emergency care. They will usually see you fairly quickly if you need inmediate attention and they don’t charge you an «emergency visit» fee like they do at Cambridge Eye Doctors. My complaints are: 1) the staff at the front desk could be better trained. For example, my wife called to make an appointment the other day and it took her over 20 minutes to schedule it because of all the dumb questions they kept asking her(i.e., «Who is the insurance carrier?». «My husband is». «Okay. What’s your marital status?». Yeah, they really did). 2) Dr. Capino is too fast-paced for me. I often feel like he has better things to do and better places to be than examining my eyes in his office. I have to ask him to slow down a bit because he is going thru the appointment so fast that I feel like I’m on an assembly line and he’s just trying to get me out of there as quickly as possible. I understand there may be other people coming after me. But, it’s MY eyes we are talking about. I shouldn’t feel like I’m being a nuissance because I have a question about them. 3) Dr. Capino can be very rude and inappropriate at times. He gave my wife a new prescription for her eyeglasses recently. When she got the new glasses, she had trouble seeing with them. After trying them for 4 – 5 days without any improvement(actually, she got worse because she started getting terrible headaches), she went back to Dr. Capino and asked that the prescription be adjusted. Dr. Capino told her that she had to give the glasses more time and get used to them. My wife insisted that the glasses were causing her too much pain and discomfort. His response was(in a rude tone) «You are forty years old… your eyes are no longer young… live with it.». Never mind the inappropriateness of telling a female patient basically«you’re old… get used to it»; that is downright unprofessional! I wish I could say this was an isolated experience. But, Dr. Capino has also spoken to my teen and pre-teen children in a rude manner before during visits. At first, I gave him the benefit of the doubt by thinking that maybe it was a cultural thing. But, after so many incidents of the same nature, I’ve decided we’ll be looking for a new eye doctor. It truly is a shame, because Dr. Capino seems to know his stuff. But, good service and people skills are just as important to me. And, this office is sorely lacking in that department.
